Hello All,

I have an EVGA 780ti SC 3GB with TDP issues that show up in Furmark. When running furmark 1.20.7.0 with all stock video card settings with furmark set to default of 1080p in fullscreen (no other settings changed from stock besides full screen enabled) the card will run fine for 10 seconds or so at about 75FPS and around 100%TDP then after that drop to as low as 63fps and 88%TDP. This was done on nvidia driver version 431.36 and the card temp never got above 66C. Everything on the card *looks* fine, no liquid damaged looking areas, no burn marks anywhere on the PCB or components and nothing looks broken.

Here's what I tried to fix it:
Tried Furmark 1.19
Tried Nvidia driver version 425.31 (using DDU between versions).
Tried different 8+6 pin cables.
(all these things ^ were tried one at a time, running furmark after each change)

None of those things worked. After that I decided to install and try EVGA Precision to raise the max TDP limit and temp limit to max. Doing that I got 79-83fps and 102-105%TDP in furmark with max of 72C.

Is there some kind of really low temp limit programmed into this card that drops the TDP even at low temps? Is there a specific part of this card that could be damaged causing this TDP drop issue? Any insight on this issue would be great, thanks!!

True, but I can still hit my power limit when running furmark, so something else must be going on with the op's card.

Is your card the same as mine though? I'm thinking Furmark might work differently on different cards. It stays at around 100% on this EVGA 980 SC I have but the 780ti is a completely different animal.

Do you have some suggestions? I just tried Kombustor but it says my TDP is a constant 100.0% and does not vary so I'm thinking that it is not giving me a constant readout and/or actual readings.

I don't own those benchmark programs to be able to access settings to run in windowed mode next to GPU-Z. Even the old 3dmark06 requires you to own it to access settings.

Btw that's the biggest picture I could post. Forum kept telling me it had to be under 500kb and it would not let me use imgur or imgBB so that's ^ the best I could do.

+1.... your results in that pict look good. If anything run that fan at 100% when benching so you don't cook your card. Cooler it runs the better, more overclock etc.... youll get. Running it hot is not your friend. Cooler the better and 72c is NOT cool.... you want that to be your line in the sand to never pass. I use 387.92 on win 7 ult x64 with my 780 and it runs good with that driver. The newer I go the more the weird issues seem to crop up, so I removed them and went back to the best one that would let me play the newer games good and not bug my O/S out. I also do just the driver install with PhysX and pulled the telemetry files by hand and make sure I setup the nvidia control center global and game specific settings. I only use Afterburner with my card too...no Precision.

I think you're right. As you can see in the picture I posted it also does it in Heaven and not just Furmark. Does anyone know what specific components regulate the TDP and can maybe give me a breakdown of where it is on the card?

Do you or anyone else on this forum know how I can test the VRM MOSFETS to make sure they are all working properly? I have a couple digital multimeters.

I would vote for banning Furmark because I have impression that card could be damaged with Furmark if someone use him long enough. Maybe not after 2-3 days, but after enough using of Furmark.
Other softwares could run 24/7/365 and nothing will happen, only life time after 12 months will be like after 10 years of normal use.

Furmark is limited via the NVIDIA drivers and there are better benchmarks out there.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA
