YaroKasear My 3090 arrived today. I'm not off the queue yet as my new power supply is not here. What's the worst that happens if I use my current PSU? My machine shuts off? Or would my card possibly be damaged?
Is your current PSU a 750, 850, 1000W...? How old is it? I would not risk my GPU unless I had confidence in the PSU. Also, when your new PSU does arrive you have to switch out the power cables too -- don't mix and match from one PSU to another PSU when it comes to the cables. Best of luck!

If you've clicked the auto-notify buttons on all of the skus that you would consider buying, then you've done what you need to do. Unfortunately, given that you are just signing up now, you have a good amount of time to wait. The queues move slowly but -- save for a few of the Gaming queues that haven't materially moved -- they do progress. Best of luck in your hunt!

FlamingUber I wouldn't be surprised if the emails being sent out are from stock available from before the holidays and they are holding off on sending more out until they figure out/set new pricing.
I don't 100% disagree with this, I do think something is at play for these low quantity drops. Jacob said even though EVGA's offices were closed during 12/24 through 1/4, the cards themselves were still in being made during that time. The lack of hybrids and other cards make me weary. At the same time, EVGA and Jacob hasn't done me wrong at all and they're probably the only manufacturer actually legitimately helping their customers get cards so they deserve the benefit of the doubt from this thought.

That's a tough call. If you had a 3080, I might consider it. But with a 3090, I'd wait. How long until your new PSU arrives?

Sunday according to Amazon, unfortunately. I get to stare at my 3090 box for three whole days before I get to play with it.

Since the 750w you have is platinum, I'd give it a go. Typically if the unit can't supply enough power, it will just shut the system down. All the horror stories you see about power supplies frying and taking out a whole system are generally bad supplies. IE, it's not because someone overloaded it, just because the components fried. Now with that said, if the system does run fine with the 750w, then it's putting a heavy load on the PS at the top of it's design rating, so it would probably affect the life of the PS. That of course doesn't really matter if you have another PS coming 3 days later.

Fortunately I have several hours to decide since I'm working right now.

Preference to the FTW 3080 because it's more affordable, but I'm so impatient I know I couldn't wait if the TI popped first.

Well, the newer skus seem to have gone better with people at the front not having to wait months for the email, in fact it has been a bit of a hot topic of late. But we have no idea how much stock EVGA has acumulated, but we do know those queues will fill up VERY fast. I dread about the day the Hybrids go live on the EU store...

Depends on how early you are on the queue for the 3080ti... If you get on the notify list with in the first minute or two, most definitely the 3080ti

Great point, the price for the Ti may be a little too much, I too would think twice if the price goes much higher than 1000 euro, the regular 3080 is much nicer for my budget and perfomance differences are not that higher.

Gotcha. Also just trying to understand how the Notification system is setup. From what I'm reading in threads, based on how much stock EVGA is putting out, your waiting period will varies then you are put into a queue (after waiting period) for the product notification?

Do what? I think you're making it too complicated. You sign up for the "notify me" email, which is a queue. When you get the email, you have 8 hours to buy the card. The amount of time you wait for said email depends on your place in the queue.

PSU will most probably trip and shutdown the system. You could heavily undervolt to archive some stability. Thats is what I did. I managed to underclock my ULTRA FTW3 to 875mV to archive 1750Mhz (similar to founder's). No crashes anymore. I played a bit of Control with everything on and long gaming with World of Warships (load between 480 to 620Watts from the wall, no more spikes that caused my PSU to trip) *edit* your 750 platinum is from seasonic?

Each sku has it's own queue. You sign up for whatever ones you want by clicking to be notified. Each queue stands on completely it's own. There is nothing wrong with signing up for multiple queues. Many people (myself included) have signed up in multiple queues because we're willing to take whatever we can get first so whatever queue is the first one that I get through is the one I get and then after I have the card in hand I will remove myself from the other queues to free up those slots.

Here's an even more interesting question: Will I get the 3080 FTW3 Ultra first or Will I get the 3080TI first with a hopefully early notify or Will this thread get to page 1000 These are the important questions we need to answer.

jbaysingar A hypothetical query just for fun... Which notification do people think I'd most likely get first? Rumored 3080 TI queued on day one if/when it becomes available or 3080 FTW3 Ultra queued on 11/29
Depends on how early you are on the queue for the 3080ti... If you get on the notify list with in the first minute or two, most definitely the 3080ti
Exactly, however getting in is the problem. For example I (like many others) was ready to jump in when they opened up the last 3898 hybrid queue in December. Even though I was right there trying to get in I was one of many and I was unable to get a signup through until 9:09 because the website was unresponsive for me until then due to the overload of folks trying to sign up. So a 3080 hybrid card is pretty "obscure" by comparison to the overwhelming crush that will be 3080ti. So not saying that you couldn't manage to get in during the first minute or so of 3080ti signup but just because you're there ready to go clicking away doesn't mean it's going to happen.

YaroKasear Sunday according to Amazon, unfortunately. I get to stare at my 3090 box for three whole days before I get to play with it.
For three days, I would wait. EVGA's RMA system is industry-leading, but I'd rather not experience it....
