i would like to know few details regarding upgrade program I leave in Croatia, which will be part of EU in 3 days (July 1). Before we have entered EU i had to order all my parts to my friends address in Germany since shipping for Croatia was to high (100€) (was told that cost was that high due to not being part of EU and a lot of orders have returned) and there was strict customs regulations. my question is: will shipping cost change with July 1? if so, what is the procedure? can i apply for promotion before July 1? thank you

Dear Bipe, I am sorry as I cannot confirm if shipping prices will change as this is reliant on the courier, but it is recommended to submit your request for the upgrade promotion if you are interested and later if you should decide you can choose to cancel it. I emailed Jacob about it, but anyhow. I never registered my board for some odd reason and have long since lost the invoice. Any chance that you guys can help me out here? My x79 SLI is frustrating to use, and I would gladly spend the $200 to just get something that works.

EVGATech_ChrisB Dear TheSidewinder, I can confirm that you may participate in this promotion, but if the board is found to have physical damage causing this problem then you will be contacted once received. Thank you, Chris, but one question please. I know that the board is not "physically" damaged, as in broken connectors or the like, but instead suspect it was an "electronic" failure of one of the components. That doesn't qualify as "physical damage", correct?

Thank you, Chris, but one question please. I know that the board is not "physically" damaged, as in broken connectors or the like, but instead suspect it was an "electronic" failure of one of the components. Generally, physical damage will mean problems like bent cpu pins, water damage, scratches that expose the PCB, etc. Otherwise, typical failures of products won't be considered "physical damage," per se.

Another stupid question. I paid to upgrade my warranty to five years on my FTW and I believe that also included a prepaid RMA shipment upon an approved Credit card. Will the Warranty transfer or will I have to re-buy an extended one again? Will this also include that advanced RMA option so that I can have a glitched but working computer until I get the Dark? I have done those over the years! I LOVE advanced RMAs and I am hoping this is can be treated that way! Besides EVGA has done this for me 3 times already. Needless to say I eagerly await my further instructions so I can be in the official queue for one! This was a GREAT present to come home to from work too!

Hi KimbaWLion, Thank you for your question. I can confirm that any unused EAR plans or Extended Warranties from the previous X79 will be transfered to the Upgraded X79 Dark item just like in our step-up program. I am very sorry as the EAR plan or Standard Cross Shipment RMA option is unable to be used with the X79 Dark Upgrade as we do need to receive the original product first prior to upgrading it to the new X79 Dark Motherboard. Why in gods green earth do you need our x79 motherboards in your hands first? You would put most of us out of a PC for a week or 2. Allow us to cross ship like usual. Charge our credit cards if you have to until you get our motherboards and the process is completed. I don't want to be out of a PC for 2 weeks or more. Treat this upgrade like an RMA process. Most of us customers are upgrading to the Dark because we feel like we are RMAing our motherboards. What is also great about cross shipping is that it allows us customers to use the same shipping material that EVGA sends the replacement motherboard in.

This should really be like an Advanced RMA, since the mobos we have never worked 100% in the first place. You can charge my CC all you want, but I need my PC up and running.

Step-ups have always required the original product be shipped in first, prior to the new product being sent back. Likewise, the great 680i to 780i migration upgrade was handled the same way. Step-ups only require you to send in your product when there is a board/card waiting for you, so that the new board/card is ready to go back as soon as EVGA has received and inspected what you've sent in. The upgrade program, as well as the Step-up program, are completely optional.

Call it an upgrade/stepup all you want. Us customers are also calling it an RMA. I think EVGA should really consider allowing crosshipping as an option without us customers having to cry and demand it over the phone to a tier 2 rma rep. I'm speaking as a customer who has never used the stepup feature and has never sent in an RMA evga product without using the crosshipping luxury.

Funny.. I recall somewhere back in this thread Jacob said the recommended retail price would definitely be under $400. True to his word, it is under $400. It's $399. LMAO. ..btw, I am not intending to criticize Jacob or EVGA at all, this is the price I expected for a top of the line x79 board.. just thought it was amusing.

Sometimes it can be hard to identify the final price before going to production, so that was the initial target pricing.

The last really thick Layer PCB I had was my dual Opteron set up from Tyan. It was an AMAZING Motherboard for its time and I got a good 4-5 years out of it before I decided to finally upgrade. It finally became too much to be stuck with AGP... A 14 Layer thick PCB should have remarkable thermal properties, I should not have to upgrade to Haswell for AT LEAST the next year or more. Won't really be a need for it, plus it will take that long before all the kinks are worked out. This is going to be really painful NOT having a real computer around for a week or 2 but we'll see. Nobody knows where they are in the queue. I am sure I am there with a LOT of others. Not having an advanced RMA going to be a NON fun experience to put it mildly...
