Please elaborate. I was under the impression that the only difference was added cpu compatibility.

When I update my bios to 83 from a much older version, will all the updates from 82 and other versions be included?  I haven't touched the bios since I got my E760 over a year ago.  Sorry I'm a noob when it comes to BIOS info.  Thx!

I'm actually having issues with this BIOS and setting PCI-E 1x and network controllers to enabled.  if i leave them on auto everything boots normal if i set them to enabled the verifying DMI pool takes a bit longer.  No idea why.  DMI data should not change unless a new device is detected.  So continous boots with the same hardware shouldnt cause this.  Oh well im thinking of ditching my x58 for a z68 setup or x79 anyway.

Been running the 82 on my 760 rock steady. Updated to 83 and been getting random reboots for no reason. No bsod's or reason. Just boom reboot. Most settings are on auto except for ram which is set to 1.65 . Any way to reflash to 82?

For the download of 82 just copy the link location for 83 and substitute the 83 for 82 in link location.

ok reflashed to 82 and it seems to have cleared up the problem. Very strange that a bios was the cause. Followed the instructions to the letter and have not had any problems except with this one. Also when using the memory profile since flashing to 83, it now causes my computer to reboot on the post even with the reflash to 82. Change back to standard and all is ok. BTW dimm voltage is set to 1.65 and it worked before. Says memory at 1995 and it's rated for 2000 so it should not be a problem. Any profiles to o/c memeory and maybe set it to 1600.

Re:EVGA X58 Motherboards - BIOS 83 Released 2011/10/06 05:06:19 (permalink)
Jacob, this isnt exactly related to this bios, but one of the updates in the 80 series seems to have made USB coimpatibility worse. I use to be able to sync my iPhone with iTunes no problem, took my x58 Classified system down for a few months while I rebuilt it (New CPU/Ram/HD) and now I get the old problem with iTunes freezing when the iPhone is plugged in (unfreezes when removed).

I know it happens with Bios 82 and 83. When I took the system down it was on Bios 78 or 79. From my searches it seems this was an old issue that was fixed through bios updates in the past, but it seems its back.

It only seems to happen in the presence of an Antivirus, tested with MS Security Essentials, Nod32 and Kaspersky (Trend Titanium diddnt do it, but probably because its much less comprehensive) on my current install of Windows 7 x64 and on 2 fresh installs, 1 with absoloutly no updates/non essential drivers and one fully updated. You need to remove them to make it work again, simply disabling does not effect it.
I have a Gigabyte USB3 card that it also happens on so its not a specific problem with the onboard USB controller.

Works fine on my socket 775 system.

BIOS 83 and JMicron RAID not compatible? 2011/10/08 19:40:23 (permalink)
I have a X58 SLI E760 MB and just upgraded to the 83 BIOS. Since upgrading the BIOS the JMicron RAID array prevents my system from booting. When I disconnect the 2 RAID drives from the controller the system boots fine. I tried updating the JMB763 JMicron drivers to the latest ones but this didn't help. Otherwise the bios is stable. I don't want to go back to a previous bios unless necessary. Can anyone suggest a solution please?

EVGA X58 Classified E760, i7 920 CPU, OC to 4.0GHz, 83 BIOS, 2 EVGA GTX295 video cards in SLI, 240GB Corsair SSD as main drive, 2x Samsung 1TB hard drives in RAID (JMicron), 1 x WD 2TB hard drive, LG Blu-ray writer, Sony Optiarc CD writer, Corsair Dominator 1600mhz 3x2GB, Coolermaster Cosmos S case, Win 7 Pro 64.

My primary SSD boot drive drive is where it should be as number one in the boot priority list. If I reorder it I will not be able to boot at all. I am not sure what you mean by change the boot order in the BIOS.

Re:BIOS 83 and JMicron RAID not compatible? Update - fixed! 2011/10/09 23:55:42 (permalink)
I found that I had my SATA drives set to IDE in the BIOS. I changed to AHCI and that fixed the JMicron RAID boot problem. I dont understand how but very happy it did!

More reasons for us to stick with X58 now that Bulldozer utterly failed...
Hope we'll see some nice BIOS fixes and updates soon!

Mouse not booting / powering up...? 2011/10/18 00:23:04 (permalink)
Probably a stupid question; but I recently noticed some problems with my USB mouse again.

7 out of 10 times, I have to take out the usb connector of my mouse and replug it back in, to make it work. In other words; it doesn't boot up the mouse...? It was working without problems a few weeks and now I am getting these problems again.

I thought I should increase voltage somewhere? But I don't recall which one it was... Any advice? Thanks.

Looks like the USB issues are back with 8x BIOS releases.
Here's another person with a similar problem.

My 470 gtx locks up with 83, 82, or any other bios above 59 on my 760 ... (mostly when running games ) on 59 i can run it for days with no lockups but with Intel raid on in 59 windows feels very sluggish  but its good on 82 83 lol im stuck in between a rock and a hard place...
ive got 2 470s i run them separately(1 at a time) in the same computer they both lockup...

Same here, however i replaced cards with HD6970 Setup. Bios 82/83 are ****ed up, unfortunately eVga didn't look at it.

If you your board has one, check to see if you have the X-Cool jumper set to the wrong position, that could account for the temperature being way off.

I'm not sure why it would say socket 432... what software is telling you that?

I have X58 SLI motherboard and I downloaded the CD version .  However, the ISO image is empty.  It does not contain any files.  Can someone verify the files are in the ISO image and if they are, any suggestions on why I'm not seeing them?

The working parts of this ISO image are all in the invisible bootable bits.  It's entirely normal for _this_ CD to look blank.

If you really want to verify that something is there, open the ISO with 7zip.  You should see something like [bootable] IIRC.
