these bots were like the inquisition, no one expected it.

Are they from Spain?

Well played, by the way.

When you look and see the resellers on amazon I think 20% of the stock went to bots.

Right now eth mining earns 0.0725 an mh

so   3060ti = 60 x 0.0725 or 4.35 a card daily  652.50 dollars in 150 days
and 3070   = 65 x 0.0725 or 4.71 a card daily 705.50 dollars in  150 days
      3080  = 95 x 0.0725 or  6.88 a card daily 1032.00 dollars in 150 days

Obviously power costs will lower that profit but when a quality card is 100% paid for in 150 days the demand will not end.

Every day I have a guy looking for me to build him a 2 card rig to mine/game and every day I tell them I can't get gpus. Some people are making $$ on this.

I am not familiar with mining...that is "earning" before the cost of electricity, right?  So before electricity costs are deducted, a 3080 makes $175 after deducting the cost of the card (assuming taxes, etc.) over 150 days.  I bet the electricity costs eat up that $175 pretty quickly, no?

It depends a lot on where you live, here in Ca, it could eat up half or more of the total revenue per day.

In many parts of the US, it feels like you'd need a solar plant on your roof before this made any sense at all.

edit   cali is $$ 40 cents a kwatt so a 3080 makes 1032-480 = 552 in 5 months but look at the competition across usa.

So here goes  for a 3080 set to 220 watts just mining nothing else will pull about 325 watts or 7-8kwatts a day.

So:
10 cent power = 80 cents a day  about 120 dollars in 150 days. so 1032-120 = 912 profit. card is better than free.
20 cent power = 160 cents a day about 240 dollars in 150 days so 1032-240 = 792 profit card is just about free.

I know most of usa is close to 20 cents not 10 cents a kwatt.

But these economics are causing the demand to not go away.

My power is 14 cents in winter and 17 cents in summer I am in NJ much of the northeast home Power cost is 15 to 25 cents. So a ton of people are building and looking for gear. What is worse is the restriction to the gear is helping mining profits since no miner can flood the market with cards.

Never mind
CPU chips = short stock
Phone chips = short stock
Car chips = Short stock.

Laptop demand = record high.
phone demand = record high.
gpu demand = record high.

The incentive to divert cards to miners = huge profits as a miner will say why not pay 1000 for a 3080 I have cheap power (5 cents industrial) I will pay the card off in 6-7 months. So he is willing to pay more. It truly sucks  If you need a card and game a bit.

Wow I had no idea it was this profitable. And my power cost is like 7.38 cents/kWh. If I ever get a 3080 maybe I'll do a bit of mining to offset the costs...

This is what I did with my gaming friends in PA, NJ, NY, CT I showed them the math and would get them to upgrade to the next level of gpu and think of the mining profits as an exotic rebate.

Just don't go nuts and think you should build a lot of rigs to get rich. price crash on coins could hurt you a lot.

If you push the 3080 to a constant 220 watts it may be too hard on the card.

But there is no reason not to run it at 200 watts or 190 watts and get back a bit less.

Evga 1080ti hybrid  cards were very good back in the day.
They are know to last 3 years of mining at 180-200 watts.
evga 3080 have more cooling so should be good if not pushed.

guess they stopped making the 3888 just like all the other non-FTWs I am only 15 seconds out on that card and sadly Think I will have to wait a life time for it I might get the air cooled card that I signed up for on Oct 11 before the 3888 O well guess I get to hold on to my money a little longer and guess it is ok I will need to start saving for the price increase.

I got all excited about 3 weeks (going on 4 weeks now) when the 3080s xc3 ultras were moving every week and I fell under an hour to getting a card, now that I'm close it has all halted to zero. That seems to be my luck, with Chinese new year coming up I bet it'll be March before I probably see a card if I'm lucky lol. The wait continues, as I stare at my hybrid cooling kit sitting in my office needing a card to be installed on.

So if the 3898 cards drop tomorrow and Thursday like it did today then we should clear the congestion this week
That means my 12/17 at 13:52 should come up by end of next week
Edit-Just in time for factory shutdown in Eastern Asia

Yes, sounds great but the mining rewards are variable.  The are definitely not the same day to day.  Unless Ethereum keeps on increasing, the rewards will decrease as more miners/hashrate come online.  Also, EIP 1559 will cut miner rewards by approximately 30% once it is implemented (burn the tx fees).  While today mining is great and I am enjoying the rewards, but the future is far from assured given what is being proposed.  And I didn't even mention proof of stake that is on the near horizon.

If you have a 3000 series graphics card, yes, great to mine on it.  Build out a rig or more?  Not exactly the best time as there is a ton of risk and no guarantee you will make your money back.  Just my 2 cents.

guess they stopped making the 3888 just like all the other non-FTWs I am only 15 seconds out on that card and sadly Think I will have to wait a life time for it I might get the air cooled card that I signed up for on Oct 11 before the 3888 O well guess I get to hold on to my money a little longer and guess it is ok I will need to start saving for the price increase.

I'm 10G-P5-3888-KR 12/10/2020 9:10:29 AM PT No so its pretty sad seeing that it hasn't dropped since december 10th

For clarity, the front of the 3888 queue is currently on 12/10.  It last moved on 12/22 (it moved a grand total of four seconds on that day).

I know someone who mines. Last I heard, he had a rented space full of machines with about 90-100 GPU's in use, mostly EVGA 2080's, but they are being sold off and replaced with 3090's. The electric bill alone is thousands of dollars per month. It took a 6 figure investment to get it going. And you can't mine all the time, only when it's cost effective. He said that last year was a good year and he cleared about 10k per month on average after costs.

If you only have one card it's not worth the wear and tear on the card. I also wouldn't buy a card that was previously used for mining.

I have a joint mining operation with some friends, but it's strictly small time stuff - hobby only. We each clear around 200 each per month, depending on the going rate, with one guy getting extra because he's providing space and power. Please don't flame me, it's all 1000 series GPUs and we have no plans to upgrade in the near future

Re: New EVGA.com Notification Checkout Process 2021/01/26 16:55:29 (permalink)
Tuesday brought multiple drops out and the 3070 XC3 Ultra certainly benefited from the overnight hours...it is now on day 2 of its timeline.  But some queues remain dropless and others’ drops moved the queue only a little bit farther down the road.  Hopefully Wednesday and Thursday bring heavier drops...goodness knows, we are thirsty.  Very, very thirsty.

Stay safe...keep the faith...we will each secure our card...eventually. See you again tomorrow.

As of 4:40 pm PT Tuesday evening, January 26, this is the status of the North American queues (bolded font represents movement from the morning of Tuesday, January 26; italicized parentheticals calculate the length of movement from the prior report):
