bigredx86 Are you kidding me???? No time stamps yet??? lol
I have a theory about that. I don't expect any drops today. nomoss The other part of this which is really frustrating:
Not only did EVGA change the rules of the game out of basically nowhere. They announced it in a forum post.
People sitting in the queue who don't follow the forums have no idea that they should now ENTIRELY CHANGE THEIR STRATEGY. No email has been sent to these people. And when 5 months from now they get a notify they cannot use, they will have missed ALL THAT TIME THEY COULD HAVE LOOKED AT OTHER SOURCES.
It's wrong, it's poorly implemented, and it's just AWFUL customer service from a company whose claim to fame IS their CS.
They announced the queue in a forum post...around 7:27 pm a year ago today, give or take a minute or two. But, yes, a few things about this...suboptimal. But let's have some faith....

B0baganooshThat's already a thing they call step-up. You can't use EVGA Bucks for Step-Up Beside of that, Step-Up selection of cards very limited. Also you have to pay shipping both way and Sales Tax based on full amount of new card. Not mention separate queue for step-up. Not a good option in this situation.
B0baganooshMy idea was to help people with multiple users in one household who are not scalpers as well as the tide-over card buyers. Those users may want similar series cards, not different.
I mentioned the limitation on step-up, albeit in an edit, but it was edited within a minute of posting the original comment...so I tried lol. Item two there, yes, I understand, but what I suggested was what would be considered a compromise or "middle ground" that could effectively meet the desired change they are after, but still make most* people happy with the minimal change to the original rules (*any change will still impact some negatively and others positively, as I also said before, so I shouldn't have to put this note here, but you'll act like I didn't say it before so...here's your note).

I would argue that announcing the queue in a forum post was GOOD customer service for existing customers and further expanded their potential customer base once news got out to the press. While announcing this change in a forum post will destroy both their past and newly formed base once people start getting burned.

johcamp21 I know it's hard to believe but there are folks in this world that do things to help others. Before money and greed ran rampant, folks bound together in towns and on farms to combine their skillsets for the greater good. It's the most fundamental trait of human society that has allowed us to evolve up the evolutionary chain. I would even implore you, wholeheartedly, to give it a try. The joy that comes from helping another cannot be understated.
If you only knew... I help friends all the time when in need, I was able to get a PS5 for a friend the other day. I wouldn't be upset if I wouldn't have been able to get it because I had already got one somewhere else... I would do anything for my friends and family. I'm not sure why you and some other jump to conclusions and assume my whole response was blaming members of scalping/flipping... Use your brain for a minute, and re-read it. I was saying, I thought people were against scalpers. I wasn't saying everyone on EVGA and who have signed up in the queue are scalpers, but I can guarantee the odds are that some have done just that. If you or anyone else already had a chance at a card, and have already purchased one... why should you be more entitled to as many as you "signed" up for just because you "got in line" quicker... some people have to work. Some people didn't use multiple accounts etc. It's the same as when stores limit items to one per customer. Imagine if when best buy has GPU drops and they let the first person in line buy as many as they wanted because they were first in line, and there response was, it's ok guys, I'm buying these for my friends. How else should they do it, how is this not a good thing, why is this a bad thing? You want to help a friend? You could have told them to join the queue or wait in line, or if you prefer to give the card to a friend, hop back in the end of the line bud.

I don't think it'd be that extreme, but it will definitely burn some folks. Also, when they announced the queue system, it was the start of a thread that I don't think anybody knew would reach post #52654 (at time of writing this). To drop a big update like that in the middle of that somewhere...yeah I don't know about that idea lol. The saving grace is that they have folks like enewt and others that will repeat and remind everyone who comes in here for the next year looking for cards they can't buy.

Yes, enewt and the others here will tell them that EVGA didn't bother telling them directly (via email) something that would have informed them to change their buying strategy, and instead let them linger in hope until it becomes far too late for them to get a card. It's not just bad CS, it's morally wrong and, frankly, cowardly.

After the change to the queue I decided to remove myself from the 3 that I hadn't already cancelled. Kingpin Hybrid Kingpin Hydro 3080 FTW3 Ultra Hybrid I got lucky and last November received a 3080 FTW3 Ultra after a bit over a 2 month wait (my queue time was early evening on release day) and kicked the 3080 XC3 Ultra back to the queue ~2 weeks later. I'd hoped to snag a Kingpin and pass the 3080 to a friend but with the latest change it was clear that ship had sailed so best of luck to everyone and hope you all manage to snag a card that you'll use and enjoy.

I agree with it being bad CS, morally wrong, but I don't think I have enough information to suggest that it was cowardly. I think it is entirely possible that it was just careless.

The worst thing about this change is this thread (once our salt levels stabilize) is dead. The tracking, spreadsheets, the very joy/agony of the day to day is now toast. EVGA has taken away the rah-rah of their true fans. Enewt, myself, and others appear on the first 5 pages of this thread. What a dang ride, and now it is over for reasons that don't add up to me... It is like the Packers decided to remove all season ticket holders and distribute the seats to people who want to attend their first football game... When the "cool" wears off, and the newbies move on, you've effectively already told the die-hards that you care more about growing your reach, than dancin with who brung ya (to flip enewts argument against him lol). Edit: Wow, just read the update. I am shocked.

The solution is very simple. The next time EVA open the queue (if they ever do it for 3000 Super), all the good samaritans should ask all the people they saved from the ignominy of not owning a new brand 3000 GPU, to return the favour and spam the queue until they get 1 for each favour they made, so they can finally trash the 3000 placeholding the GPU they wish and to distribute the scraps to those in greatest need of course. However, I get the feeling that many will feel legitimated to do what they claim others are doing. Spam the queue with fake mails until they get what they feel they deserve for some divine right or meritocracy. Resulting in a huge hypocrisy.

Because it was a policy change done after the fact without consideration for the existing policy or the people it affects. That is the ONLY reason people are mad. If they'd said "Starting today, any purchase you make will bump back any of your other queues behind people that have not already purchased a card" there might have been a couple random grumblings but nothing more. Further, as many people decrying the move have stated, which I believe myself, if this had been the policy from the beginning it would have been fine as well. But it wasn't. This is punishing people for past decisions based on policy in place at that time. Add: Looks like they made an announcement, yay?

EVGA's new compromise is fair and addresses every issue I've seen here. I think it would be a good solution not only for the remainder of the 3000 series life, but going on to the next gen - as I doubt we will be swimming in GPUs then either. Thank you Jacob and EVGA for listening to the community and finding a better way forward. My faith is restored.
I think I'm going to need massive amounts of cleanser to desalinate myself. And by cleanser I mean beer.

To be clear, if/when "Super" SKUs are released, EVGA will have to have a plan for what to do with remaining queue members then. It may be as simple as unlocking the My Notifies to allow folks to replace an existing queue registration with a "Super" registration, but that is a debate for another day. Again, thanks to TEAMEVGA for working through the many competing interests to come to a more workable solution.

If you signed up last October and you havent gotten a notify yet, this change is probably going to be the best thing thats happened for you. It literally means you are probably going to get a card much faster now.

It may be as simple as unlocking the My Notifies to allow folks to replace an existing queue registration with a "Super" registration, but that is a debate for another day. Again, thanks to TEAMEVGA for working through the many competing interests to come to a more workable solution.
I hope they unlock and do what you suggest. I am sure I'll still be waiting. Went to my notifies and took care of it. I'm down to two already.
