So another month or so of waiting. Only part I am waiting on for this new build.
I just hope I can get in the first batch of orders...

Maybe that's the EU launch. Just trying to be optimistic.

If that is general release than at least there's finally a more concrete date as opposed to just mid late December.

Well, thanks to an eBay promo code (PHLDAYTEN - 10%, max $100 off) that expires in a few hours, I just took a chance on an Aorus Xtreme.  Buying through Newegg directly was a non-starter because they pretty clearly list on their product page that motherboards are no-refunds/exchange-only, whereas through their eBay store you've got a 30 day money-back guarantee.  Also, it's the beginning of a new billing cycle for my Visa, so it lines up perfectly.

The way I see it, I just bought a month's worth of insurance for $500.  I'm not too thrilled that the last BIOS update for the Xtreme was 9/11/18, and that it's the "initial release," at that.

And in the most recent episode of "Luumi Shares More of the Z390 DARK than EVGA Has Since The Initial Press Release," we've this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zfW7Kw8hq7w

Watch most of it with your sound muted unless you have a thing for hearing a half-chorus of the "Thong Song" repeated ad nauseam for more than 10 minutes.

Can only hope! Hopefully the fact that EVGA is letting him post these scores is sign that we're getting close unless they're letting him just to build up hype. Think of it though, he ran various tests in that video and the board performed extremely well in each one. That alone is a sign that we're close.

So, once they get the bios nailed down they would have to get it to the manufacturer to they can get it loaded before they package the units for shipping - then they have to get too the the shipping center then sent out too the customer. I would think it would take a few weeks just to get them too the US (or where the shipping centers are).

There's a screen in the video that shows the BIOS at v0.82.  I'd imagine the board won't see retail until they're comfortable with calling a BIOS "1.0."

That's with the assumption that the bios isn't nailed down yet. For all we know the process you call out above could now be underway. Scarlet's post about them finishing things up was a week ago now, a lot can happen in that time if they're working on it daily. Fingers crossed.

I got one ordered a few hours ago when they were in stock, I'm very excited to build something new, to replace my current system that I built in 2011.

Certainly looks like the auto notify didn't work. Now the FTW is out of stock.
Got peeved... Bought an Asus Formula.

Might regret it but it doesn't seem like EVGA wants to be in the game.

Hopefully, the laughable number of ftw boards available this time is an indication that production of the Dark is the priority at present, such that all of us who’ve waited can get one at launch. Not holding my breath though.

The Dark is all I am waiting on, seeing what is going on with the FTW certainly has me concerned. I just hope I am around my computer when it drops. I have spent a bunch of money on parts laying around here just waiting.

That's by design. It's an overclocking board. 2 slots better supports overclocking. Can always get a 32gig kit of 2x16gigs if you actually need that much.

What'd be nicer is a clue as to what the MSRP will be.  If this board has a $699-799 MSRP because it's the best, I think it'd make up a lot of our minds.  If it were $399-499 (which is where I think we're all *hoping* it'll be, with the potential for $599 since that's the absolute peak of Z390 board cost at the moment), I think they'd have said as much by now.  The absolute peak I could see for this board, assuming it has the best VRM solution on any Z390, is $549.  $549, because it doesn't have an Aquantia 5G or 10G LAN, or as many quality-of-life features as some of the other flagship boards.  Those 5G/10G LAN chips are second only to PLX chips in cost to the boardmaker, and though I know we've got hobby overclockers in here, we also all want a board that'll be a good (and stable) 'daily driver' as well.

Because if it's a $699-799 board, that's *before* the EAR plan and Extended Warranty that you'd probably want to get on this.  That means +$60-110 on top of the as-yet-unknown MSRP for add-ons.  I think we all could have lived without the Creative audio chip that's likely adding $20 to the board cost in lieu of a more standard ALC1220 (since I'd imagine most of us will just use USB DACs anyway).

So here's a question for the gurus - if you don't have an MSRP decided on yet, how about you tell us what it *won't* cost?  Because I think you've got buyers at a max of $499 (I would be), and less at $549, but any higher, and congrats on all the sales to the Top 1% hobbyist overclockers who aren't paying for their own gear anyway.

How about you look at the past to see what boards cost when released.   I doubt the price will be so high as to discourage people from owning.  It's basically the same amount of stuff as any other board as far as materials go.   So what would be better, have a board where a few can afford or have a board where many can afford?

Having said that.  Unless it gets released and shipped soon, santa will have to deliver mine to my roof if it's released next week.

A wise man once said that we can't make anyone feel or do anything. We can throw things into the wind, but it's up to each person to decide how they want to react, where they want to stand when things fall.
