Sometimes I wish there were no associate codes. These forums would look very different.

I like the codes overall as it provides the person who uses the code a "discount" but also provides some reward to the one who's code was used.  It's just there are those who are going to hustle or game the system for their own good.  I like that when I buy stuff that I can use a code to help me with the cost, but also give something a little back to those who have helped me.  The program is good, but you will always find those who will try and game the system for their own good or beliefs.

The honest truth is no matter who's code you use, the person buying really does help themselves when they apply a associates code.  I would hope that they would remember who has helped them through either tough spots with their pc or helped them keep their sanity in the queue while we are waiting for our spots to come up and use their codes to give a little back to that person.

I mean, I like the codes as well, but my point is that it clearly brings out the worst in some people. Even amongst the less toxic members of the community, I wonder how many people would genuinely be trying to help if there wasn't some money to be made doing so (and yes, I am fully aware that I have my own associate's code in my signature).

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the community spreadsheet ☺️. I hope you all get your card soon!

If you found the spreadsheet useful, please consider using my associate code for your next purchase:

What do you know? Nick being shady and selfish once again. This guy has been a nuisance since he joined this thread. He'll likely send more DMs asking users what their problem with him is...as if it's not abundantly clear at this point.

Please use Associate Code at your checkouts for up to 10% discounts on all your EVGA purchases: VDN2319M4O569J4

Re: New EVGA.com Notification Checkout Process 2021/05/14 13:50:55 (permalink)
I just looked at what was mentioned, and that was kind of not cool.

Whatever the hell that was though, let's take another step back and look at what the hell this whole code business is about.  First, anyone who is helpful would be so without that code being a carrot.  Now would they maybe post a little less?  Possibly.  Second, not everyone who is helpful bothers to share their code, for whatever their reason is.  Doesn't make either person more or less helpful.  Third, there are people who do not have an associate's code and they are often just as helpful as the first and second case.  So why use a code?  It saves you money.  Choose wisely if you like, but who cares, you still save.

In this case, I am a little disappointed in what Nick did.  He's ok in my book most of the time.  Yea he's a little like a used cars salesman, but he does has have some helpful advice.  Tighten it up Nick.

With that said, it almost 5 pm on the east coast.  The vast majority who signed up before Jan 12 did not get their price locked in.  It's not the end of the world.  It doesn't mean it doesn't sting a little, but if you look at the landscape, what else is more affordable?  Or less annoying.  I can't even count the number sorry you weren't selecteds in my email.

Congrats to everyone who snuck in.  The rest of us will soldier on and check out the weeks to come.  Good luck, and have a wonderful weekend.

Yeah, sure, trying to steal from others is totally friendly and helpful. (edit: ugh, speaking of sarcasm...<that was)

Normally, I agree that he tries to be helpful. He fails at that quite a bit and sometimes comes off as rude and arrogant, considering he makes assumptions that are wrong from time to time, but mistakes happen and I try not to get too grumpy about it. It is the internet after all. Usually, you can attribute his seeming rude to a bit of a language or cultural barrier. The world is full of different cultures and humor is not unanimous. Sarcasm for example is just a way of life in the north-east US, but frowned upon in parts of California and others, and that's before you leave the US. I make mistakes too, everybody does, but I own them and try to only offer advice or "help" when I actually know the answer to something or have helpful ideas. Some people just state their opinion as fact and that's where you can get into trouble.

In this case, what he did was crossing a line in my opinion, because it deals with money and how other people's money is handled. An analogy would be if you had two people across the room from each other (for example, a restaurant-goer and a waiter) and one tried to hand the waiter a $20 tip. A third party is in the middle and says "here, I'll help you get it to him" and then puts the money in his pocket and walks away. That's not helpful. Also, since you cannot adjust where the money goes or who's code you used after a sale is processed on this site, there's no "takesies backsies" or laughing it off...It may or may not have gone through...it may or may not be a "lot of money" to some people, but I don't know the people in question and if you stole $20 from me in my younger years...we would have had a real problem.

I got zero EVGA Busks today if it will make you happy. I did not tried to steal from any one - all my intentions explained in this post.

As for "steal"... we all steal from EVGA here. Intensions behind associate codes to bring new customers to EVGA. During shortage it doesn't work - we tell existing customers here to use codes and EVGA makes less money that they can.

Use associate code to save 3% on your EVGA GPU purchase! And up to 10% on other products!

so i missed every chance at a discount card.

I signed up late for the king pin I am number 66 on that list but I was not going to get a discount. So I will wait to next week and hope I get something.

Okay a few questions. How do I know what card I am getting the LHR or the older full hashing cards?

Most of my customers will want a full featured card and not the watered down LHR models.

All I know for sure right now is the 3060 is a slower version.

I do not know about

3060ti
3070
3080
3090
kingpin

I listed myself for every card once I figured out how slow this was going to be and only have received 1x 3060 which is slowed on eth (does have a workaround)

Since no one seems to know about the queue or how slow or fast it will be.  I have been following since last year. It would be nice to know how can I tell what I will be getting.

Nike - your analogy is fantastic.  Your assumption about where sarcasm ends is misguided.  It is a humor that doesn't fly well outside of the US for sure. It was an interesting aspect of Seinfeld.  But it is not the sole chuckle gatherer outside of the NE.  I might be alone in thinking this, but sarcasm was kind of seeded in Monty Python.  Hyperbole more for MP, but the point is it's not NE-centric.  That's a bit of that NY-Boston ego setting in.  Love both cities, but they are a little self focused.

Weird, I can't seem to be able to login to my account except for here. Getting an "Error: Please contact the website manager message." on the main website login page.

On another note, I kinda wonder if the LHR cards coming soon will be anything different performance wise in games and other non mining applications.

It's getting wild in here. I was going to use nicks code for my card coming up but idk now.

It sure has.  Heck, I kinda knew the week's release was pretty much done about mid-day Wednesday.  But, one holds out hope and we all gather at the corner store every week in anticipation of goodies.  Goodies that are never in enough supply nor the right flavor.  Some kids get the flavor we want and we get a little selfishly resentful when we aren't the ones this week.  I choose to stay positive (for the most part) and focus on truly important things.  Have a Great Weekend...get out and do something that doesn't require a PC...

Maybe you should read what he did. Willfully choosing to be deceiving in such a nature is not a good mark of character.

You did say "Havent read up on what has happened and dont care to" so I am probably the fool replying to you, especially if blindly defending "a cool guy" is a good move in your mind.

No I build rigs for people I do not over charge I have been doing it since 2006 with Mac mini upgrades. I then moved to pc/gamer 2 card rigs since 2012.

In a good year I build 20-25 rigs.  This has not been a good year due to lack of gpus.
We are all allowed 1 card of every one listed I only put 3 or 4 cards on the list at first.  Once I realized the list is very slow I put every card on the list.
I still do not have an answer to the question I asked when I get a card from the list down the road will it be marked LHR or not.

Just as everyone else on this thread you very well know that the only entity that can answer that question is eVGA.

And I’m sorry but I will repeat my point of view here that if you’re building PCs for others, you really should set up an LLC and look to deal with eVGA as a business entity in a vendor/system builder capacity.

You’re different from others that get on the queues to pass the card(s) to fiends and family. You are using these consumer cards to build systems, by your own admission, for profit. The profits being minimal does not make any difference. You are taking a spot from end users with every card you’re getting from here. You may not be making as much as the scalpers are making, but still you’re getting retail cards from the queue for profit.

Personally, I don’t see much diffeeence, but that’s my humble opinion. I for one, do not have much sympathy for your concern in whether the cards you intend to get for profit has/have hash limiter or not.

CptT95Hey nick, he posted Enewts code, not his own
I get the impression you thought otherwise, but you were wrong :/
I know who is this code, but only because I often read this thread
However, it is a very good point! EVGA Associates Program FAQ:
Q. Does my Associate Code contain any personal information?
A. The Associate Code does not contain any information accessible by a third-party. The ID only contains information that will be useful to apply discounts or rewards, and other information that will allow EVGA to assign the rewards to you if someone uses your ID.
Basically associate code it is just set of meaningless letters and numbers, nothing else.
Now let's think which is more misleading "Nick recommends use this code: ***" - when people can make wrong assumption that it is Nick's code, or replacement one set of meaningless letters and numbers to another set.

Anyway... it was good opportunity to some people to dump their hate before weekend
Have great weekend everyone! Hopefully next week will start from news about postponing deadline for original prices.

Use associate code to save 3% on your EVGA GPU purchase! And up to 10% on other products!

I decided to edit this and rest for the week end. I realize many are angry they did not get a cheaper card and that today is the last day for that.

I will wait for my kingpin I was number 66 maybe it will come soon.

An LLC takes $300 a year to maintain (in MD). I should know, I have one for my hand built guitar business that has not made a single cent the last year and only made $300 the year before.

My purpose is not to bust your balls. You mentioned multiple times that you build PCs for customers for 2-300 profit (agreed minimal) and complained about the impact to your business.

I still believe setting up a business account with eVGA is the quickest way for you to get cards.

I still do not have an answer to the question I asked when I get a card from the list down the road will it be marked LHR or not.

I believe there will be a SKU change for the LHR cards. Hopefully EVGA will migrate the queue for the existing SKU into the new one since the old SKU will be obsolete but who knows.
