I wonder if it will release with Ivy-E support. Like maybe had the intention of releasing in April but when more word about Ivy-E was released moved the intention of releasing at that time. Another theory includes the X79 Dark being the biggest troll in the world.

Do us all a favor and rewrite the bios for the x79 classified as well.

.... come to think of it, whats to keep a couple good bios guys from dissecting this monstrosity and slamming in a bunch of code from bios that work? it would be so dope if someone could modify the RIVE bios to work on the x79 classified

Because it is not just BIOS issues. Some of it is Hardware issues as well, that a BIOS change can't fix.

i read posts on here and after receiving a DOA z77ftw i will never buy another evga motherboard. seems this is the way alot of people feel. when tech support told me to return my z77 to newegg because it was DOA i have up at that point. before that i had a p67 which actually worked. i quit while i was ahead.

i have plans very shortly to go x79. i am interested to see how evga handles the mess they got into with there boards upon this release.

Wasn't it supposed to release this month? If it is not out July 1st then I'm just going to wait for the next platform, probably keep going with Asus or maybe try Asrock. Getting sick and tired of evga's motherboard department.

I would wholly recommend Asrock, aside from the short warranty, their rma support and support via the phone to setup an rma blew EVGA out of the water compared to the last couple times I dealt with EVGA.

If Asrock would extend their warranty to 3 years, or at least offer to sell an extended warranty up to 5 years I would not hesitate to buy nothing but their equipment. I have been building lots of pcs latley with asrock equipment and all of them have been top notch.

Not to start a flame war but I really wish people would stop complaining in this thread, It is so hard to pull any useful information in this thread about the DARK.

I fear when the product launches its thread will be riddled with complaints that doesn't even pertain to the product at hand.

main reason is also so many people got burned by evga with the last run of x79 boards they do not want to see that happen to more people. not that they are complaining, alot are still looking for evga to fix there mistake in the first place. plus with all this being posted it lets evga see what the real world users saw with the last run of boards to possibly fix any issues they might see in this run.

Actually, if you look at the signature you will see that it will say "RIP".

I got a x79 Classified sitting in the box from RMA along with a 3930k, All I need is memory and I have a full system again. I am also sorta waiting to see about the upgrade path EVGA has for us.

Intel has this 'habit' of changing sockets every 2-3 years so if they keep to this schedule then next year there will be a new socket high end motherboard.

I'm one of them. The only problems I have are the USB 3.0 issues that everyone seems to experiencing; however, I believe this is entirely to blame of ASMEDIA: the manufacturer of the USB 3.0 hub. I haven't had any memory issues that others seem to be having. The only other issue I've had is the 047 BIOS issue with a 50% CPU usage; for now I'm using 045 til they fix that.

Would be nice to see that publically admitted, but as you said it is beating a dead horse.

I just avoid the USB3 ports altogether, using only the 2 USB2 ports. The issues I've had are:

Can't boot using UEFI GOP (I can live with this one using the legacy ROM).

Fan locks at 100% when booting a UEFI OS (again, I can deal with it by installing in legacy mode).

XMP voltages are wrong (auto selects 1.65V; RAM is 1.5V per the profile). VSA voltage changes as well; all voltages should remain within spec when "Auto" is selected. For now, I just left the RAM at 1333, because I don't trust the BIOS not to change a voltage and barbecue my IMC.

Occasionally cold boots to a blinking cursor instead of loading the OS. A reset fixes it, but it's annoying.

It's not like I'm trying to set records or push the envelope with this PC. I just want it to work reliably.

I've had none of these problems. To be honest, other then USB 3.0 issues I am wondering if this is either a QA problem or if there was untold fixes between the KR version and K2 version of the FTW board. I have the K2 (newer) version.

This thread sorta hints toward that: h**://www.evga.com/FORUMS/tm.aspx?m=1790703&mpage=1&print=true

Jacob tweeted late yesterday that the X79 Dark is close, and enclosed a pic of the BIOS screen.   Guess those that predicted that the BIOS was the hold up were correct.

Interesting but not unexpected.  If this BIOS isn't 100% perfect, there will be a BIG problem and EVGA knows that.  It would be the proverbial nail in the coffin for their main-boards.  Hopefully we won't be let down .........again.

We are also still awaiting news of what type of program will be in place for current EVGA X79 users.  I really hope they communicate their plan soon.
