I am interested in the dark version.  what memory speed, brand of ddr4 would go good with this board?    I'm not much of a high end overclocker anymore since the speeds are just so fast now.  I'm looking for a balance between speed and price and I am looking to upgrade my motherboard soon.   thanks.

Unfortunately EVGA hasn't listed the memory QVL sheet even for the FTW board - if the FTW's details were up we'd have a better guess at what has been tested with the DARK.
 
It's a safe bet that anything around DDR4-3200 should work without a hitch - it's only when you get into the 3866+ area that you have to worry about quirks.  You're not going to have a ton of luck finding 2x16 kits (which is advisable since the board's only got two DIMM slots) higher than ~3200-3400 without spending more than a small fortune.

I'd guess 4133 Mhz is the slowest memory that would almost certainly work. Also, I would be surprised if there is any kit on the market that wouldn't work. The Dark is designed for OC Memory, so it would be total fail if the fastest Memory didn't work with the 9900K

I think that would be closer too the upper end considering in the realm of DDR4 3200-3400 kits are the main stream and anything over 4000 are the upper end and are considered by some as being more marketing hype then an reliable piece. Go watch some Buildzoid videos on the subject

Thanks for the info, am gathering parts for a new build based on the Z390 Dark and the Ram is next on my list, am thinking 32 GB of PC-3200 DDR4 might be best.
Have had Corsair Dominator Platinum for several years, will likely stick with them.

I'm curious if the "actual" release date of the 9900k is having anything to do with it. Sounds like it isn't really available yet so perhaps that is influencing the Dark's general availability.

Still not available in EU, when will we get it? A week, a month? EVGA have fans in Europe also, please let us know.

history of EVGA boards is........we wait.   waited a month for my last board after they announced it.  so, I'm planning on focusing my mind on something else.

It's not readily available (aka I haven't seen it in stock)....but I've seen Z390 boards in stock...just not the eVGA boards...*shrug*
 
I'm actually considering building a 9900k ..and giving my 8086k to a friend whose machine died...and he lost his job...can't replace it (it was an old X58 ..so the 8086k would be a
pretty nice upgrade for him)
 
 

If I had lost my job, I would appreciate the cash instead of a pc at the amount of money your looking to spend.

I agree, except he does a lot of job searching online...His wife works to pay the bills in the interim...

I think I'm going to go with a "9750K" in my system - and before you ask, that'll be a 9900K with hyperthreading disabled.  Maybe by the time there'll actually be something around that'll need those extra eight threads, I'll be in the mood to set up a custom loop.  For now, the extra 4MB of L3 cache is worth the extra money to me, and a 9900K with HT disabled should theoretically be cooler and clock as well as a 9700K.
 
But it definitely seems to be the extra threads that are adding about 50W+.

Que the outrage that HT is the best thing since sliced bread and that disabling it is a crime against humanity.

OH NOES,, I have committed a crime, I have HT off on my 7940x

If the DARK is more than $349, I'm probably looking elsewhere.  $349's a good price point that allows for me to justify the extended warranty without issue.  That being said, I don't have to worry about the Noctua fitting anymore - I just bought an H115i PRO with that expiring-soon eBay coupon from Newegg's store.  Only saved $4 from buying direct from Corsair, but hey, ~every little bit helps~.

Well I am ready for the Dark whenever.
Matter of fact, I have just about decided on the EVGA DG87 to house this new MB in. 
 
EVGA - c'mon let's get moving on the Dark! Better yet offer an introductory combo deal with the DG 87!

I don't mind waiting for it, but what would be great is if we could get the board's dimensions and the manual so folks planning new builds, or just upgrading, have additional documentation and specs that could support planning the build/upgrade.

I believe the Dark motherboard dimensions (LxW) are the same as the X299 Dark. 

Are you guys going to make an mATX form factor of this?  
 
I've fallen in love with your mATX boards.   They make nice, clean builds with plenty of headroom in the right case to mount pumps, reservoirs and the like.
 

Satisfied owner & early-adopter of evga's SR-2 dual xeon, 1x GTX480su, and 2x GTX780. Looking to upgrade to an i9-9900k+RTX2080ti. Big fan of EVGA products & customer support! First time using the forums though.

I like doing my own board repair, occasional mods, and of course; voiding the warranty as soon as possible. So I was wondering if there was any chance boardviews / schematics would be released for the Z390 dark? +1 for the nice caps & probe points. Definitely looking forward to these new boards! Exciting!
 
p.s. I really wish the dark had the reinforced dims of the FTW...
