CptT95 Problem with that logic, is that top models used to top like 8-900 bucks max for flagship, aka the xx80ti, then 2080ti hit shelves starting at 1200 and now we got the "real" flagship, aka 3090, "starting" at 1500 minimum, and going for over 2K those who could afford a 800 buck card for the best gaming performance will now need to swallow the horse sized pill of over 2 stacks, well over double pre-20 series flagship pricing
The problem with that logic is that the price of everything has gone up and you have to adjust accordingly. In 2005, I was looking at picking up a brand new F-250 pickup. The base model started at $25,000. Instead, I picked up a fully loaded Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with both the hard and soft top options for $32,000. Now price out a base model F-250 today, or a fully loaded Wrangler. I've been driving the same Nissan Versa for years now because the cost of new vehicles is insane to me and I'm not interested. I'll keep my car until the wheels literally fall off and then find a good deal on something used.
You're talking about over 10 years of price creep about the cars. We're talking about the price for the top-tier card going up almost 2x in 2 generations: Model Launch Launch MSRP (USD) Founders Edition GeForce GTX 1080 Ti March 10, 2017 $699 Nvidia Titan Xp April 6, 2017 $1200 So technically speaking, the Titan Xp gave us precedent for the 2080 Ti coming out at $1200... but the GTX 1080 Ti was the for all intents & purposes, Alpha/top dog of the 10-series cards. Then you have the 20-series, where the 2080 was around the same price as the 1080 Ti... then the 2080 Ti came out & everyone was like "I guess, the performance is worth the price increase": Model Launch Launch MSRP (USD GeForce RTX 2080 Super July 23, 2019 $699GeForce RTX 2080 Ti September 27, 2018 $999+ And now we have the 3090 "not for gamers" gaming card. Launched at $1499 MSRP for the base/FE model, and now they're selling for $1800-$2500 on the regular, and that's from official retailers, not even talking about EBay prices. So from 2017 to now, we've seen the "top dog" GPU for a class go from $699 base price with high end models topping out in the $899 range or so, to the 3090 being that expensive. That's what we're talking about. That sudden & large of a price increase to "play the game" of having the highest end GPU possible, is pretty insane. You could argue the 3080 is meant to be the highest end "gaming" card, and since it launched at "$700" MSRP, the price didn't creep at all, but the Titan Xp then RTX 2080 Ti launches at $1000-$1200 then $1200+ indicates to me NVidia intended these cards for gamers, and it's crazy that we went from $700 on the 1080 Ti to $1500+ on the 3090, in 3 years (3090 launched in late 2020, 1080 Ti launched in 2017).

Dabadger84 In before they discover this also effects certain games that are GPU memory intensive & they have to undo it with an updated BIOS or some crap :-P
Please, don't ruin my hopes! I really hope that LHR chips will make a difference. ....
I am thinking evga will need to redo the entire queue. This is not good for the queue's future. I wonder if EVGA is going to end the queue or ask for waivers if they sell LHR to old queue listings .
Maybe there will be all new ques with LHR, the more I read about it, more potentialy problematic situation, arise. Who knows what LHR will bring later down the road?

Dabadger84 aaaand the first one has appeared on EBay:
At 4000 U$ as a starting price, this is complete madness! And the bid goes on...
Have a strange felling that we are going to see a record number with this one, something like 5000+ US. I bet you this only makes evga want to increase the price on all of their gpu's knowing that people are willing to pay ridiculous prices nowadays :( I can smell a price creep just around the corner...

I don't think it will go much higher than the highest I've seen a regular KP go for. Reason is simple: There will be more than one up which means there's competing listings so people won't bid it as high until the last one is the last one. I'd expect them to go for somewhere between $5000-$5500... if they go higher than $6k that's literally insane. The highest Kingpin AIO card that's sold that I've seen recently was $5200. But I won't be surprised if it does. The supply is so finite with the Kingpins in general and the people out there that just want the card are obviously pretty numerous when we have cards getting 20+ bids with at least 6 unique bidders (the $5200 one is the one I'm looking at for that) - and that person was even a low feedback/new user on EBay. I don't think eVGA has any reason to raise their prices further, they don't want to look like they're taking advantage of the situation like most of the other AIBs have done.

cmatt0991 Well I haven't been on here for a while because I finally scored a Asus 3070 TUF with Newegg shuffle. I had to bite the bullet and pay way over MSRP and also pay for a motherboard that I did not have any use for but at least I got a great card out of it. I really feel for you guys who are gonna wait this out.. My advice get on Newegg and subscribe to the shuffle so you get an alert every day to get a chance to buy a combo with a card. It might not be exactly what you want but at least you can get it NOW. I and a friend did the shuffle about 10 times each before we both received text stating we had been selected so within 2 weeks of starting it I and another person had a card and he was able to snag a Gigabyte 3080 with a nice 27 inch monitor for about 1,500$. Goodluck to all! I'm gonna continue to enter into the shuffle so I can help win some more of my friends a chance to buy a card. You can check picture for proof I got one. ;)
In italy we don't have New egg with shuffle

Ironically I have contacted an Italy gigabyte distributor signed on NVIDIA Page at Milan asking to make a shuffle for me CPU+ the first GPU 3080 TI coming to them and their answer was: "Yes ... but do you have a problem if we take the graphic card for a couple of days . We need to make photos AND we inform you that probably the first 3080 ti is costing 3500 euro " This happened before first news about retail prices of 3080 TI in the world

Not going to link it here because eVGA/NVidia forum afterall, but Sapphire is doing a giveaway of a RX 6900 XT Toxic AIOed card. It's literally free to enter, Gleam link, very few hoops to jump through, and they have an email verification process that should weed out the bots from being able to win. Even if you don't WANT the 6900 XT, you can always enter & sell it to someone else if you win it, then you'll have the money for a 30-series card whenever your queue spot gets called. I entered cuz I jump at the opportunity to try out a 6900 XT & see how it stacks up in non-ray-tracing stuff.

nick_shl I didn't buy discrete GPU within last 15 years or so and now, during this shortage, I need one
So, what you're saying is... Once you get a card you're going away for another 15 years? I got something new to root for now.

My local Microcenter received 12-13 of them about three weeks ago. They still have 6-7 of them, I have personally seen one person returning it to the store. Funny enough, it is even more expensive than the highest MSRP of any nvidia card (Strix OC IIRC) Edit: not to fault your logic or anything. I just wanted to share.

It's probably one of those things like Gigabyte had with Waterforce cards where they had leak issues because they were new to the space & didn't test tolerances as stringently as eVGA did with their Hybrid/HydroCoppers. Would be my first guess as to why they're being returned... or pump noise. Pump noise is something too many people are too sensitive to in my opinion, but if you get one that sounds like my Kingpin did after I installed it in the new AMD build system, yikes. lol I know Gigabyte's Waterforce AIO cards had one of the worst ratings I've ever seen on Newegg for their 10-series I think it was, 1 egg & almost all of the reviews were people saying it leaked or arrived empty because it leaked in the box on the way to them. That's a big oof.

I’m pretty sure the ones they’re selling are the air cooled ones though.
I’m old and am set in my ways so it’s almost always intel/nVidia builds for me.

Well along with those cards selling for over 5k on ebay eth is now over 4100 a coin. and pays at 15.19 cents an mh translation an evga 3080 card earns 100 x 15.19 cents = $15.19 it burns 6.5 kwatts or 2.60 at 40 cents a kwatt which means it makes 12.59 a day So in 100 days it earns back 1259 usd in a year it makes 4595 usd which means cards are going to sell at 3x to 4x retail it also means that if LHR cards lower profit by 50% to 2298 a year they will still sell at a high price I think as bad as it has been it will get worse very soon. Oh today I get an evga 3060 even with lowered hash rates it will make about 1000 usd in the next year. Yeah you can get past the hash limiter and it will make closer to 1600 back in a year. so the 400 selling price is a bargain it is why it sells for over 900 on ebay. and this all relates to the queue as it simply slows our card rollouts. To all waiting good luck

There is a word. Gross.
Hear hear.
How’s the arm/shoulder?
Arm is better. Still a little tender. My head is still feeling a bit crushed, but it's not terrible this morning. The first shot had me feeling like I needed to vomit when I was staring at screens. It's not that bad, but the base of my skull. Ugh. All for the greater good though. I almost want to go bid all those up to 15000 then back out of the transaction. It's probably beneath me though, but it doesn't always feel like it.

Ha! It would be nice to have cards blow up in their “inventory”. It’s a battle lost as long as there’s someone willing to pay their prices though.
