Not the user you originally quoted but getting a 3080 Ti FTW3 Hybrid to MB costed me CAD 1941~ all in. So PST + GST + $10 UPS brokerage

Enewt I'm assuming you had gotten at least one decent card out this? But with a forum date of 9/21/20 maybe not? 

I was in the queue early for the 3897 and secured it last fall. But then one of my brothers...the one that works at a hospital and who is the most serious gamer among my brothers...his gpu crapped out that very night. So all of a sudden, within 36 hours, I went from the euphoria of having secured a gpu for my to-be-built rig to picking up the UPS box and driving it down to my brother's house to deliver it to his wife. As much as I was desperate to get off this ol' gaming laptop, I was not going to let my brother not have a gaming escape during his downtime away from the hospital...not during a pandemic. Easy decision, but some seven months later, it stings a bit.
 
But...yeah...I am ready to get my own "invite to purchase" email.

Wow I came close to giving my 3897 to a friend but he was able to get his own, I had a 650W PSU that didn't have 3 8pin so had to rig it until I got a 850w, well hopefully the associates code traffic will lessen the sting

I guess I'm the odd man out.  I've been in IT for 31 years, and I LOVE working on my home technology when I have spare time.  I spent more than 5 hours this past weekend on my home network setup, and will be spending more time on it tonight.  (I'm trying to get outside-in access through my two firewalls (and therefore double NAT), locked down from a single authorized IP address, and it's proving trickier than it should.  Even though I have the interfaces set to allow RFC 1918 traffic, OPNsense isn't letting me route through the private network address space between the firewalls (I have a true DMZ, which is where my WiFi sits).  This is the testing ground before setting up Wireguard VPN access.  I'm looking forward to solving the puzzle!)
 
Yeah, my wife shakes her head at me the way that I'm sure y'all are doing right now...  :)

Don't get me wrong I enjoy tech projects at home. I just can't stand having to fix things that shouldn't need to be fixed. Like the AMD cards and their BIOS issues. I stuck a 6800xt in my kids computer and it has nothing but trouble with drivers/radeon crashing along with crash to desktop during games. Things that don't normally happen with an EVGA card. Shoot at one point I had a full on domain at home with a firewall hosted as a VM on a poweredge server.

I'm going into battle on your behalf as well tomorrow if my work schedule allows, you deserve that at least with how much you have done for everyone here.

Has anyone had any luck with regular EVGA support getting them a missed queue position? I got a notification for the 3080 FTW3 on Friday but I didn't get the email itself until nearly 12 hours after it was sent.

I emailed ordernotify@evga.com and all they told me was to try emailing them again when the GPU was back in stock in a week or two...

I don't have Twitter to reach out directly to Jacob about this either. Is there a way to tag users on the forums?

After upgrading from a EVGA 980SC and installing the 3080 FTW Hybrid that I finally got last week, I can't lie..... The frame rates are a little underwhelming. I was expecting a little more for ≈ $970. Oh well, maybe I will cave and pay another $60 for the latest Resident Evil game so I can at least check out the RT capabilities of this card while I wait for gaming applications to catch up with latest generation GPU's. I also had to buy a new 850W PSU because the old card has dual 6-pins and the 3080 requires three 8-pins. Any PSU under 850W is probably not going to cut it, even if it's < 2 years old like the 750W that I just pulled out of my rig.
 
Boy, am I glad that I didn't go for the 3060/3070. That would not have felt like much of an upgrade over the 980.
