Very true. It might be the case of short-term pain for a better long-term situation. Hopefully.
Well if you are a gamer and own an older 3080 that mines at full speed you very likely can get a premium for it. Then use that to buy an LHR card.

I've thought it through many times. The only option that we really have is to stay positive and hope or time will come!

Thanks! I don't have much hope when it comes to the pricing of the 3080ti but I guess we will find out soon. At this stage I just want a GPU...

AMD is a joke when it comes to the quantity of gpu's they are capable of pumping out... As for the 3080ti I think 1200 is a good guess - unfortunately that would also make it an attractive bargain for miners...

WhiteWolf92 Perhaps not the best place for these types of questions but any speculations on how much will evga charge for the upcoming 3080ti?
You can get a pretty good idea by comparing the price of the most expensive 3080 with the cheapest 3090. Take the average of those and start from there. I'm thinking that since it's a "3080" that it will be closer in price to the 3080's than the 3090's. So, my guess would be $1199. The 2080ti was significantly better than a 2080, and someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think it cost $300 more. I'm hoping for more of the same with the 3080 series as far as performance goes and I see no reason why EVGA wouldn't continue to do what they have been doing. Rumors of the 3080ti being 5% better than a 3080 FTW are probably not true. For gaming alone it should be at least 15% or I won't consider buying it. I'm fairly close to getting a 3898 as it is, so if the 3080ti ends up being a scam I won't feel pressure to buy one anyway.
My original thought was about 1200 as well, but I wouldn't be surprised to see it around 1400. They will sell regardless, and AMD hasn't really flooded the market with their gpus.
I don't see it being THAT expensive. At that price, another $100 gets you a low end 3090 with 2x as much VRAM.

I fully agree... Not sure if anyone remember about how some in AMD claimed they have plenty of product at launch... Instead we saw one of the bigger paper launches in memory

I think it's peabrained to think implementing nerf'd cards is a good idea for regular joe consumers. I'm already paying a ludicrous amount for the card as it is, and now I'm told I can't mine to offset the insane prices. Idk about you guys but I work A LOT and to be told what I can or cannot do with something I pay full value for, and now have to spend even more time working to pay off, is asinine. Methinks most of the gamers with a delusion of self-entitlement that screech about how this will be a good thing don't actually work for their survival, or don't understand the value of money and are using mom's credit card. The billionaires and ultra rich will still have large scale mining operations and get around 'limiters', as they always do, always have, and always will. Meanwhile we get crapped on, and some of us say thank you for the crap. Demoralizing man

Yep that is one way of looking at it and one i can get behind. Eventually demand and supply will equalize. As been pointed out this is not just a VC issue We are seeing supply issues across many sectors

I just saw that, https://videocardz.com/ne...eum-mining-performance
If this is true - I guess it's - I think EVGA also will implement it, less miners interested = more gamers are served, this means that older cards with no LHR will be for much higher price on EBay and so, while we get what we want actually, a card for gaming.
I am also guessing if LHR is provided across all of EVGA catalogue of cards and models, them queues will be served well *fingers crossed*, don't forget that this will also impact sellers like Amazon, Newegg, TD positively.
There is nothing that EVGA can or can not implement, they don't make die. They get die from nvida and just put them on PCB and stick cooler on top of it.
Hulky87
I think that new Limiter thing is affecting all 30 series dies, so all cards in that sector are lowered hashed now, we will see.
Not the 3090
It's already an expensive card, let miners have it if they want to, yielding in it isn't the best and issues with backside memory overheating, plus 3080 Ti will be much cheaper *I hope!* and emitting less hash rate, for gamers mostly.

Some EU friends have mentioned they've gotten on lists at local retailers, but I don't know how that works at all. But maybe reach out to some local computer shops in your area?

Really trying to take a calm and zen attitude towards the whole situation. As long as my current 1080 (with slight oc) soldiers on I'll just have to wait it out.

benjavisionMethinks most of the gamers with a delusion of self-entitlement that screech about how this will be a good thing don't actually work for their survival, or don't understand the value of money and are using mom's credit card. Man, I wish. That would be awesome. Maybe she'd make me some snacks. Or let me buy some snacks with her credit card. Either ways: Free GPUs and snacks. mikev19I call total 'BS' on the fact that it's "completely random" because I've entered over 70 times and haven't been selected once, yet several people who have either recently or previously purchased high-dollar items from them were "coincidentally" selected either a few times per month and some a few times per week. That is just not statistically possible. I got picked for a Shuffle yesterday which I only mention because of the people saying the other week it was a one in a bajillion chance and not worth entering. Granted, that was after two months of entering for basically every card/bundle below the 3090/6900 tier. bsquaredracingany news on the 3060 Black, no movement basically ? Afraid so. Same fate as all the entry SKU cards in the queue.

Man these people that are spamming posts in threads that haven't been posted on in 4+ weeks just to get their post count up to 100 for Elite are getting really annoying... They're not even posting anything useful in them either. I see a thread & think "Oh I can help that person" Then I view it and see OH THEY WERE HELPED A MONTH or more AGO lol They lucky I'm not a mod, warnings would be handed out - if you're gonna spam/post pointless dribble, do it in general discussions, not threads that haven't been posted in in over a month and have NO REASON to be revived.

Really then, the 100 post thing shouldn't be an option. It promotes spam.

Well, EVGA did that to themselves as well. Regardless of whatever "forum rules" definition of spam they want to use, most people figure any pointless clutter to be spam including the "Me too!" type posts designed to just run up post counts. Shouldn't use a broad term if you want a narrow definition.

Problem with that logic, is that top models used to top like 8-900 bucks max for flagship, aka the xx80ti, then 2080ti hit shelves starting at 1200 and now we got the "real" flagship, aka 3090, "starting" at 1500 minimum, and going for over 2K those who could afford a 800 buck card for the best gaming performance will now need to swallow the horse sized pill of over 2 stacks, well over double pre-20 series flagship pricing

I build a lot of two card rigs for people that mine/game and or game/mine. The past 3 months with zero cards available kills my sales of rigs. But when I could get cards back in Dec and Jan my sales were really good. I sold a lot of 2x 3060ti rigs and or 3070 rigs . Every one of them gamed and mined at night. Every one that sold still works and every person that purchased one ended up with a free rig. So yeah if I can get cards at a decent markup and build rigs I want mining cards and not LHR cards. I smell a disaster coming up here. Not so much for Evga more so for Nvidia. If they are caught providing fixed LHR cards that mine bigly they will get sued. Possibly by the companies like Asus+MSI As they use both amd and nvidia I think it going to go from bad to worse with the nvidia moe.

Well I haven't been on here for a while because I finally scored a Asus 3070 TUF with Newegg shuffle. I had to bite the bullet and pay way over MSRP and also pay for a motherboard that I did not have any use for but at least I got a great card out of it. I really feel for you guys who are gonna wait this out.. My advice get on Newegg and subscribe to the shuffle so you get an alert every day to get a chance to buy a combo with a card. It might not be exactly what you want but at least you can get it NOW. I and a friend did the shuffle about 10 times each before we both received text stating we had been selected so within 2 weeks of starting it I and another person had a card and he was able to snag a Gigabyte 3080 with a nice 27 inch monitor for about 1,500$. Goodluck to all! I'm gonna continue to enter into the shuffle so I can help win some more of my friends a chance to buy a card. You can check picture for proof I got one. ;)

benjavision I think it's peabrained to think implementing nerf'd cards is a good idea for regular joe consumers. Demoralizing man
I work hard for my money, as well, and fully understand the value of it (I'm finally to the point where I'm about to quit my second job, after over three years of having it). I live alone and have to work to pay my mortgage, keep up with child support, and keep my other bills paid. You know what? I personally think this is a great thing. I have zero interest in mining and would love to see crypto crash and burn. If you have to mine to offset the cost of your card, it sounds like you're living above your means and should look at cheaper models.
The problem with that logic is that the price of everything has gone up and you have to adjust accordingly. In 2005, I was looking at picking up a brand new F-250 pickup. The base model started at $25,000. Instead, I picked up a fully loaded Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with both the hard and soft top options for $32,000. Now price out a base model F-250 today, or a fully loaded Wrangler. I've been driving the same Nissan Versa for years now because the cost of new vehicles is insane to me and I'm not interested. I'll keep my car until the wheels literally fall off and then find a good deal on something used.

Dabadger84 Man these people that are spamming posts in threads that haven't been posted on in 4+ weeks just to get their post count up to 100 for Elite are getting really annoying...
Yup I thought the same thing when I saw news that EVGA was going to offer a 24 hour exclusive to buy the new cards coming out. I knew it would only be a matter of time before a lot of people started signing up just to post to get that 100 and maybe even make multiple accts. This is only gonna make it that much harder to get one of these cards. I'm sure you got scalpers jumping on this plus miners who are gonna be trying to grab some up. I would like to know how many Elite member there was a few months ago compared to now and the coming days. if you don't get in within mins of the Elite opening you will prob be waiting months like everyone else to get one of these cards. A lot of people will try to get one and then sell whatever 3080 or other card they have just to get the next best thing. This was definitely not well thought out!

People are funny like that. You'll hear I am broke or can't afford that. Then those same people will hop back on their IPhone 12 pro Maxx 512gb with unlimited data..
Why would you want to mine with a card to help subsidize the high cost of the card that was partially inflated because if mining lmao. wouldn't you prefer for mining to be removed from the equation entirely?
Possibly by the companies like Asus+MSI As they use both amd and nvidia I think it going to go from bad to worse with the nvidia moe.
if you really think nvidia is doing this from their heart to " save the gamers " then you really need to get your head checked. This is just another money grab from nvidia. Think about it a mining card mines ****tier and cost more than a current gaming card of equivalent price value. After a miner is done with the 'gaming' card he can sell it on the used market to someone, hence a buyer needing to upgrade can upgrade for cheaper buying a used card. A mining specific card after its done goes in the garbage as it has no resale value. This is Nvidia trying to remove the secondary market, also forces the people who want to upgrade to have to buy new. Nvidia only cares about its bottom dollar.

enewtWhich launch are you talking about? The launch on September 17, September 24, the launches in October, November, December, February? You didn't know about any of them? I didn't need card at this time. enewtNot sure that is EVGA's fault. Did I said " fault" at all? Did I even mean it? No. enewtOh, and name a better system for a 30 series? Best Buy? Newegg's shuffle bundles? eBay? There no " silver bullet" to solve this problem, there no best system - each one has pros and cons. And this pros and cons may be different for different people. enewtMy mistake is that I set my target on one sku -- that's my mistake. What was yours? No mistake at all. I got my RTX 3060 via queue, now I waiting in Step Up queue for RTX 3060 Ti( just because it looks cool), but probably will get RTX 4060 Ti because 30 series will be discontinued even EVGATech_Christian says "this is highly unlikely" And honestly... I don't need GPU at all. I built PC just because Santa Claus gave my kid Razer bundle on Christmas, because he always stop by such things( peripherals with RGB) in shop( probably YouTube influence). And I did not spend a lot on this PC - mostly it built with components that my friends gave to me. I used GTX 750 in this build and it perfectly fine for Mincraft and CS:Go. Why I need 30 series at all? Probably to play Cyberpunk 2077 at some point. And yes - you can blame me for shortage. I didn't buy discrete GPU within last 15 years or so and now, during this shortage, I need one

moomeacowThis is Nvidia trying to remove the secondary market, also forces the people who want to upgrade to have to buy new. Nvidia only cares about its bottom dollar. I don't doubt that Nvidia cares primarily for Nvidia but there'll still be a secondary GPU market from gamers upgrading their old cards just as there has always been. Miners dumping cards is a relatively recent thing but gamers dumping their cards when a new generation comes out has been going on for ages. Witness all the people who dumped their 2000 series cards when the 3000 series was coming out (and then regretted it but, hey, point still stands).
