ssdsckkw512g8x1 - Intel® SSD 545s Series512GB, M.2 80mm SATA 6Gb/s, 3D2, TLC
EVGA X299 Micro 2 121-SX-E296-KR

Is the ssd compatible?
I am getting "NO NVME Device Found" while checking NVME drive in the bios.
Windows usb installer doesn't recognize it, niter does Disk Manager.

NAND Technology or SATA is not the same as NVMe Technology
You need a Intel SSD 600p Series M.2 NVMe to work.

Thank you sir, I figured something as such this isn't the first time it's happened.
Is it possible to get this one working, maybe a PCIe adapter installation?

You cannot adapt a SATA M.2 to be a PCIe M.2. It is possible to get an adapter that allows a SATA M.2 to be powered by a PSU SATA power connector and connect to a 6Gbps SATA plug.

Aren't there adapters that use an PCIe slot that work with the M.2 SATA drives where the SATA controller is on the adapter?

But it wouldn't be bootable

For that motherboard, the M.2 Key-M does not support any SATA data transfer (X299 in general has very limited support for this). Platforms like Z390/370 may have Key-Ms with support for either PCIe or SATA M.2, but not for this board.
If the adapter you are referring to uses PCIe lanes to generate ports via a SATA controller on the adapter, then it would likely work. But I do not see the point of adding a SATA controller to a board that already has one. It sounds like a way to make a non-bootable drive with additional drive latency.

The part of the the confusion for this matter is if someone gets the manual PDF from you guys for the X299 Dark on page 20 ( I think, on my phone and can't double check) it says that SATA is supported on PM2 which is incorrect. If someone is trying to be diligent and research before buying stuff going off of what is said in the manual they are miss informed.

Can someone from EVGA PLEASE review the PDF and make an correction

The product team was made aware of the change to the DARK earlier this week
The Micro 2, subject of the thread, indicates that it only supports M.2 PCIe NVME SSDs, so I do not see confusion.

Can't a firmware patch support it or does the Intel x299 chip set cause this problem?

I don't care to use LGA1151.Maybe in 2019 Intel will release new chipsets, I personally would think 2066 would be more capable. Which is why I purchased it, O well I'll just have to get a Intel Optane AIC PCIE.

before I do get somthing like an Intel optane 900P, do you all know if will it have issues on the x299?

None that I have heard about any issues on the Intel optane 900P Drives.
