That would be the biggest FAIL ever.
The board is coming out more or less for that CPU and includes 4 3.0 USB

The Haswell-E link was from ILikeBeans, not me.

You infer from the the translation that the x79 chipset only supports USB2.0, therefore no x79 motherboard can have USB3.0. This is clearly not true. Even if the x79 chipset doesn't support USB3.0, that doesn't mean motherboard manufacturers can't add USB3.0 support.. lol   ..either that, or my current x79 board is magic.

Basically motherboard makers add the USB 3.0 controller to enable USB 3.0 compatibility. I am no expert so not sure how that 'mates' with the CPU.. probably through the SouthBridge.

Here's some good basic info on PC architecture.. interesting stuff. [link]

It's probably going to be the same. Currently X79 uses PCIe 1x to enable enough bandwidth to use USB 3.0 IDK if there will be any revisions for X79 and the new CPU and new MOBOs (doubt it). It's probably going to take X99 for "native" support. Intel's own boards do this.

You appear on the forums of a motherboard vendor to ask a question that many would say comes off as trolling. You source one and only once source for your question for which a simple search could provide an answer for.
If anything you could've have simply asked yourself why would EVGA not have USB 3.0 compatibility on the X79 Dark when their entire Z87, X79, Z77, and Z68 line of motherboards have it?

Haswell-E early 2014 x99 Chipset will natively support USB3.0
Until then, IVY-E (due Sept) and any associated X79 Boards will require a 3rd Party USB 3.0 Controller, such as Asmedia, marvell etc......
IVY-E will fully support PCI-E 3.0 and higher Memory speeds ;)

Wholly crap.....you guys still waiting on the Dark? .....you'll get about 8 months of use then be getting an X99 board ;)

EVGA normally releases products on Thursday it seems like so they could do it this week but I doubt it.

The ONLY reason I am waiting on the Dark is so I can send back this paperweight they called the X79 Classified.   I am anxious to see what type of assistance they will provide to those of us with the early X79 EVGA debacle.  I am a bit frustrated that after all this time, they still have not announce just WHAT they plan on doing.

Just a guess here but, they usually add new items to the Available Products listing (Above) a few weeks before the product is available for sale.   The X87 series has been up for weeks (and is still not available) and there is not even a listing for X79 Dark yet.  Looks like we still have a few weeks to go, if they are sticking with their usual pattern.

Yeah, but it's not just x79. All new boards are being advertised with no prices.
There are some decent Asus boards where RMA is not an issue.
So why not.

Continued silence from EVGA isn't a sign of quality.

It doesn't inspire confidence

That is not normal and I think the only reason they did that was so people would quit asking. The z87 should be on sale but they are waiting on final production of some part.

Well, since i'm far from being an expert, i'm here for some kind of answers or tips. You said " even if the x79 chipset doesn't support USB3.0, that doesn't mean motherboad manufactuers can't add USB3.0 support.. lol "

anybody can explain that?

You want people to believe that you can build a PC with questions like the ones your asking? Come on, man!

lol look at you

i'm set, but since i read this article, a doubt has appeared regarding the USB 3.0 comptability

Thanks for your help Blackviperthing

You appear on the forums of a motherboard vendor to ask a question that many would say comes off as trolling. You source one and only once source for your question for which a simple search could provide an answer for.
If anything you could've have simply asked yourself why would EVGA not have USB 3.0 compatibility on the X79 Dark when their entire Z87, X79, Z77, and Z68 line of motherboards have it?

It's was a good question. X79 doesn't natively support USB 3.0 it must use PCIe bandwidth unlike Zxx boards that due support it. That is the one biggest problem with the X79 now, but it's the same for all X79 MOBOs.

I'm betting now we see the Dark in late July.

I've got my finger on the trigger for a RIVE. I'm starting to think the Dark will never see the light of day and I'm lost my patients.

I'm really hoping the Dark will impress, but if it doesn't materialize pretty soon, I'm going with the RIVE as well.  I'll be wanting to see specs & price in the next couple weeks or I might just have to go the other way...
