zaphrodbox I was wrong above when I questioned whether NVMe would work on both M.2 slots as others pointed out, sorry about that. Also found according to page 19-20 of the manual both M.2 drives will function at NVMe speeds; however, the first M.2 will not work with SATA speeds, whereas the second will work with both NVMe or SATA.
From the manual for the PM2 This connector can utilize only PCIe/NVMe-based M.2 SSDs, SATA M.2, or Intel® Optane™ NVMe devices.
Complete COPY PASTE from the X299 Dark manual and it is WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! COMON EVGA PROOFREAD your CRAP!! Before I totally put my foot in my mouth (probably too late) I have to back up here for a moment I just found this in the X299 section in a thread for an EVGA X299 Micro 2 - https://forums.evga.com/FindPost/2897298I will quote that post: EVGATech_RayH For that motherboard, the M.2 Key-M does not support any SATA data transfer (X299 in general has very limited support for this). Platforms like Z390/370 may have Key-Ms with support for either PCIe or SATA M.2, but not for this board. If the adapter you are referring to uses PCIe lanes to generate ports via a SATA controller on the adapter, then it would likely work. But I do not see the point of adding a SATA controller to a board that already has one. It sounds like a way to make a non-bootable drive with additional drive latency.
Which means someone is going to have to be the guinea pig and try an M.2 sata in the PM2 slot

This is what I hate about Z390 and similar chipsets.
You only get 16 CPU lanes (usually all 16 are used by a graphics card) so you have to use the chipset lanes which then get bottlenecked by the DMI 3.0 link to the CPU.
Plus you can’t even utilize all the M.2 slots, SATA ports and the U.2 port at the same time.

To be fair even on the 44 lane CPU's you still cannot use all the M.2 ports and U.2 ports, let alone all the sata ports at the same time

Seeing that the Z390 Dark is readily available on the US store page (I guess not that many people had the patience to wait until now) how about offering some of those boards on the EU store page, you know before people here give up as well?

That's what I thought. It would be nice to see a CDM score from someone who has two of the same NVMe drives plugged in to see the actual difference in speeds. I don't have two identical NVMe drives to test or else I would post results. They are probably close enough not to notice a difference really but I'm still curious.

A review of the board on [wccftech.com] of the Z390 Dark states: "Only two DDR4 DIMM slots populate the board, but each can support 32GB for a total of 64GB of memory. And yes, the EVGA Z390 Dark is future proof enough to support Intel’s 9th Gen CPUs." But the spec sheet on the site here says: "Memory Type -DDR4 4600MHz, Memory Capacity -32GB" So does each slot support 32 or only 16 GB of memory? For a total board memory capacity of 32 or 64 GB?

well. supported means tested and passed. so answer is 16 gb X2 for a total of 32. The manual says 32 gb max is currently supported.

Can someone from evga tell me if i buy this from the US if i can still get the same warranty if i tried to claim through the EU evga? Just noticing with the import fees etc works out to be the same as it will cost for the UK so i might as well just buy it now.

I've been reading and consensus is that 1.4 is max voltage for kaby lake. including the 9900K. for benching purposes. I think it may be necessary for a 5.3 overclock on my CPU. anyone have an opinion? edit. think I have my answer. 5.3 ghz needed at least 1.41 volts to achieve a cpu test without a freeze. Had to terminate the test due to temps approaching 85C on water. So I think 1.4 plus will be needed for 5.3 unless you have a golden chip. just gets really hot on water at that point.

Peaks of 85c is fine, once u start hitting the 90s is where i draw the line
1.41 could be fine if thats dmm peak voltage, but if thats what u had to set I would maybe reconsider.
