thanks the reply, I have tried IE, but it loads automatically flashdownloader for me... maybe that is, anyway just after asking, I have observed here, that if the fan control goes from 30 to 100% that is not needed... so if I am here, another question I have too. I am planning to update my system to x58 based one. my prioroty is video rendering, so I have a Leadtek PXVC 1100 card, which uses Toshiba Spurs Enbgine. Now they say it is not compatible with x58 chipsets, however they are compatible with ICH10 south-bridge. it can be attached to a small slot, the PCI 1x... in case of classified series it is just above the first PCI-16 slot, and I am afraid it does not have there enough space due that big passive cooler.... there are version where the PCI 1x slot is just under the first PCI 16x slot, so no way of using it due the double sized video card (gtx 460 I have already)... so big trouble, I plan this within two month, so until that I would like to get some answer. the important is if that goes with x58 series, I would prefer one of those since they are perfect with a 6 core i7. I have sent this question to evga already, but have not got answer. this is quite a technical stuff however. if they are incompatible, I go for p55 since that is the closest... or wait to see what will be the p65, I just seen a tweet somewhere... plus as I see p55 is double channeled with memory... so x58 would be the best match since don't have the budget for sr2 and two extra xeon :)) anyone who know some info on this issue is welcomed, and thanks maki

Nvidia masks the extra cores to make unlocking impossible. The only exception is early black PCB 465 cards that were 470s with a 465 BIOS. They even had the extra RAM. Personally, I really don't understand why Nvidia never introduced a 512 core GF100. The reasons I've seen aren't compelling. It could have been a limited edition. It could have been released with a waterblock only, due to the heat issue. It would have sold to people who wanted the fastest single GPU available. I think the company made a mistake. Even if the yields were very very low, just having the part around would have meant benchmarkers would have set it against AMD's stuff and it would have been more satisfying for enthusiasts to know that there's a full GF100 in existence. Instead, by only selling the reduced 480, Nvidia sent the message that GF100 was a flawed design. Nvidia lost mindshare by this decision. Sure, it made the 580 more exciting, but there was plenty of time between the 480 and the 580 where Nvidia was being made fun of due to the selling of only cut-down GF100. I also think the company needs to introduce a full GF104.

I just bought a new EVGA GTX 460 1GB EE Superclocked; what will the FPB do for me other than the fan speed unlock (which I'd love)...does it boost the SC speeds even further, or do they stay the same (since from what I can tell, the SC is clocked faster than what the FPB increases speeds to). I'm just curious if the FPB would do anything other than the fan speed unlock; I plan on applying it for that for sure. but I just would like to know what else (if anything) to expect. Oh, and is there a way to tell if the FPB was already pre-applied or not? Thanks in advance. :D

Read the first post, it tells you everything it will do. To test, if you already have it, just try to set your fan speed to 100 through Precision.

Umm, question. I received my gtx 460 1gb EE a few days ago. It's already at 740, 1440 and I can put the fan anywhere between 30%-100%. The voltage will crank all the way up to 1.14375v. Do I need to upgrade? It sounds like I've already got this installed.
