Note - If you have a GT or GF product (e.g. GT 1030), you will now see a message on the View Details page that your product does not qualify for Step-Up.  If you are already in the Step-Up queue, nothing has changed.  However, we will update this page with your Step-Up status if your card is still in the Step-Up queue.

Hello everyone,

Today we are announcing new Step-Up terms, effective immediately.  This does not affect anyone in the current Step-Up queue; however, these rules will apply if you cancel your Step-Up and resubmit.

To Step-Up a card, you must have the following:
  1. Only EVGA GeForce RTX and GTX graphics cards with a 3-Year Warranty qualify as a product that you can Step-Up from, and each GPU has a ceiling for how high the product can Step-Up to. This information can be seen in the chart below.
    1. Products must still be purchased new, and Step-Up is only available to the original purchaser.
    2. Step-Ups must still be started within 90 Days from the date of purchase.
    3. Registration is still required within 14-days from the date of purchase, or a purchase of an EVGA Extended Warranty is required if registered outside of the 14-days from the date of purchase.
  2. Your Step-Up eligible card must have a Step-Up Option (e.g. RTX 3060 can Step-Up to an RTX 3070/3070 Ti/3080/3080 Ti, while the RTX 3090 does not currently have a Step-Up option).
  3. Your Step-Up eligible card must be able to Step-Up to a graphics card listed within the Step-Up Inventory List (see the current Inventory list below).
Eligible Option Chart:

Step-Up Inventory List:

The Eligible Option Chart will be updated upon new product releases.  The Inventory List is updated when products are added or removed from the Step-Up program.  These can both be found on the EVGA Step-Up Page.

Hey Lee. Thanks for the update. I notice this is going forward, but what about cards purchased previously to this change? Am I to assume that you are retroactively removing/downgrading benefits from previous purchases?

I made the cutoff time but my step up got cancelled? Is there a way to reinstate it or am I screwed?

Cards that were not in the Step-Up queue prior to these changes going into affect are subject to the new terms and conditions.

Will be interesting to see how that plays out considering certain benefits were advertised at the time of purchase and were retroactively removed.

So, here's what happened.  We updated that section to display a message that non-eligible products do not qualify for the Step-Up program, and remove the option to start a new Step-Up.  This is more of a cosmetic thing, and doesn't effect products in the Step-Up queue.  Your Step-Ups in progress currently show Active on our end, so you're OK.

Having the same issue with my 1030.  Uploaded invoice and registered for step up weeks ago before the changes, now it says my step-up isnt allowed. Got the email for step 1/5 too saying my reservation was saved. Was registered on 12/17.

This is a programming issue. If you had made the request prior to the new terms nothing has changed for your request. We will hopefully have this addressed soon.

Hello! I'm on step up queue since October 2nd 2020 with a RTX 2080 Super for a RTX 3080. After a year and 3 months of wait on step 1 now, I can see that unfortunate European customers get very little attention compared to US ones.
Now rules are changing, and while I see that you said people already in queue are not affected by these changes, I really hope it will still be the case until the European queue is cleared (and who knows how long it will take... ).

So just to be clear, the 1650 I ordered December 30 and gets delivered later today is now no longer eligible to be stepped up to a 30 series card? That is extremely disappointing. Would've been nice if it had been changed with a "Any cards with a purchase invoice after today are not eligible."

Not a good way to treat your customers who ordered under one agreement and then the agreement was changed.

I purchased a 1650 on January 1st, which has not yet arrived in the mail. The fact that it would be eligible for the step up program was a factor in my decision (going to a 3060 or 3050). It is a small disappointment, but I must note that EVGA is not delivering on their promises in this case:

"The EVGA Step-Up program gives you the peace of mind to purchase your product now, knowing you can upgrade to the latest parts that come out within the first 90 days from your purchase"

I purchased the card, haven't received it yet.  I purchased the card solely to "Step up", I am not interested in the card otherwise.  It seems a fairer way to go would be to honor the terms that were in effect when the card was purchased, ie the invoice date, and the terms that were in effect at that time.

If you went by the invoice date and the terms that were in effect at that time, this would not be an issue of course.

EVGA can do I guess one of two things.

It's probably a relatively small subset of customers, so EVGA can say screw 'em

Or they could say, it's a small subset of customers, let's honor the agreement.

There might only be dozens or hundreds of us, but I already told my friends that this is going to be the origin story for some B tier anti-EVGA villain that shows up in season 4 of some god awful WB Superhero show. In the early 2020s, the GPU market was dire. In the early weeks of 2022, a desperate man found hope in an EVGA step up program. He had spent months registering for NewEgg shuffle GPU slots, Best Buy drops and AMD queues. He found out about B-stock drops only to have EVGA switch to Elite Members only the 2nd week he tried to buy one. Finally, finally, he managed to get a lowly 1650 from an overpriced antonline bundle. This was the final betrayal. The morning of the arrival of the GPU, EVGA destroyed his hopes of consistent Star Citizen frames per second.

Coming to Season of the Arrow/Flash reboot in 2028, the EVGAssassin.

I find it weird that 16 series can only step up to… probably 2060, if it even opens. Seeing as that’s the only current Turing card in production in the RTX 20 Series line.
Like… they’re basically telling 16 series card holders who were effectively waiting for either 3090 Ti to launch, or were waiting 3080 Step Up to reopen, no Ampere card for you.
16 series uses the same Turing arch as 20 series.
Hopefully they offer a token gesture, the ability to Step Up to 3050, for these last gen card buyers who are now stuck with having to deal with the option being taking away from them.

I purchased a 1030 earlier this week, it is arriving today.  Does your new rule change apply to those that made the purchase while the old rules were in place, but haven't received it yet?  If so, that seems a little unprofessional from a company that has had such a great reputation for customer service, up to this point.

I think Lee made is clear earlier in this thread that even if you card was step-up able at the time of purchase they have retroactively removed the benefit.

Looks like it. I had purchased and registered a 1030 card in December for step-up, and was waiting to enter into the step up queue once I got the funds. It's no longer available to return, so that's $160 down the drain I guess. Leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

What feels like a fair way to do it is any cards purchased after January 6th are subject to the new terms and conditions. I'm hoping EVGA can work with us here. I completely understand what they are trying to do, and support it, but for following the rules and getting monetarily punished for it feels a little bad.

Similar situation here. I’m still waiting for delivery of my low series card ordered in 2021 from an authorized retailer. I’ve never done business with EVGA, and was so relieved to have finally come up with a solution to finding a graphics card after over a year of struggling. I pray that they decide to honor cards purchased before the announcement. I wouldn’t have thought any company would just nuke folks out of a program and leave them sitting at a loss. I made sure to go through the fine print with a comb to make sure I was following everything to a “T.” I have no use for this card that I have purchased and solely bought it for use in the program before the policy had changed.

This leaves a super poor taste in my mouth as far as how this company operates at the moment and just to put it bluntly, “stinks.”

It will definitely be interesting to see how they respond to this.  I am a member of a discord with 30,000 members, it is just one of MANY.  This has been the number 1 topic of discussion for the past 12 hours.  Up to this point, Evga is the number one recommendation to new members, due to their reputation for great customer service.  At the same time, there are other companies that people are actively dissuaded from using, based on poor customer service experiences.  I just hope they are aware that it isn't just the dozen people in this forum that are waiting to see how this is handled.

Having the same issue with my 1030.  Uploaded invoice and registered for step up weeks ago before the changes, now it says my step-up isnt allowed. Got the email for step 1/5 too saying my reservation was saved. Was registered on 12/17.

Same issue.  Your Step-Up is fine.

Is it fair to assume that my step-up is fine as well with registration on 12/19? Or does a check need to be made?

    Thanks,

Like many others, I too have bought a 1030, received it, registered it all before the step up policy change. What about us, do we get grandfathered in or are we all out of luck.

According to Lee your benefits have been retroactively terminated under their current policy.
