No, calling someone a troll, when clearly that is what they are doing is not a personal
attack, it is a statement of their actions.
Do you guys condone trolling?

If I understood properly, you consider a troll if somebody don't share the same opinion you have ?

I for one am excited for the X79 Dark step up, I need the extra SATA ports!  The board looks pretty sweet too and the new BIOS should be fun to mess around with.  Hoping I can squeeze a little better overclock out of my 3930k on the Dark!

There have been no issues with my X79 SLI other than having to have a new BIOS chip sent to me upon initial install and my Logitech G510 keyboard initially not working in BIOS but that was fixed ages ago.  Overall I have been happy with it, every bit as stable as my previous EVGA X58 boards.  This is not to take away from anyone else's experience, I know there have been many who have had a long road and many problems with this series of motherboards.  I hope the X79 Dark gives you what you are looking for!

As always the fantastic combination of resources that is the EVGA forum community/ EVGA Tech support has made my experience a pleasant one.  With that said I would like to give a little back who have helped me.  Hope this isn't against the rules MOD's but I have 2 extra copies of Torchlight 2 from the Steam sale, first 2 X79 owners to PM me their Steam ID can have them!

Wow nice post, Nice to read something positive for once. I'm in the same boat as you man. I'm running the same board and had the same issue when I purchased it back in April of 2012. The RMA was super fast since I live only a few cities away from EVGA.
The only issue I've had is the USB 3.0 once in a blue moon will not power on at boot. I just have to reboot and I'm good. It's been a very long time since this has happen. I'm really glad I didn't go with the FTW or ClassF boards. I know I'd be stuck in the same boat of a nightmare as the rest of those users. I'm hoping with the Dark I can achieve the same clock speeds with lower Vcore. I really need the PCIE x16 spacing and the extra sata3 ports. I'm running out of drive space and the Titans need some space to breath.

@ Nereus - Thanks!  Been lurking this thread for a while, just that I would share my experience / opinion!  Always nice to shine a little sunlight!

@Viper Black Edition - No problem, I can do that when I get back to Florida.  I am in New York this week, will take screen shots and PM them to you when I get back.  Posting them in this thread would probably be too of topic and get me in trouble!  My only over clock issue I feel was having to push my voltages to high for my liking, my 3930k came out of the box at 1.19 and I think I had to crank it to 1.37 to get stable at either 4.4ghz or 4.5ghz.  Hottest core with a H100 with (2) ea. GT AP-15's doesn't get hotter than 75C when folding though so it has been OK, just feel like I could do better!  Then again a 3930k at stock speeds absolutely tears through anything (especially heavily threaded applications) so I am splitting hairs here and should be thankful for what I have!

@dustingg - Glad to hear you had the same experience as me.  Good to hear another X79 SLI owner is happy.  I haven't had any USB 3.0 issues, I have a Seagate Backup Plus USB 3.0 external hard drive and a few Patriot Supersonic XT USB drives and haven't had any issues.  A while ago I did  install the USB 3.0 drivers that were in a forum thread instead of the ones on EVGA's website so I don't know if that has something to do with my lack of issues.  That was so long ago I am sure that EVGA has the correct ones posted now.

I guess offering 2 free $5 games in the forum with $600 processors and $400 motherboards is a little out of place!  lol.  If I don't hear something from another member by the end of today I will probably unload them in the evga Folding section like I usually do.

It's called x79 Dark because that's exactly what we are...in the dark.

yes you're right .
half a month ago , when I sold my p8z77-ws for a better 4way-sli performance , I wanna a x79-dark

I'm in China and I want to support EVGA because the vga-card of this brand is so good
but why they launch a mb so late and so difficult ?

competitor did the same thing in 2011 , and they did well , I hate Asus and bought a MSI's x-power II bigbang finally
I'm very disappointed to EVGA , you miss the opportunity

I had an x79 classified and I lost the receipt. They would not help me out in any way.

to show my appriciation, I have traded my evga gtx 660, and my gtx 650ti for a radeon 6950 and an intel dx79to motherboard. I also sold my watercooled gtx 680 superclocked, and all 4 of my WORLD RECORD holding gtx 480s all evga.I sold my Z77 ftw. As soon as I can find a buyer I will sell my X79 Classified for super cheap.
I have ordered 2 powercolor hd-7990s

Supplying a receipt is a standard requirement for almost all distributors / retailers in this situation. Because you couldn't, you've apparently reacted in what appears to be a somewhat extreme fashion, selling all that top quality EVGA gear (the same gear that enabled you to get a world record), and replaced it with non-EVGA components, which probably cost you a lot more money in the process. Sorry, but I think you may regret your actions once you calm down.. either that or you'll blame EVGA for 'making' you sell all that gear...

I don't understand one thing though; you've clearly been a very satisfied EVGA user for quite a long time, so why oh why did you not upload your receipt when you registered your x79 motherboard, just like you most likely would have done with all your other EVGA gear previously? ..unless you purchased the board used from e-bay or somewhere else, in which case the term "caveat emptor" applies, and EVGA is not the one you should be blaming for that.

Whatever the case, good luck with your new components, and sorry you're so quick to abandon EVGA, when you clearly have found EVGA to be second to none for years.

Re:EVGA X79 Dark 2013/07/20 19:19:13 (permalink)
It was acctually a cool headed calculated decision. I dont blame EVGA for making me sell any gear, thats ridiculous.
Under normal circumstances, Their decision to absolutly require a receipt is reasonable. However the X79 debacle is not a normal circumstance. As with all my other EVGA gear I have purchased it in good faith knowing Evga's Past quality. The product did not deliver that quality, and until the X79 Dark tradeup program was announced, I had no hope for requital. I decided to base my loyalty on my past quality experiences with EVGA, I put the board on the shelf and continued to use Evga products. Evga had "earned" my loyalty. No company deserves customer loyalty for nothing. It is not a GIFT from evga to allow me to purchase their products. I had done my part to uphold EVGA by choosing to use their products in my Over clocking escapades. The fact that I hold Quad SLI world records is a testament to that loyalty.
Fast forward, Evga announces X79 Dark "Upgrade" solution to X79 Debacle. Evga DOES NOT OWE ME ANYTHING for using their products. That being said, Evga has a decision to make about customer loyalty, and the problems their product has. When you release a product, and then later accept that that product has known verifiable issues, and admit that to your customers, you have an obligation to your customers to right the issue regardless of how they acquired the product. Would you want YOUR name on anything out there YOU knew was faulty?
Evga made a decision to uphold a policy in light of their FAULTY product which they openly admit has problems, and turn away a LOYAL customer from returning a bad product with EVGA'S name on it in return for a fully functional product with EVGA'S name on it.

First its a slap in the face to anyone who owns an X79 motherboard, to require money on top of a faulty product in return for one that works. Its a slap in the face I had no choice to take in order to rectify the problem. Its a punch in the face to tell a customer "I will not Help you with my Bad product if you cant prove how you acquired my BAD product"

I made a decision that I can no longer uphold a company who is willing to allow customers to continue to purchase products that are bad. Instead of recalling the boards like intel did with the B2 revision motherboards, Evga decided that the bottom line is now far more important than their customers and continue to sell the board regardless. That value set to me is unacceptable. Evga's quality is heavily tarnished by that decision.

About 30-45 days ago, 3930k CPUs were readily available (NIB) for about $350-$400.  I was going to pick on up when the Dark came out and build a rig.  I guess all the people sold their Retail Edge chips and the price shot back up to ~$475 now.  I guess I will wait until the 4930Ks come out and get one, or a discounted 3930k.  All of this is assuming the Dark is as good as claimed.

I'd say that is a very good idea, who knows, EVGA may just have a working X99 MB by then.
I really hope the X79 DARK actually works well but feel it is just too late now, it needed to be released 6-9 months ago.
Anyone looking to upgrade to X79 now would be better off buying another companies low to mid range MB
to tide them over and wait for X99 to go all out.

I still think it is smart to upgrade their existing evga x79 mobo to the dark.   I just better get the cross shipping service as well.

It is not going to happen. If EVGA was going to change the step up program they would have done it already.

I disagree. For people that paid the $400 for the classified originally it should be a free mobo. For people that only paid the $250-$300 for the FTW or SLI they should have to pay the difference. It is only fair

It might pay to wait, maybe it won't. I know this IF I go to an X99 I will need all new memory IF I read right and to be honest I am always slightly behind the times when it comes to cpu upgrades... IF this works great I'll be able to sell it for what I can along with the matching CPU. I can then move to the X99 sometime next summer after all the bugs are out...

Yes Haswell E will go DDR 4 so you will need new RAM.

Not only that all the older 2011 socket CPUs will not work on the new 2011 socket.

ALSO, a year after that Skylake will be dumping socket 2011 for something new.

I picked up a P55 Micro and an i3 550 to hold me over since there's no cross shipping.

I really need word on this like ASAP though, college is coming up(August 10) and it is gonna be quite hard to ship/build systems there during ROTC and an engineering major.

One thing that worries me is that when the Dark launches there won't be enough supply to meet demand, and many will be waiting yet another month or three until more Dark x79's are produced. Meanwhile some asshats with multiple accounts etc will score multiple boards from various sources and sell them at a markup.. grr.

I would like one sooner rather than later, but clearly those stuck with the earlier EVGA x79 models should get first priority. We shall see..

I can't imagine there is much of any pent up demand for this mobo, if it ever shows.

It would seem to me that most just want a mobo they can sell and hopefully recoup some money from a very bad experience.

Also can't imagine anyone wanting to buy multiple copies of this mobo, why would you do that?

This shouldn't be considered a step-up in the first place.....it should be...here's a 100% working mobo....now please return the crap mobo you bought in the first place that was never designed correctly :)

I disagree. For people that paid the $400 for the classified originally it should be a free mobo. For people that only paid the $250-$300 for the FTW or SLI they should have to pay the difference. It is only fair

Hmm my FTW was $400, the Classified was originally $450.
So Evga should be giving the Classified owners that paid $450 money back.

ALL I want at this point is a 100% working Mobo... IF another $200 works PLUS any money I spend on a CPU does that, I am okay with that, NOTICE I did NOT say happy...
As I said, I am SURE by next summer, with the X99 out OR even if I wait for Skylake, I will be able to sell this for a little bit of money NOT everybody has to keep up with the Jones and to be honest it will MOST likely go to my brother who has my FTW3 X58 who is QUITE happy at the moment!   He will get QUITE the deal from me on all this stuff and be happy again!   ( as long as it works 100% that is... )

15 minutes when booting up to find a USB port that would actually let my keyboard get power....

Gettin' real tired of this man.

Replace money with X79 Dark, and 24 hours with 6 months...
