I tried asking Jacob if there was any MSRP info yesterday (having waited a week), and no new information was offered or given. Only other time the DARK was even mentioned was "late December/early January." I haven't actually *built* anything with my Aorus Xtreme, and I won't until I'm given no other choice.

I think it will become available in 2019. All boards that aren't out yet, are postponed to 2019. I think I will be getting the Godlike. Next week. Or ACE. I really don't want the gigabyte. *sigh.* The choices. Asus extreme and apex isn't available until 2019 for where I live. Ordering from US gets me to the 2019 again. Decisions decisions... Godlike or ACE.

I think they are waiting to cancel the board for the PCIe 4.0 and 5.0 to come and then roll the board again.

Now customers no other choice if want high end motherboards properly done than to wait EVGA Dark or Maximus Apex. Code, Hero and Formula have 4 + 2 phases and customers are angry because of that. That's bottom to charge high end motherboards with 4 phases over 400$. I would not use less than 10 or more, 10 is right number, 8 finish job properly, 10 is for satisfaction of customers. It's important to have dual RGB, 12V and 5V RGB. Every year early adopters suffer because some bad decision, every year.

Why is it important to have rgb headers? Frankly I love how the dark isn't having a ton of extra features that don't support and contribute towards performance. Less to go wrong and could potentially lower the price

I'm fine with certain headers just to improve connectivity. RGB headers, temperature headers, flow meter headers, etc are nice to have in builds that feature those options, especially on a board that will be featured in a lot of high end water cooled builds. That's what I have loved so much about the Maximus Apex line. Everything is geared for maximum performance first and foremost, yet you sacrifice nothing to get it. It has dedicated headers to power water pump, water temp in, water temp out headers in addition to two other temp headers, a water flow header, etc. I love it because it allows me to control my 12V (non-PWM) radiator fans based on the water temperature with an $18 Phanteks PWM hub using fan settings in the bios. I don't need any fancy fan controllers or additional software. Performance is number one for me, for sure. I normally only look at boards that have top notch VRMs and memory trace layouts, usually only 1 dimm per channel. However, I do also appreciate the features that don't add much cost to a board but add a lot of functionality such as the connectors mentioned above, multiple bios, clear CMOS button on I/O panel, USB bios flash, etc. I tend to prefer to stay away from 3rd party controllers like ASMedia USB ports or SATA ports, Killer LAN, 3rd party wifi/bluetooth, etc. Intel chipset provides enough for me so I'd rather not have to pay for a bunch of extra controllers and install a bunch of extra drivers to make everything work properly. I guess there's my random rant on preferred motherboard features for the day.

I wanna wait for this board but i know for a fact its gonna be so limited that i wont end up being able to get one. This motherboard will be super hard if not probably not available where i am from the UK which is sad because it just seems like usa will get most of the stock to sell. There's not even a uk evga web store to buy products and re sellers never had evga motherboards. Also i guess these will come out a week after ces or even evga are waiting for asus to release their apex vice versa to see whos better before they quickly improve it to make theirs the best overclocking motherboard. I want to know price of this board also, considering the x299 dark pretty much wasnt available in the uk and if it was the price was severely marked up to like £600+. Also is this board gonna come out with the test bench like the x299 dark? that would be pretty nice & i'd like one.

You know how to make money in a market with only two competing products? Be first to market. Honestly, if EVGA and Asus were actually competing make the “best” enthusiast OC board rather than to simply make money, it would be a breath of fresh air. I can see EVGA taking pride in their products as I know they do, but Asus obviously just cares about making money with inferior ones. That’s what they have shown us this product cycle anyway. The idea that these companies are simply trying to outwait each other seems pretty unlikely to me.

I so wish they would allow us to pre-order the Z390 Dark board. Here I have all the expensive parts laying around for my new build, and just waiting. If I could pre-order and even pay for it today just to insure I would get one after release I would be pleased. I did that with the 2080 Ti FTW3 Ultra and was quite happy to do so. My big fear is I will miss the initial orders (say they sell out quick), and it turn into even several weeks after that before I can get one. Just look how long the FTW has been out of stock since it's initial release. Anyway just wishing, in the meantime am trying to keep a close eye out on it - but here soon we will be traveling for the Christmas Holiday.

I feel your pain. I've elected to divert my attention to something else. I'm also cleaning up my hard drive and sorting and deleting old stuff in prep of a clean install and transfer over to a new drive. one of them nice fancy fast m.2 drives. good thing Christmas is coming. I'll have other things to play with.

Hey, maybe Luumi will give us more information about this board for Christmas, since EVGA still seems completely uninclined to do so. But hey, it's not "late December" ~quite~ yet - so we can't be told that it's now going to be "mid to late January." -_- We need EVGA posts and presence in this thread - our sole source of information for this product shouldn't have to be querying/pestering staff during the Friday livestreams and overclocking videos on YouTube.

Has anyone else noticed that the x299 motherboards are all ridiculously discounted and have been for ages? The x299 Dark was $350 for several months and now it is $250. I have a sneaking suspicion that EVGA is trying to get rid of current x299 boards only to replace them with “refined” ones for the Basin Falls refresh. For example, Asus just revamped their Prime board, according to pcper. I’m starting to suspect that the engineers and manufacturing are splitting their time between the z390 platform and the Basin Falls refresh. It’s just a thought that I’m not touting as hard fact. I just think it seems reasonable given the the timing and circumstantial evidence. I think I saw Vince say that the z390 Dark would release at CES. If this is true, maybe they just want to show the revamped x299 boards with it. Who knows? Like I said, it’s just a thought.

I doubt it. Only reason why some manufactures are refreshing their boards is because they wasn't good enough in the first place to handle the higher core count cpu's. The evga x299 dark was over engineered in comparison and had better vrms and cooling than the rest of the boards.

ASUS Failed with Z390 ROG Motherboards. I would not recommend any board except Maximus Extreme and Apex. Apex is not available yet and Maximus not worth price they asked. Only motherboards where could fit at least 20-30 Intel Core and Intel Xeon processors with huge number of cores could cost 500$. I believe customers in UK will have chance to buy EVGA Z390 Dark.

I think anyone who buys a godlike loses just for the sheer fact they have such a pretentious named board as “godlike” But seriously lets be frank, anyone who is buying a 4 memslot board because they cant wait for this to be released isnt the target audience of this board. I mean this is for benchmarks, no company will make waterblocks for it. Sure it can be used as a daily but make no mistake this is in the league of asrock z170m ocf, gigabyte soc ln2, and asus impact/apex boards... they sacrificed capacity for performance Sorry if im kinda on a tangent but seeing all these complaints about “only 2 dimm”, when thats literally the reason you buy the board just drives me nuts. This is an extreme OC board. Not an enthusiast board And buildzoid knows more than enough to be dangerous. you guys splitting hairs over a few vrm will never get close to utilizing, need to take a break
