Funny how I see via google search "EVGA x79 launch!" Not one real review. Just the same rehashed info a.k.a. nothing. Ill be filing my court papers within the next two weeks for an attempt to get my money back. Ashame I have to take off work for this. I simply can't wait forever.

Umm so you are going to spend $50 to file then a day off works which at average salary will be $240. Plus it will probably be several months before you can get a court date. Makes a lot of sense

Makes more sense than to RMA for another faulty MB. Makes more sense than waiting another few months with a non-working PC ( if the Dark still hasn't come out).

awalleyeguy CAxVIPER zerocool101 This shouldn't be considered a step-up in the first place.....it should be...here's a 100% working mobo....now please return the crap mobo you bought in the first place that was never designed correctly :) I disagree. For people that paid the $400 for the classified originally it should be a free mobo. For people that only paid the $250-$300 for the FTW or SLI they should have to pay the difference. It is only fair Hmm my FTW was $400, the Classified was originally $450. So Evga should be giving the Classified owners that paid $450 money back. I also paid $400 for my currently boxed up FTW. The cost to upgrade is $200 for a total cost of $600 in order to have a motherboard that functions as advertised. This is assuming the bugs present in the existing x79 boards are resolved with the Dark board.

But yes EVGA should give people that bought the classified at $450 a credit for $50. Since they have EVGA Bucks this would work fine. EVGA would get their $50 that way

News on the X79 Dark- Date Sent 11 mins. ago From EVGA_JacobF To WUHS09 "WUHS09 Hello Jacob, I have been waiting for the X79 DARK for sometime now and have the money set aside for the upgrade program that has been set up since the beginning of this month and would like to finally get that going but each day that goes by, there is no word on when it will happen on the forums. It is the end of the month and you said it would be Mid July, well that has come and past, so curious when it will be. I am going to be moving out of my parents soon for college and would for this to be done before then or before mid August really when college starts. That is when I may not have the money anymore for this board to get upgraded. So is there a date for this yet or no? "
For X79 Dark, yes the original date did slip unfortunately, but I can say now that the boards have already shipped and are on the way to our warehouse now (via boat) so this takes a few weeks. Right now the best estimate I have is first week of August. They are being shipped finally to the warehouse so it should be soon!! :)

Oh man come on and get this thing rolling! Let's go already! I have college too next month and I really NEED a functional board. If all else fails, I'll take my i3 and P55 Micro with me, and leave my X79 Classified at home boxed up ready to ship out. Ordering my TJ07 this week. Dark really can not come soon enough.

As for waiting for 2014 for the new Haswell. That is all well and good BUT I want something working 100% now... I can always wait another 6 months till June of 2014 to get another build. I will have no problem moving my old gear when the time comes. If your system works 100%, your lucky and can wait. That is NOT an option I have at the moment. PLUS you know there will be bugs with the X99, JUST that nature of the beast. HOPEFULLY minor in nature but in June of 2014 it should be good to go... We'll see, I just want something working 100% yesterday...

People may as well get the dark now and just stick with it until 2015, especially the people with hexacore processors. My guess is 90% of the people with the 3930/60/70 don't even need it and just bought it for bragging rights.

I strongly suggest anyone who has one of EVGA's initial X79 MB's go for the step up option. It is NOT what we rightly deserve but it is the best option in recouping as much as possible. By now your X79 MB is worth nothing if sold and your chances of receiving a WORKING replacement via RMA are at best slim to none. I also suggest you demand that EVGA foot the cost of shipping for step up, they pay both collection and delivery of your old and new MB. We already have to pay extra for the step up (which should be free anyway) , we shouldn't have to pay for shipping as well. At least with step up you have the chance of getting a working board and if you choose to sell it, you should get close to full retail price. I will be selling mine as soon as I receive it, I may get the jump on retailers here in Australia meaning I could get a premium for it. That is presuming retailers here in Australia choose to stock it, which I wouldn't be surprised if many opted not to considering EVGA's initial line of X79 boards. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Given that, I would still say to those wanting to move to X79, do NOT buy the X79 DARK. If it turns out to be a lemon like the other EVGA X79 boards, you will be up crap creek without a paddle. That doesn't mean I am hoping the DARK is a flop, I truly hope it isn't, especially for those who choose to buy the boards I and others are selling.

As long as EVGA emails me with the return instructions by the 1st week of August I will ship my X79 SLI overnight and they ship my new X79 Dark within one week I will stay with them. It to would be nice to Pre Ship my X79 SLI and be on a standby list or let us pre-order one and be on standby list and then get a rebate for the upgrade of our old X79's. When they are in and I get the email notice they will sale out and then have to wait even longer and I have been waiting almost 6 months now. It was also an issue with the 900D. Bill

That doesn't mean I am hoping the DARK is a flop, I truly hope it isn't, especially for those who choose to buy the boards I and others are selling. Every day, I type something out, sit here, read it again and delete it for one reason or another. I don't think EVGA gets it. I genuinely don't think, they have the capability to understand how their customers actually feel, anymore. I think they're numb, they've become generic. If this was Ford, or GM, we'd have a class action lawsuit and we'd already have brand new cars, however, this is EVGA and instead of making the situation right and offering us a working product, they charge us a step-up ONTOP of the retail we already paid, to get something that was their responsibility to get right in the first place. At first, I was fine with the step-up fee but, then my employees actually had a meeting with me about it -- They were more outraged as EVGA enthusiasts, then I was. They felt robbed of an experience that was promised to them by the box...By the advertisements...By the marketing...To them, the $400 retail was a lot of money. There was the promise of an amazing experience within the box, an enthusiast experience that only a few companies have been able to provide, it's why they paid a premium in the first place...Then, they were denied that experience by the very people that promised it. Now, EVGA asks them for more money to fix a product that has never actually worked, in the first place. I agree with them. We paid retail for this product. It has never worked. Period, done, end of discussion, it hasn't. For that fact alone, I feel cheated. I feel even more cheated because I, as an owner, cheated my customers out of a positive experience. I feel cheated because EVGA admitted hardware failure and yet, continued to sell a product. I feel cheated because EVGA wiped the Newegg reviews in hopes that it could sell out a product AFTER admitting it was a failure. I feel cheated because I've RMA'd this product at least 10 times, paying for ARMA's...For product that was never going to work as advertised in the first place. Most of all, I feel cheated because EVGA lied to us all. I know how many RMA's some of you have done, I've been here since day 1, minute 1. Where's that compensation? Where's there even an apology? They, as a company, haven't even come forward to their customers and apologized for the situation. Instead, they label it as an "upgrade program"...I'm sorry, that doesn't cut it for me. After typing this, I'm moving on, 100% from EVGA...GPU's and all. I've thoroughly talked myself out of using another of their products until they make us, as a customer base, whole. Whoever gets a Dark, I wish you luck...May you not have the same problems, we did.

masked, I completely agree, I was just stating my thoughts given what is available. Not at all saying what EVGA has offered is fair. Actually, if I was in your circumstance, I wouldn't think twice about taking legal action. Most of us here purchased our board for personal use so doing that is out of the question as the cost involved would hardly be worth it. I can't imagine how much you have lost and the hit your business has taken, I only hope your customers haven't lost faith in you as a result.

I'm going to skip the X99 Haswell E and wait for Skylake. Going from 6 to 8 cores is going to be a waste of money. I'll hold out until we see 12-14 core CPUs. By that time DDR4 should be a lot less cheap or even replaced by DDR5

Thought I was done with this thread after being modded, but masked I'm 100% with you at this point. I don't even care about EVGA making it right anymore. The time has passed for apologies (which was never given out) and the time has passed for replacing their problem board. You've lost my business and faith, I don't care about your amazing GPU customer service or outstanding warranties. The amount of frustration I have faced as your customer dealing with a broken and expensive product has sullied our entire history. You may not care about me as a customer, but surely you will miss the yearly purchases that my company made as a result of my loyalty to your brand. The 100+ workstations that currently carry your z68 boards and GTX 650 cards will not be up for upgrades using your brand in the near future.

I agree with you guys. I was late to the X79 game, and I didn't pay for mine. I RMA'd an X58 4 Way SLI and got a brand new X79 Classified back. So while I don't have the same frustration as some of you guys, I can definitely agree with how you feel. I'm doing the Dark upgrade because I just need a working board for school. I admit, I am still quite irritated that I have to pay $150 now to get a functional board however, and the Dark is likely going to be my last EVGA board as well.

@Halo the worst part is that with the x79 we had the great x58 series and the functional z68 series to make us feel good and allow us to place trust in EVGA. However after the x79 and subsequent abandonment of their customer...I just don't know how anyone could feel safe trusting EVGA again. Hell what happens if you pay the $150 (which owners should not have to pay) and the Dark ends up being just as bad? At best EVGA will refund you $150 and ship back your x79 which also didn't work. At worst you're stuck paying $150 (+shipping) for "nicer" looking paper weight.
