Delirious anyone know the frequency of the VRM on the dark board? Might be an engineer question.
I would keep an eye on both Gamers Nexus and Buildzoid's channels on YouTube for an PCB breakdown. I am sure it is bound to show up there at some point
I poked around the bios a little more this evening. It's defaulted to 500 khz. Has adjustments from 300-1000. I will have to admit, I don't know much about this other than it can help with voltage spike. But have no idea in what way.
Screen shot? I didn't know they were able to give an option to mess with it - thought it was hard locked Would like to see a screen shot of that section - I have not seen anything like it in the X299 Dark bios

We could sure use a Bios/Overclocking guide for the Dark. < hint hint EVGA> Only reason I have not begun to work on an OC for mine yet is I don't quite have my arms wrapped around it yet.

While digging around for EU release news, yup still nada, I came across this link : , guess that is where you will be able to find OC info. Still bare bones atm though. EDIT: sigh... no 9 posts yet so can't put the link. I wonder if that is how they are telling me to post more, a lot MOAR! Anyway I think I have seen Delirious posting in one of the threads there. So I guess he would be fine putting in the sub forum for OC link.. or you could look for it... sry

No problem thanks, I found this link to a video that may be of help to me - will be checking it out tomorrow. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95Ujni7-fVM I just want to make sure I have a good feel for what I am doing when I start the process. I had my 4820k overclocked to 4.5 GHz on the X79 board prior to this and it was solid for over 5 years at that. This platform is certainly somewhat different and new to me. Even at stock settings this new rig is spanking the previous one nicely.

I didn't find anything that tricky with OC'ing the Dark. Kept it simple, stayed to the basics, ended up getting great results. The only thing that was a little confusing at first was understanding how the different Vdroop settings work. Did a little trial and error to see what kept me closest to my vcore override and that was it. The stress testing tool is great for showing what your vcore will adjust to on load when testing the different vdroop settings.

Ok thanks! So mainly I want to of course set a fixed multi for the cores, adjust vcore and vdroop. Should AVX be set to 0? And what about LLC? I will say my gaming performance in VR is quite good already, but would not mind having a little better also.

I have 4 doubts !!!! 1_ I wonder if the Z390 Dark is compatible with any 1151 cooler? 2_ Why does this board have only 2 DDR Ram memory slots? 3_ Are you having any problems with the Z390 Dark? 4_ Are these slots next to the pci only for NVMe PCIe M.2? Thank you

1. my 1155 EK supreme worked on this board and I verified it with EK months ago. if you are asking if the 1151 will fit 1151 coolers? the holes will line up. Some water cooling blocks are adjustable for for different architecture. Personally, this board is design for higher overclocks. if you want 5 ghz or better, maybe look at water cooling. Hope I understand your question right. 2. 2 slots reduce draw on the memory controller and you get higher overclocks vs. 4 dimms. It's an overclocking board, primarily 3. I am having no issues right now 4. yes. Only NVME PCIe M.2.

I do not intend to overclock it, but I would not like to use water cooling. I want to use an air cooler. But which CPU Closed Loop Cooler would you recommend? Thank you

you don't need this board if you don't overclock. as for cooling itself noctua NH D15 or any corsair 360mm aio.

I mean I will not overdo the overclocking, but I want a sturdy motherboard that will not give me a headache, because I already lost 2 Mobo Asus. Thanks for your attention

get the corsair. I couldn't recommend air (would be like putting a spoiler on a cadillac). Once you have a water loop, you won't want to go back. Corsair has made it easy. So easy, I have two office PCs on their closed loops. Quiet and efficient. Get the biggest radiator your case can afford. with the corsair, I'd suspect you can get 5.0...maybe 5.1 You need a good waterloop for 5.2 and I have a great waterloop but for 5.3, it's puts me over 80C at full load. I personally just don't want to go that high. I bought the board for a stable 5.1 daily.

Agree, running a Corsair H150i Pro in this new build and am pleased with it so far. However I had plenty of room in this case for it. (360mm rad). On my previous X79 build with 4820k cpu, I ran a Corsair H100i for over 5 years and it performed splendidly.

Curious to know how far that cooling takes you. and btw, if you need overclocking help. Make a post of your own and I'll try with others to get you going. There's not an EVGA overclocking guide, but I think one is in the works. ASUS has one and may work. But it's not that hard.

Welp so from what I've heard, evga will not be restocking the dark on their own website nor their ebay & will be selling the remainder of their stock on amazon.com or b&h which is only a good thing for the US market so still no luck for us Europeans. On amazon they state the dark to be shipped anywhere from March to April which is quite ridiculous. Don't know why evga doesn't want to say anything about this but whatever; i think at this point i'll end up selling my 9900k and grabbing the ryzen 2 cpus since its already late into intels 9th gen cpus and would only have probably less than 3 months of owning the highest end tech.

@pimpx Where did you get that info from? You make it sound like they are not making any new boards? Seriously, isn't it about time someone who knows what is going on to reply?

pimpx Finally a buildzoid video on the dark. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6vtSwFEUVs
Wished he would of talked about the VRM. He's doing a live overclocking session tomorrow, sunday at 1pm EST "VRM analysis coming separately! Note that we are planning an overclocking livestream for Sunday at 1PM EST. Follow us on twitter (@GamersNexus) to get updates on the stream date and time. Link to the EVGA Z390 DARK in the description above. Did he post that live OC session? I expect his end conclusion to basically say... "This board is really good"
