philipma1957Well along with those cards selling for over 5k on ebay eth is now over 4100 a coin. Almost doubled from Apr 25. Network hash rate increased by 10% during same period, which mean almost doubled profitability for miners. This is bad news for gamers...

Those are the cards Linus was shown with from much earlier. Some were allocated to a local event and the others went to the VAG program that were sold through that video on the 6th.

philipma1957What does this mean? EVGA is sending cards to Linus Tech Tips for promotional use ("selling" but not really standard retail since you need to obsessively watch LTT videos and answer an LTT quiz to be allowed to buy) rather than using them to fulfill the queue. Hardly a surprise at this point, especially with EVGA having the LTT 50% off code promotion for peripherals. Unlike the "Well, they have contract agreements" reasoning for why cards go to Amazon, Newegg, Micro Center and other retail distribution channels, this has rubbed people poorly since it's a new promotion made well after the queue was established and is EVGA prioritizing LTT over people in the queue for these cards. Which isn't to say that you need to care, just trying to explain what you asked about.

Morning All. Since I am getting so close on the 3897 and 3657, EVGA will switch to filling different SKUs. Let's hope it doesn't work out that way. In any event, good luck to those who are closer to the finish line than me. No Whammies, No Whammies, No Whammies.

Thank you so it does relate to the queue as it slows it down. Just like the new all time high price of ETH will slow the queue down. I am not mad at EVGA. Most of my $10000+ in purchases from them since 2012 are for builds for other people not my self. I started in custom pc building with 2006 Mac minis as I would self them upgraded and service them myself. Apple locked the Mac mini down in 2014 I was shifting toward window builds in 2012. Mining came along and My most common builds have been 2 card miner/gamer rigs. I like evga gpus as they don't break much. I have owned over 20 of them with zero rma's . These last months have shut my business down. I had 1x 3090 sold out from under me by Best Buy I have had 1x 3080 sold out from under me by Newegg Shuffle I have had 1x 3070 sold out from under me by b&h photo. Evga let me have 1x 3060 and did not screw me it is coming today. It is tough for me as my 25-30 build a year are not going to happen and if make a few hundred a build so I will lose out on 300x25 = 7500 this year. That money is helpful to my living expenses. I fear we may never see the end of scalping cards that is tough for me.

In all fairness philipma, if you’re doing that many builds in a normal year you should setup an LLC and look into opening a vendor/system builder account with manufacturers.

That's a good point. It's also much easier to allocate expenses (including % of home used for business) to lower the taxes on your earnings.

Such BS, I wish there was a way EVGA/NVIDIA could sell these with something like a hardware lock that would only allow them to run on the PC that you purchased if for etc... especially on something like the KP card which has low availability.
What would you then do if you needed to replace your motherboard or you wanted to upgrade components in your PC? I get what you're saying but that would be a terrible solution.

They could do it so that it is pre-registered with the manufacturer before the consumer gets it. That is a lot of work, though, and I bet that the Amazons of the world would buck at that thought.

You can re-register it with EVGA, and it could also have an expiration as well. Say after 6 months from the purchase date it would be open. Just something I wish they could do to help make it much more difficult for the scalpers and easier on the people that actually want to use the cards. lordrichter

I don't think the KP cards are sold anywhere but through EVGA so Amazon really isn't an issue here, but for other cards I can see what you mean. I'm mostly just talking about cards purchased directly from the vendor like we can via the EVGA queue...

If you celebrate it? Look, I know it's probably a made-up day by the gift card companies, but don't be jaded and not celebrate your moms. Different countries and all that, but celebrate your moms. My wife is having a really hard time with this second covid shot. I don't want to talk about things too personal, but that shot f'd up mother's day and today. Too much crying. I don't think a kingpin drop or a 3090 hybrid will make her better. Probably make her worse. She was really upset by this guitar I bought. She was like you are replacing me with that guitar. Not at all, can't replace her. Still, I can be a little selfish, keep it quiet, and hope they drop. Good luck, and hug your moms and wives if applicable. Cheers.

I think the only viable way is to track serial numbers and tie them to accounts that purchased the cards. If a certain SN gets registered on a different account, they both get flagged, the first as a scalper. Unfortunately this wouldn't work either. A scalper can easily spam their way to Elite on a throwaway account and probably don't care if the buyer has troubles afterward. Or they can be a bit smarter and gift the account to the buyer. And what if a very generous person is buying this is a gift for a family member? Regardless of that family member's elite status this is a very legitimate purpose.

With the Kingpin, yeah it is sad to see on EBAY.
But do you really want the company telling you how you can use your card, if you can give it away, sell it?
Stop and think about where it can lead in a few steps, then look up John Deer, and how an owner can be fined for changing a part on the tractor they bought.
The limiter from NVIDA will just be the start, next will be your doing 3d renders you have to do it on this line of cards that cost 100% more, because we say so. Those thinking AMD will not follow if it means much higher profits, again look at other industries where it is common now.
Simple solutions will lead to larger issues, one has to understand the entire system as a whole, before one can build worth wild changes.
EVGA is the best of the worse atm. The hope is you will get a card if you wait, reality is some SKUS are dead, will never be made. As new products are released more SKUs will be left to die, yet EVGA will not admit that those cards will not be made.
The Fair thing to do , which would take more than a bit of work, is offer to those waiting goin on what now 6 months, is priority in a new SKU.
Or they can just keep making new SKUs and never mention the ones left behind.
