muzikvillain Anybody's order from Friday, the 11th shipped out yet?
My 3888 ordered early Friday, still hasn't left the warehouse according to UPS.
Contact EVGA about it
Already did. They said the order pallet is already processed and either UPS didn't pick it up or has scanned it. Wanted to see if any other Friday order have experienced the same. I live a few miles from EVGA so UPS said Next Day Delivery, but here I am with no scan updates from UPS and EVGA saying they did their part

If you're gaming at 1080p with a 3080, then you have to remember that the limiting factor is going to be your CPU. 3080 is really all about the 2K or even 4K. The 3080Ti and 3090 are excellent at 4k, but the 3080 is good too.

Even with something like say, a 5950x? Asking because I have that processor and an Asus Strix XG17AHPE 17.3" 240Hz portable monitor on the way.

enewt Regarding the 3080 Ti, we might get a little straggler drop on Monday, but I think the late Friday afternoon drop was what JacobF was alluding to in his tweets.
enewt, No doubt you know a lot more about this process than I do. But I respectfully suggest that your long experience with these slow moving ques has made you a little too pessimistic, understandably. I do a lot of lurking and this is my guess. Late Friday EVGA got a large shipment of 3080 Ti's, 3967-KR's. I'm picturing a large pallet load! It has been stated somewhere that EVGA does not send out Notify Que emails if they cannot have the shipment ready for the carrier pickup that day. I think that they stopped sending emails on Friday long before they exhausted the supply. I believe that the emails for 3967's will restart on Monday with a significant quantity available. Someone quoted Jacob as saying "more on Monday." I'm expecting that on Monday the 3967 que will get to around 8:00AM que time if not further.
While there is still the possibility of a drop this afternoon, I think today is turning out to be a stereotypical straggler Monday. I do appreciate your optimism and I hope you keep bringing it...we need a lot more of that around here. As I often say, hope springs eternal. Best of luck on your watch!
Thanks enewt. Boy was I wrong! I guess they won't be getting large shipments. So it's a week to week watch then. Glad you're here to help.

Depending on the game engine, yes. But, yeah, you are definitely not going to be limited too much with that CPU, lol

That's why Port royal scores are the best in judging the GPU, a 3900x and a 5950x will have about the same result, but time spy will be way different

coldrain85 After upgrading from a EVGA 980SC and installing the 3080 FTW Hybrid that I finally got last week, I can't lie..... The frame rates are a little underwhelming. I was expecting a little more for ≈ $970. Oh well, maybe I will cave and pay another $60 for the latest Resident Evil game so I can at least check out the RT capabilities of this card while I wait for gaming applications to catch up with latest generation GPU's. I also had to buy a new 850W PSU because the old card has dual 6-pins and the 3080 requires three 8-pins. Any PSU under 850W is probably not going to cut it, even if it's < 2 years old like the 750W that I just pulled out of my rig. Boy, am I glad that I didn't go for the 3060/3070. That would not have felt like much of an upgrade over the 980.
100% the same feeling here. I went from a 1080 SC to a 3080 Founders. I am a big proponent on playing all games on max settings. For an upgrade that was rated at over 100% increase in power/capabilities, I am maybe getting just 25% more frames at best.
I'm curious what CPU and memory you two are using. I know my brother had a 3400G CPU and when he upgraded from a 1660 Super to a 3070 he was only seeing a little bit of FPS improvement. He had a MASSIVE CPU bottleneck. On top of it not allowing x16 lanes of PCI-e, it was also just having a big overhead issue where the CPU was just not able to feed the GPU enough information. Things that improved his performance until he upgraded to a 5800X (which really unlocked his 3070): making sure XMP profile was on for his memory, making sure BIOS had his PCIe slot set up as PCI-e gen 3 (this can be 4 depending on CPU/motherboard), setting the power usage to "maximum performance" in the Nvidia driver utility (check the 30-series troubleshooting page for more info on some of these), but really it boiled down to the 3400G just not having enough power to unleash the RTX 3070. He put in a 5800X and now his frames are dramatically higher than before. If you look at your CPU and GPU utilization while you're gaming and your GPU isn't at 99-100%...you have something else going on.
I am on an 8700K on a z370 EVGA FTW board. Nothing overclocked. 16GB of 3200 Corsair vengeance RAM. 750W PSU. XMP turned on. Two NVMe drives, most games on a Samsung 970 Pro. I play on Max settings all games at 1440p. Not sure about the PCI-e thing since I am not familiar with that stuff. I have used Afterburner with Rivatuner to see the stats while running and nothing is maxed out.
I'm running a Ryzen 7 3800X 4.0Ghz on a ASUS Strix X570-E MB. 32Gb of Ram. 2560 x 1440p. I will check the PCIe but I doubt that's the issue. Games like the next Forza racing series and GTA6 that will really make use of the 3000 series capabilities are still 1-3 years away, so my first impression will likely wear off down the road. I also paid too much and waited a long time to get the card, so that could be factoring into my first impression as well. The 980SC could barely handle the really busy areas like Athens in AC- Odyssey, and the game would sometimes become unplayable during the conquest battles, especially if it was warm in the room. The card would get hot and the fans would respond by whining which is why I have sworn off air cooled cards from now on. The 3080 handles AC- Odyssey pretty easily, so it is a significant upgrade. I messed with the settings some more and, yep, I'm getting about 46 fps on ultra settings with native resolution and refresh rate. Resolution modifier is maxed at 200%. The 980SC would have crawled in a hole and died if I tried to run it on those settings. If I turn the resolution modifier down to 140% I get 48 fps. Should I be getting better frame rates? IDK.

To clarify, are you running at 4K with a 200% resolution modifier? That might explain it... I would leave that at 100% if you are at 4K. I don't think you'll gain much fidelity by setting it at 200%, and you're likely to see a big performance hit. It's about equivalent to running the game in 6K, I believe (or 8K? I think it's 6K). It's super-scaling, is what I'm saying. Kind of overkill at 4K. Even 140% is taxing.

Can't you turn it down to like 85% with no discernable amount of fidelity loss and only big gains to your fps?

Already did. They said the order pallet is already processed and either UPS didn't pick it up or has scanned it.

My 3070 TI shipped Friday UPS has it and shows Wednesday delivery.
Well for the last 3 days I only see "label created," hopefully UPS updates their tracking soon because EVGA already says their part is done.
I ordered a card Thursday and same thing here. Expected delivery tomorrow, but no shipping/tracking details whatsoever, just label created.

depends on what card you got and when. This has alot to do with it. To the guys having the issues with 3080s, Im running a 2080 super ftw ultra and play control and bfv on max settings at 1080p getting 140fps down to 80ish on control. But you are talking a graphic intensive game. I had a z390 prime, i7 9700k, 1000 seasonic plat., 16gb 2666 ram corsair at the time. I have recently upgraded and in the process of building a new rig

No, they are online stores such as pccomponents, but in general all stores have that price, € 2000

nomoss If you're gaming at 1080p with a 3080, then you have to remember that the limiting factor is going to be your CPU. 3080 is really all about the 2K or even 4K. The 3080Ti and 3090 are excellent at 4k, but the 3080 is good too.
Can I ask what 4K gaming monitor you're using? I've been looking at Asus and LG for one. Really want to play Doom and Flight Simulator in 4K, especially now with the TOP Gun DLC.

muzikvillain Anybody's order from Friday, the 11th shipped out yet?
My 3888 ordered early Friday, still hasn't left the warehouse according to UPS.
Contact EVGA about it
Already did. They said the order pallet is already processed and either UPS didn't pick it up or has scanned it.
Wanted to see if any other Friday order have experienced the same.
Wow UPS must either be really backed up with packages or something ****y going on. I live 30 mins from EVGA so my expected delivery date was next day on the 12th and now it's the 14th with no updates whatsoever. UPS, what the ****?
