Well I can share that I submitted a customer service ticket Monday asking about the BIOS, if it was coming still, or if they could update regarding when, and got a response near end of day Tuesday stating "this is still being looked at, unfortunately I cannot provide you an ETA." I think we would all feel better if that sort of update was provided to everyone here in the forum from EVGA directly, but I appreciate the honesty from the customer service rep that no ETA was available at this time.

Appreciate the update mate, thank you. "still being looked at" doesn't sound overly promising. "Still being worked on" would have been more reassuring.

d4rky0d4 I returned the i7-14700K to micro center, I kept getting error code d6 and 5 beeps, worried me that something else went defective, I picked up a 13700k and everything is stable again, I have the Z690 Dark Kingpin. I also have bios version v2.13.
D6 is dGPU/cable detection with igpu on classified would post 99% It's not 00, so cpu is detecting and posting without new microcodes as i said

Update from a 14900KF owner on the latest BIOS. It posts and boots into windows. There might be bugs or v/f curve issues I haven't tested for yet, but at least it works. I'd assume the 14900K works as well. This was on a Z690 Dark.

I will test tonight with my 14900K. I got a second 14900K in and will first test the new one in my Z790 Apex board to check SP and V/F curve and then put the worse one in my Z690 Dark. Will update, but it sounds like it will at least work? Still should get proper BIOS support from EVGA!

Have you tried flashing a new ME FW or which one you are using ATM ? thanks for the input.

What do you mean it works? Do you have a beta version of newer bios or what?

f 14900K up and running on my Z690 Dark with BIOS 2.13 Clocks, boosting to 6Ghz all appear to be working fine. BIOS recognizes the CPU properly as 14900K. Edit: Unfortunately when testing the CPU it does not perform as it should or how it performs in my Z790 Apex with proper BIOS support. This same CPU in my Z790 Apex when locked at 253w and undervolted will boost to 5.5Ghz all core and 4.2/4.3 E cores and score over 40K in CB23. When used in the Z690 Dark, when clamped with same Intel limit of 253w and undervolted, it will only boost to around 5.0-5.1 and 4.0 on E cores and scores around 37K. If I attempt to further undervolt the test will fail, crash or log WHEA errors. There are clearly missing V/F optimizations that are missing from this BIOS that other boards have with proper support. I would not put a 14900K in this board and expect proper functionality until EVGA address this issue.

How did you lock the power down on the z690 Dark? I didn't think we had a power limit option in the BIOS. If you used XTU, I'm curious about the settings, as I've never had luck getting XTU to play nicely with my z690 Classified. I think you have to have defaults on in the BIOS or they start fighting each other and I'm not even positive that it works if you run defaults. I'm curious what happens if you manually set the per-core ratios as an overclock in the BIOS if it will run properly. I'm not sure what voltage settings you'd have to run. My guess is some decent negative offsets on the V/F points around 5400 and 5700 (none at higher points). Of course it is just a guess...

I just saw Kingpin put this comment on his FB post about running on EVGA boards with 14900k: This is on 690 DARK with normal room temp ambient watercooling. It's hitting 98-99c under load here on R23, so likely the max of this chip. The Ecores on these cpus seem much improved. Also, it goes without saying that you MUST USE manual settings to get it flying. Currently there still isn't any official bios support for 14th gen, so don't expect "auto" type settings to 100% function correctly on either boards. That being said, It will still OC like a beast if you tweak everything manually.

Go to Advanced/ CPU Config/ CPU Power Limit. Set whatever you want and it will respect that power limit for short/long term. Essentially just makes it a long term power limit, never throttles below. Testing more today, I've found that around 280w gets my CPU to perform identical to 253w limit on the Apex board. The more I think about it, it could be as simple as the way power is being measured or some sort of differences in the VRM. Temps were great at 280w, even with the smaller 280mm AIO I'm using. P cores peaked around 70c and E around 60c. So it's definitely performing great. Scores over 40K with that limit in place. I've also found this 14900K has a better IMC than my 13900K I had in there. I'm now able to push my 2x32gb Dual Rank kit up to 7200 Stable on the Z690 Dark, where previously 7000 seemed it's limit. I'll test for 7400 or higher today. So it does appear to be working fine, just with slightly higher reported power draw vs my Asus board. But that might be in error or not a big deal as temps don't seem to reflect the higher power draw. I'm still hoping to see EVGA drop a BIOS, but glad to see that at least the CPU seems to function fine as is. I'll report back if I find any other issues.

Thanks for the update!

I could always push M-Die from DDR5 6400 to DDR5 7400 and low latency tuned on Z690 with very little effort. I believe my 13900k can do DDR5 8000+ A Die easily. I hope eVga releases another BIOS update for 14900k on this board. Too bad if they don't but I won't be surprised if that does not happen.

You can push 8000+ Dual Ranked? Show me proof of that please. I am talking about 2x32gb DUAL RANKED DIMMS. Not 2x16gb. or 2x24gb which are also not dual ranked.

Sorry. I was talking 2x16Gb

I would also like a conformation on if a bios update is needed for a 14900k on the Z690 classified MB or if there will be one available in the future. Thanks for all your support!

I bought a 14900KF, and it's working for me with a z690 Classy and Bios 2.12. No major issues. I don't have another MOBO to test it on, but it did provide an all around benchmark upgrade from my 12900KF. It did give me a 5 beep code at first, but clearing CMOS fixed and it booted fine and detected the 14900KF.

14900k/F should function in the motherboard, but an update from EVGA is needed for default V/F/clocks to work right on the "14th gen". You can manually set the per-core OC ratios to function the way the chip is supposed to and do your own voltage adjustments (checking for stability of course). Basically go through what you would go through to manually overclock/undervolt your CPU, but just to get it running the way Intel intended. As I understand from others here, the 14700k/F is not detected correctly on these boards. Kingpin posted some test results (see post 77 above) with the z690 with the 14900k and confirmed manual adjustments are required to get it running correctly until EVGA provides official BIOS support for the "14th gen". I know you're hoping that EVGA will come in here and say...anything...at all...but we've all been waiting for that and haven't seen it in months in the z690/z790 motherboard sections.

People have been sent email replies from EVGA with “It’s being worked on.” At least they didn’t flat out say they are not working on it. I’m probably putting too much faith in them lol. We are catching their last dying breath.

To be fair, the quote above was "this is still being looked at, unfortunately I cannot provide you an ETA." This doesn't say "we're working on the update". It says they're looking at the problem but it doesn't say they have a plan for if/how/when at all. They said they were working on it in August, but they haven't confirmed since then that there is still a plan to release an update. We also know the guys who were responsible for testing new CPUs on their boards and updating the BIOS accordingly were looking for new jobs in June.

Their motherboard team in Taiwan office left the company. There is no one to make new BIOS. The only thing they can do is contract some 3rd party company to do one last update to BIOSes for Z690 and Z790 but that will cost $$$ and no return for them since they stopped selling Z790 boards.

New bios will not be released despite the lies from EVGAs support EVGA can't do anything because they no longer exist, it's a dead horse
