Re:Free Performance Boost (FPB) for GTX 460 Now Available 2010/10/27 06:08:06 (permalink)
Hello!
Can any moderator please answer me these two doubts I posted about a few days ago?
I'm going to copy and paste my message so you don't have to search for it in the topic.
Thank youu!

I have the GTX 460 1gb EE model 01G-P3-1365. These FPB updates don't mention this model.

My card is clocked (factory settings) like this
I uploaded a GPU-Z screenshot so you can have all the specifications of the video card.
http://gpuz.techpowerup.com/10/10/25/3a2.png

I can't set the fan speed to 30% (minimum is 40%) on EVGA Precision, but I am able to make it to 100%.

My BIOS is 70.04.13.00.64  . Seems it's old, comparing to the 70.04.13.00.76 version you're talking about.

I have one more question.

While the fans at 40% sound just fine, I don't know why in games, from time to time, it keeps adjusting the fan speed itself -gets noisier when getting more speed percentage but that's pretty logical-. It's not like it's during a part of the game where it stresses the card much more, so I don't know. Is this a normal behavior for some games to have the fans spinning that way?????

Ok, those are my two doubts I was talking about. I hope someone can clear those up for me, as I'm kind of scared about the fan thing. I don't know if it could be a normal behavior or not.

Thanks a million, everyone!!!

I dont think the number of the bios means anything as far as its older. My bios was 70.04.13.00.74 and after update it is now 70.04.1B.00.70.And if you have the fan on auto, you should hear it speed up while in a game.

oh ok, I'll check that out with more games then.
As for the bios, I think it's old because I cannot set the fan on 30% in EVGA Precision.
I read here there was going to be a new bios update.
Will it include one for the "01G-P3-1365" GTX 460 1gb EE model?
Thank you!

Nice to see this kind of thing, not too novel or useful, but not unuseful :) I assume most of us clock via MSI Afterburner, but thanks anyways EVGA :)

When Afterburner,or Precision or any program  can do these let us all know ,this is a BIO's alteration not just a Overclock of the card .
  • New in version 1.2 - Improved compatibility
  • Fanspeed can now be reduced to 30% in EVGA Precision
  • Core/Processor clock increased to 720/1440 (Part numbers 768-P3-1360-XX and 01G-P3-1371-XX Only)
  • Fanspeed unlocked to allow up to 100%

This is Extremely useful and above and beyond the call of normal customer service

Oh, I see it doesn't include one for the "01G-P3-1365" GTX 460 1gb EE model. Is there any chance there will be compatibility for this version?

Ive tried to install this, and it doesnt work.  It starts the process after I hit the y key, but then flashes an error message in the window that closes so fast I cant see it.  I have the 01G-P3-1371-TR.  64Bit Win7.  Any ideas?

I got 2 seperate pics of low quality. I assure you they are on the same box. My card that was inside was EE. Although it had the two vga outputs, the small blue one and the larger white or grey one.  And the code was 1365. can it be ive been fooled by my local computer store ?

Try using Firefox or IE.  Chrome has problems with FTP links.

thats why, cool thanks. Now i feel good to have a card that originally had non EE now they made it EE. Makes it special XD. Maybe thats why there was a bunch of little stickers all over the box? . oh well. it kicks ass and it lets me sometimes get 14k of folding a day

however, this week we will post new releases that have memory compatibility additions, no bug fixes.

Memory compability for what?

Alright well heres the problem I have with the 1371 and every time I have tried to update the bios it always comes back with "No display adapters were found that are compatible with this update" and closes instantly. There is nothing running in the background that I am aware of and I have turned off my anti-virus completely and still got the same error. I don't know if I may have the newest bios or not but I can change my fan speeds and all that good stuff. Any help on this would be fantastic. Also, I'm tring to install the v1.2.
