Let it be stated I love EVGA an likely will continue to be a loyal customer. I am new to computer building as of April this year so I don't have previous builds. I borrowed a friend's 970 for start up.
I signed up for my queues first in April. I put in the time, stalked anywhere they could be bought. In June I was able to get into a couple lines within 24 hours. I was able to get Elite membership after purchasing EVGA equipment and was able to get into two more later in June within 12 hours. At the end of June I managed to get into a 3070Ti line within 15 minutes. A month later I got my card.
A month after that, I was able to get my brother a 3060, he got that to hold him over until one of the 3070Ti cards I was in line for within 12 hours became available. Then the 3060 will go to his friend and he would take the 3070ti.
He has his owe Queues but didn't get into them until much later so I was happy to have the opportunity to help him and some of his friends.
Changing the queue system probably wasn't the best idea in my opinion. Weather you got in late or early when you signed up you knew the rules. If you put in the time you would have had ample opportunity to better your position and I expect there will be even more as things move on. This card shortage isn't anything new. I was months later and still managed to get in good position as late as June.
Changing the rules does nothing but shuffle the deck and probably put alot of dedicated people to the back. Technically speaking I could make another account with my wife name and be better off than the account I put all my effort into to get into good positions. Will there now be a race to create new accounts and resign up for all the people that just got screwed over? Seems a good opportunity to cut 63% of the lines...
It is what it is and im not going to make a new account. I just wanted to point out this was the system that was most praised for its fairness but is no longer deserving of it.
Either way some scalpers will game the system, at least before they had a solid argument of fairness and as good of security as can reasonably be expected. What solid argument do they have now for this change. Gets more cards into the hands of gamers? Maybe? Maybe not? I dont think anyone really has that answer. The bottom line is the integrity of the system is now gone because they could just change the rules at any point.
Just my 2 cents. Happy for all the enthusiast who will get their cards sooner. You deserve one as much as anyone else and this is not your doing, you just get the benefits. My comments are directed at EVGA's decision.

staypuft @enewt, it would be interesting to track that information and see how many first time Group A queuers are really in line for a K|NGP|N as their first and only queue card. My understanding is that you can still get notified once a given queue runs out of Group A folks. That is independent of other queues.
As of late last night, I've opened up the self-reported K|NGP|N lists for registrants on that list to input their FPQ or MPQ status....

You realize that you could have queued for a card (except for elite exclusive, i.e. KINGPIN 3090 hybrid or HC) without the 100 posts, before EVGA locked the queuing system?

So my desire to remove myself from the highs and lows of the forum have run up hard against how boring my job is and how much down time I get. EVGA made a huge mistake yesterday. It's wrong and unethical to change the rules a year on in a way that retroactively punishes the actual gamers who they wish to help. If they choose not to fix it, it will damage their brand for years to come. That's the plain and simple truth. 52 years ago today, Monty Python's Flying Circus aired for the first time. How appropriate that today, this queuesday, we witness absurdity which even Graham Chapman would have said "well, that's just too far." enewt, I wish you could wave your wand and make this all better, if only to avoid me turning into a very angry wabbit with sharp and pointy teeth.

dpt17 I guess I should plan on not getting any more queue pops. What will happen when the Super series comes out? Will I be deprioritized from that since I have gotten other cards?
If you have managed to purchase ANY type of 3000 series GPU already, then forget about getting a Super (if it ever happens) - in fact, forget about getting ANY type of 3000 series card, because it won't be happening unless (a) you buy it off EBay for a massive markup and no warranty, or (b) you create a bunch of extra accounts right now using friends/family/neighbors addresses, just like the scalpers do, then you'll be rewarded for cheating. Awesome system huh?

Well thats at least a good thing. Seemed an obvious hole in the system if everything was still open. Thanks for the corrections.

This is great news IMO... way to many salty people in here. Surprised more people are not as excited about this, I thought most people wanted to stick it to the scalpers, yet a bunch of people in here are upset because they "bought" a card for a "friend"... sure sure. I've been in queue since October 2020 for a 3070... I got an alert the other day for the 3080ti but could not justify the price so I passed on it. I didn't "buy" it for a "friend" or flip it, no I did the right thing and passed on it so someone else could snag it. I'll continue waiting for the 3070/ti queue, or if I get lucky at best buy I'll remove my notifies.

Thanks for making the ethical decision Bowenac. For myself, I took my time when deciding what to queue for, because I also didn't want to be a jerk. Ended up only queuing for the 3080's, because that is what I could live with. Sure, I could have signed up for others and then sold them for profit, but that would defeat the point of using this system in good faith.

Nereusyou create a bunch of extra accounts right now using friends/family/neighbors addresses, just like the scalpers do, then you'll be rewarded for cheating. Awesome system huh? Awesome that you don't need an account! Signup different emails for different cards, as soon as you get notification you can register account for that email. It makes scalper life easier - you never know which SKU will be dead. You need less people that in case if account needed to sing up. It is obvious loophole, can't understand why EVGA allow to sign up without registered account... Things got better when they allow first 24 hours for Elite only, but it is not complete fix.

The scalper who snapped up that 3080Ti you passed on thanks you, Bowenac. Must be nice to be in a situation where you don't need whatever card you can get ASAP (like a 3060 to tide you over).

Just here to ask all of the loyal EVGA customers here (specifically the many that got cards though the system ALREADY) that are irate saying they will never buy an EVGA product again- what other GPU mfgr is doing a better job to get end users cards? Ok the system isn’t great but at least it’s something.

Well, ya caught me, (and apparently the other 2/3s on the forums who voted to leave it the same) None of us have friends, or siblings, and if we did, we most certainly wouldn't miss an opportunity to screw them over. I mean that would just be bad business. I humbly apologize and beg you for forgiveness. I am not worthy to be in the same froum as someone with such honor and integrity. Lol this guy. You do you man, I applaud your decision not to scalp. I disagree with your assessment that everyone else who goes for more then one card can only be scalping it.

Or you should be thanking me that I removed the interest of two more actual gamers that aren't heading to BB, MC, or jumping in the queue line. So since were in this imaginary world of yours, "Your very welcome!" I am less salty now that I noticed they closed the queues before they changed the rulings. This will prevent "new fokes" from jumping ahead inline of those that have been in line regardless of how many cards they have procured. Moving forward though, I still have a big concern about bot protection as that will be needed if this is going to be a thing for future SKUs.

Ladies and Gentlemen, hostility isn't the answer. The only "blame" for the change is the company itself, EVGA. I am a loyal EVGA customer, and will likely still be after this debacle. We as a community need to discourage the hostility, blaming, flaming, ect. We are better than this. In the end, this still sucks but not much sense in going after each other. It is what it is. I highly doubt that any of the complaints will change anything (again).

Can't say I'm too thrilled about the changes but I'm glad it was now instead of 2 weeks down the road. I'm 2 weeks our from the 3090 ftw3 ultra model and was going to use that until I got the kingpin hybrid then send the old one off to a friend, but guess now I wait for the kingpin...

I know it's hard to believe but there are folks in this world that do things to help others. Before money and greed ran rampant, folks bound together in towns and on farms to combine their skillsets for the greater good. It's the most fundamental trait of human society that has allowed us to evolve up the evolutionary chain. I would even implore you, wholeheartedly, to give it a try. The joy that comes from helping another cannot be understated.

enewt It is the Queue Announcement Anniversary. I couldn't bring myself to say "Happy...QAA" because this is hardly an anniversary worth celebrating. As a reminder, EVGA changed the Queue rules yesterday. In short, if you have purchased a 30 series card from the EVGA queue, your remaining queue registrations are deprioritized until others in the queue have purchased a 30 series card from the Queue. If I had my druthers, I would have made the change prospectively -- not retroactively -- so as to afford those EVGA account holders the opportunity to make an informed decision about whether to click the “buy” button for a lesser card than their preferred 30 series gpu. Instead EVGA has left it for “.” As of 9:10 am PT Tuesday, October 5, this is the status of the North American queues (bolded font represents movement from the morning of October 4; italicized parentheticals calculate the length of movement from the prior report)): ( links removed to shorten the post and void clutter ) May your remaining wait be shorter than you anticipate; it is already longer than you deserve. Best of luck! twene
This is the best piece of tech news I heard in a long time and really gives me hope! But I cannot help but ask - is there any way we could get the same information on the European Queue? Thanks for any sort of reply in advance!

The real truth is there are zero switching costs for going to a different card (except Gigabyte). By doing this there are going to be a lot of loyal enthusiasts that have to go elsewhere (and be pissed doing so) while their cards go to professional scalpers/miners running dozens of email addresses. And we all KNOW that scalpers are getting a metric butt ton of these cards because a week after a drop dozens/hundreds of the exact sku's show up on Ebay/FB Marketplace/etc, and many of the idiots are dumb enough to use the same username. And it's not like the competition is bad, I actually put an AMD rig together for someone with a 6800xt reference and that thing was amazing, and has been flawless for him. The AMD driver issues are a thing of the past, and hell, with that Amazon game killing 3090 FTW's.... I was one that did offload a couple cards at cost to others because I wanted a specific card at a specific price that I am/was less than a minute from. I knew that if I was selling the gd things at cost to people I personally knew or shared blood with that they WOULD be getting used by actual gamers so why not? If I'd known they were going to pull this, I still would have helped them but it would have been more Best Buy online camping/AMD camping/etc versus unknowingly giving up my shot at getting the card I want (3070ti XC3). I haven't been bothering with Best Buy's BS, nor worried about the Shuffle boning me for the 103rd time, because I knew I was maybe 2-3 weeks out on the card I wanted and everyone in my family is now set thanks exclusively to me and my prowess at this minefield. The problem isn't that this is a bad setup, it's that they did it after a year of the system being in place, with no warning. The only way this would have been okay is they had done it for purchases after implementation, period. That way anyone that was in the screwed situation that hundreds of people have posted about being in could be like OKAY I'm passing on any card that isn't my KP or 3080ti Hybrid or w/e, relatives can bugger off and figure it out for themselves. If an EVGA card popped up would I buy it? Probably. But this has drastically soured my trust in their word and communication abilities. At this point it really comes down to how do they respond/adjust.

Happy with the queue changes, will give a better opportunity to those of us waiting for our first card, which is the point of the queue.
