I'd like a new 3090 card as much as anyone on this list.  It's frustrating and all that..., but I just spent the last two days at the hospital undergoing my monthly chemotherapy for a very rare form of incurable cancer that I have.  It will eventually kill me.  They don't know what causes it, but it showed up and was diagnosed just as I retired and thought I'd have a comfortable retirement. 

Sitting in the oncology center at the hospital, getting pumped full of chemicals that they bring in, in double-walled sealed steel containers, wearing what is essentially a hazmat suit and air supply, and having it hooked up to the chemo port permanently installed in my chest, I sit and feel it going in and causing a burning sensation and the occasional times of uncontrollable shaking.  I sit and watch all the other people in there, some quite young, some old like I am, and some going into sealed rooms for radiation treatment.  These days, with the pandemic, even the parents sitting with their children, mostly only one parent at a time, and all wearing double masks, and the occasional sounds of someone in the restroom throwing up, the sense of what's important and what isn't really hits home!

I wonder how many of the people in that room are constantly checking their email on their phones to see if they are going to be able to get a certain video card so they can play a new game at a very high frame rate.

I doubt that there are any of them doing that!  Chill out people!  Most of you have many years of ever improving computer gaming ahead of you.  Some of us don't!

I mean I get it. But I don't know if I agree with this post. I'm a cancer survivor, spent more time than I care to count getting infused. Blood draws. Surgeries etc. When I was going through that I still lives as much as I could, and although other people's problems may not of been as bad you still can't really compare. I don't know if I or others in my ward would of ever posted anything like this.

I was literally just going to say something similar, I take a little exception to comrade's post.  I am a cancer survivor, as is my 7 year old daughter, as is my mother and brother.  Life isn't a contest about who has it worse.  Unfortunately, cancer is a constant in our lives, I am sure it is compounded by the pandemic, but I am not sure this is the right place to shame people.
 
This is a forum about graphics cards and their availability.  People come here to talk about this topic, and surprise, there is a lot of negativity around it.  This post is like going on ESPN right now and saying "how many people in chemo care about the Super Bowl???".  I wish you all the best, fight the good fight, but the reality of the situation is not many give a crap about my cancer, your cancer, anybody's cancer...  They might feel momentarily bad, even say "I'm sorry", but they care about themselves and their own world.  If having a card is what they care about right now and it is because they are posting here, it is what it is.
 
I get that you are not asking for sympathy, merely pointing out there are way worse things than card availability, and I 100% agree.  I do not 100% agree that this thread is where it should be said.

Not trying to shame anyone or ask for sympathy.  Just trying to inject a bit of perspective on things.  With your experiences, it's obvious that you have been through the same thought processes that I have.  Some of the 'angst', if that is the right word in this instance, expressed in some posts just shows that, as with anything, it is possible to take relatively small things and make them much larger than they really should be.
 
I hope you and your family are all doing well!  It's amazing, both how far medicine has come...., and then also how far it has yet to go.

for $1939.99. This card is more than I want personally but I was going to build a gaming machine for a very close friend so I now have a chance to give him a true killer build.  I want to register it with evga to get the 3 year warranty and the extended warranty for this product looks to be $30 usd to bump it ti 5 years. I wanted to know if I am reading the warranty extension correctly.

That's how I read it and is consistent with my past EVGA purchases.  To get the extended warranty, you need to upload your invoice (in this case from Newegg) to the EVGA website.  Sounds like you have found the tab that has all of that info.  Best of luck and congrats (to your very close friend)!  

Actually it is his wife.  He is going to owe me big time. 

I will wait for the 11th gen intel to drop in a month or 2 and use an i7 for the build.
I will post photos once I build it.

I wish you the best, Comrade.  I hope you, and everyone else, are able to enjoy the time we have.  I don't mean to give you a hard time at all, you're already having one.  At the same time, this is a place with likeminded people who are generally feeling a little frustrated about market conditions.  Speaking for me only, I don't ever vent about lack of graphic cards to people I physically interact with day to day.  I don't think they would get it.  Ooh, middle aged man needs a graphics card.  In this forum, on this thread, I know people will likely get it.  It's not quite fair to the EVGA team for me to vent, but man sometimes venting is good.
 
You make a great point though about the relevant importance of these things.  Sometimes it's just good to have a place where a lurker like me can keep up to date with what's going on queue-wise, someone like enewt can go above and beyond keeping people in the loop, someone like you can forget about their medical concerns maybe for a second.  I don't know that I can really stack up my desire to get a gaming card to your desire to live on and use a nice new gaming card, it doesn't compute.  I think I do know why this would be frustrating though from your viewpoint.  Great point, but sometimes it's just good for people to vent, even about the smallest things.  Small things add up.

they sent me an email enter the newegg shuffle they listed 22 gpus + cpus.  They said if you are picked we will let you buy 1.
I picked everything on the list and they allowed me the evga 3987 for 1939 or a PowerColor 6800 for 994
 
Since 30 more on the evga gives me a 5 year warranty I bought it. Not the 2 year warranty on the power color.  It is the best card I will ever own for about 40 days then send it off to Brooklyn from me in NJ.

Finally I was able to purchase my 3090 FTW Hybrid. I have to admit it was a painful process. After receiving the notification email I tried with several credit cards but all of them failed. I don't live in the US. My plan was to have the card sent to my aunt's house and then just travel there to pick it up (and visit my family). I turned out I had to call several friends and relatives that live in the US and have US credit cards in order to ask them their credit card details and try to do the purchase. Many cards failed. It was only until a friend used his PayPal account that the purchase was confirmed. 
 
I get that EVGA is trying to protect themselves and people from fraud, but it was veeeery frustrating because the error messages are not clear. They should implement cryptocurrency payments to provide people with alternatives. I bought most of my PC at Newegg using Bitcoin like 3 years ago.

I have been seeing a lot more EVGA cards at other sites like Newegg.  This likely means they are limiting what they send to the queues.  Any way to know what that ratio is?   After waiting since September i would have hoped for more, well... focus.  I know beggars cant be choosers but it just seems like things are getting worse.  Minutes away but seconds are days here and April is coming fast.  Can we get some transparency here so we know what to expect like a cut off time in each queue of what is expected to be reached by April?   should i be jumping ship and trying for one through Newegg?  Feels like i wasted a lot of time holding out for the queue.
Got any advice?
