I’ll just wait once I return the Asus board. I don’t want to build my loop twice.

Honestly, I don’t need the the Dark over the ftw except for the fact that the Dark has two x4 PCIe M.2 NVMe slots as far as I can tell from the pictures while the ftw has only one and a sata m.2 slot. Really, I just like the look of the board for my build. All the other boards in the price range of the Maximus hero are ugly/gaudy as all get out. The Taichi has that ridiculous gear theme, the msi meg ace is ok except for that dragon and the aorus master is gaudy AF. I’ll pay a bit more for an overkill board that fits my build aesthetically even though I’m not an extreme overclocker.

Am I being irrational? I probably am.

haha! I'm in the exact same boat. I'm not going to do LN2 cooling or any extreme OCing with the Z390 Dark but I like the 90 degree connectors and the socket being rotated. I've also found buying an over-engineered board pays off in the long run. My X58 Classified ran my i7 970 at 4.2ghz for a long long time. I'm hoping the Dark can keep my 9900k running around 5.2-5.3ghz for the years to come. Also, like you said, the Dark is the best looking board on the market.

If the FTW looked better and had 90 degree connectors I'd probably just stick with it.

Do you mean 2 sticks of 32GB = 64GB or 2 x 16GB = 32GB?

Irrational probably... Me too... :-D

For so many reason this board looks great... Initial plan was a simple mITX (I bought a Stinger H370) which was already overkill but in the end ATX will be much better... :-D

No your not being irrational and Yeah EVGA does know how to design a motherboard... I myself is looking to upgrade to this because of the number of vrm and second aesthetic.

Yes there is,

Head over here:

then scroll down and click the "spec" tab. It should tell you how much vrm it has under "Feature". Currently it has 11 VRM and you have the option via EVGA step up program to upgrade to Z390 Dark when it come out. The Dark got a vrm of 17.

No there isn't!

Asus claims that they have an 8 phase VRM and that's not really the truth is it? Saying that the FTW has 11 VRM does not inform us of anything like the quality of the components, efficiency, etc. As far as we know, in overclock.net, the Z370 FTW was not considered as being a top tier mobo at VRM level. Maybe EVGA is considering itself a niche brand when is comes to motherboards. Otherwise if they want to sell more they've got a great opportunity to better disclose and inform potential costumers about the products.

I'm considering this board but without knowing if changing it for my XI Hero represents a upgrade i won't make any move.

Yeah, I think the one unfortunate thing about that spec is that when the Dark was first advertised it said 4133, so EVGA might be taking extra time, that'll be good for performance, but bad for release date.

I bought my  i9 9900k from less popular site and got it 5 days after its released for $500+5shipping no tax. The place I got it from is Provantage. They seem suspicious at first but after doing some research I found out they are legit through reviewers and decided to give it a shot.

Huh. I just strategically planned to walk into Micro Center on Friday at around 5:30 pm and I found the chip there. The previous Saturday I’d gone in and I’d heard one of the sales reps say they had gotten a shipment on Friday but they were gone before he’d gotten to work the next that day. Anyway, when I got there, I saw the blue engram on the shelf and immediately asked if I could get one of those. I got one of two or three they’d received within the last two hours. I know because I’d checked the website before leaving my house and the the website said it was out of stock. Yes, I drove 2.5 hours to Chicago, which is where the nearest Micro Center is. I was going to Chicago that night anyway for something else, so it was all rather fortuitous, I must say. Only thing is that now I have to go all the way back for the sole purpose of returning the Asus board which I bought with my 9900k. Third time in three weeks. Super annoying.

I pre-ordered around noon on Oct 8th. I received my chip Nov 5th. Hopefully that can serve as an indicator. I'd say you should have yours in the next couple weeks at the most.

Well that is a pearl of an answer! Of course EVGA is not Asus or any other motherboard manufacture! If they were, probably would be interested in actually getting more costumers, and sell more. I don't know if you are conscious but even Supermicro motherboards are being reviewed. And all that potential costumers have in the European site is an "available soon" that is there from the first day the new boards were announced. There's Asus marketing level and than there's EVGA marketing level which is non-existent and is just as absurd as Asus one.

When is this board getting release!!!!!?????? I am checking every damn day to see if it's available. Would be nice to have a date!!

I am with you there, doing the same. Also still waiting on my i9 9900k I have had on pre-order with Amazon.

When did you pre-order?

Oct 10th.

I pre-ordered around noon on Oct 8th. I received my chip Nov 5th. Hopefully that can serve as an indicator. I'd say you should have yours in the next couple weeks at the most.

Hope so that would be nice, it is ok though as I am still waiting on the Z390 Dark as well.

Same here. I ended up ordering a Z390 FTW so my 9900k doesn't sit on this shelf any longer. I plan to step-up to the Dark.

I tip my hat to ya, don't think I could go through two motherboard installs close together like that.
But then I sure ain't as young as I used to be.

After the Maximus fiasco i'm with ideas of selling my XI Hero and try the Z390 FTW but there's almost no info regarding vrm's of this board.

Yes there is,

Head over here:
https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=123-CS-E397-KR

then scroll down and click the "spec" tab. It should tell you how much vrm it has under "Feature". Currently it has 11 VRM and you have the option via EVGA step up program to upgrade to Z390 Dark when it come out. The Dark got a vrm of 17.

Are you sure step up to the Dark is available? I remember reading somewhere in this thread that step up to the Dark wasn't an option.

I spoke with different evga staff and they all told me that I should have no issue stepping up to the z390 Dark.

The Z390 Dark will not be available for Step-Up at launch.  Step-Up for boards like this are based on availability.  In the future? Possibly, but no guarantees that this will be available via Step-Up.

EVGA is not Asus. EVGA is reputable company that does not have to invest so much in marketing to promote their product. We, the customer speak for them through our positive experience. Second, I thought you were only asking for the number of vrms so my mistake on that part, if you wanna go in dept then I suggest calling EVGA tech support, very easy to talk to and will help you in every way. If your really concern about the quality of the board and willing to wait then I suggest you go for the Dark. It's their highest EVGA Z390 motherboard.

Of course they are interested in getting more sales and customer but unlike Asus and other brand, EVGA care more about quality than quantity. The reason why Asus is more popular and more in demand is because of their marketing campaign. They sponsor a lot of event and even pro players just to get attention. Sure Asus or supermicro motherboard are available from day one and look how that turned out to be? Your obviously new here and doesnt know much about EVGA.
