My SSD would improve my computing experience by allowing me to finally get put my most important datae onto a reliable storage device and relgate the Western Digital Caviar Green drive that I stupidly purchased and put in my primary PC in order to replace nearly a half dozen worth of failed Seagates.

My story starts roughly 3 years ago when I purchased in mass quantities, Seagate 320GB .10's and later some .11 drives. Since then I have been plagued by roughly 2 RMA's of drives every single year, each time suffering through a loss of data, frusterataion at not backing up regularly and subsquently the hassle of RMA, reinstall of the OS and copying over all my data again.

Getting an SSD would finally allow me to turf the last 320GB in my system which I attempted to supplement with a new WD 1TB drive, I bought it for reliability and then realized, realiable = slow.

I am back to my Seagate, waiting every night for it to crap out on me...again.

I use my pc all day every day since I built it. It has over 5,507 hrs on it. It remains on 24/7 for Internet, Gaming, DLDing, and recently Folding, etc... I would use an SSD to make better use of my pc and it's features. And free up my current OS drive for more storage. I am ordering some new products at the end of the week. Been saving for more than six months now to get an i7, X58 Classified, 6g's ram, and a water cooling system for the cpu. An SSD would make my new setup (when I get it) even better, I can't wait until I can afford a couple of them to run in RAID-0 and really see the advantages of SSD's.
Also because I am number #123, that's just awesome.

I personally would use the extra SSD to build, compile, and serve Team Fortress 2 Maps.  Outside that, I would use it as a Server drive for Databases / Web Pages.

Wow! An SSD would literally change my life! Currently, my wife uses my computer for her photography business. She is constantly waiting for Photoshop, Bridge, Picasa, Chrome, Quickbooks, file transfers and Itunes to catch up to her editing. If I had an SSD not only would I be able to frag more I'd actually get to "see" my wife. I would be so much happier with life. I'd get to play TF2, use MY computer and actually talk to my wife. (I never said anything about a social life). An SSD would speed up her Photoshop Actions as well as many other issues caused by a bottlenecking hard drive. Please help me!

A SSD would be the perfect fix to the weak chain in my computer. I have a highly overclocked CPU and RAM setup that suffers due to my SLOW Caviar Green HDD. I built this machine as my multipurpose PC and i use it for everything, from storing massive amounts of photos to writing papers and entertainment after all my work is done. Being a college Engineering student, time is a premium. My most important use of my desktop is to program, work with CAD systems (which require lots of data and the ability to open/transfer/save quickly), to perform simulating is the futre and other tasks related to my schoolwork. My system was built to maximize efficiency and lifespan and having a slower, more crash prone system is contradictory to my efforts.
Basically, this would help me get more work done, in less time and not have to worry about losing a drive and the massive frustration that follows.

As stated in comment about system on personal page, the current 320 GB HDD is always the lowest performing component when testing system. A reasonably-sized SSD has been on my wishlist for some time now. Fast, quiet, and reliable are main reasons for wanting to upgrade. I have no doubt a solid state drive would be a big improvement.

SSD's will change my computing experience because I deal with a lot of video editing and streams, and when a couple of streams are going at the same time, my current raid 0 setup lows to a crawl. When placed in raid especially, SSD's will outperform any drive currently on the market. It will also aid in all aspects of computer performance if placed as the boot drive.

I bought an SSD for $150, it is the only SSD which can afford to buy other than any SSD's that is very expensive and I'm impress when I use it as Primary Drive and install Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit ..its fast installation and fast booting process about 10 seconds...loading windows application and loading games as flash loading without any delays. fast read and write and performance. the SSD can save me a lot from slowness it's very efficient, less expensive. the SSD's will revolutionized drive storage that beat mechanical HDD's.

Well for my home system i have a early model samsung ssd 64gb but the read and write speeds are not nearly comparable to the new solidstates but its in a very solid stainless aluminum case. While It boots noticably faster my raptorx drive is close up behind it but one thing my raptor drive is gunna hit long before the ssd, is its end life which is probably close at hand. Now for the ssd i don't know if some have mentioned but these drives have far more capabilites than just speeding things up a bit, they also can take much more abuse than any spinning drive can. now my father works for the local fire department and when there using the toughbook for gps and running the software that monitors how many people are on the truck and who is at the station what happens when that fire truck pops a curb or hits a nice speed bump well my dad as most people do to machines that stop responding they smack it a few times and it starts working again. well i took all his station's toughbooks and stuck some 32gb ssd drives in each one and now he can drop the thing down a flight of stairs and more than likely if the screen doesnt break it will keep downloading and sending data. this technology not only makes things work faster but it also helps in areas that a normal drive just can't perform.

Having a SSD would totally overhaul my daily computing. The load times for my games would fly for the games I play like Crysis, WoW, and COD: MW2 to name a few. It would be nice to be able to boot Windows 7 and be ready to go compared to waiting for everything to load on my SATA drive with a cold boot. I would be able to use money towards newer EVGA Video cards or even one of EVGA's X58 Motherboards and a new processor.

Motherboard: Asus Maximus VI Hero
Processor: Intel Core i7 4770k
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 w/ Dual NF-A15
Memory: 32GB G. Skill Trident X Series
GPU: EVGA GTX 980 SC 4GB (Hybrid)
Sound Card: Creative Sound Blaster Z
Case: Corsair Obsidian 750D
Power Supply: Corsair AX Series AX860
Hard Drive: Samsung 850 Pro 512GB SSD
OS: Windows 10 Professional 64bit

I can't wait for SSD prices to fall to the point where I can put them in both my laptop and desktop.  In addition to one of the biggest upgrades I could make performance wise in my laptop, it would also increase battery life (not many performance increases can do that!).  For my desktop, I can't wait for load times for programs and map changes in games to decrease dramatically as well.

Well seems how the conventional harddrive is the slowest part of a computer, There is only 1 answer.. For speed!

C2Q Q6600 @ 3.15 // ASUS P5N32-E SLi // 4GB DDR2 800 (2x2GB) // 2x eVGA 8800GTS 640's // SB Audigy 4 // WD160GB SATAII // Dell Ultrasharp & NEC 19" LCD's // Tuniq Tower 120 // Tagan 600w SLI PSU // Samsung DVD/RW // Samsung CD/RW

Not only will SSD help greatly from day to day use. Some of the other advantages of using SSD will be:

1. SSD uses less power than conventional disk rotating drives.
2. Quiet operation unlike conventional drives (very noisy)
2. With less power usage, you get less heat  build up in the system, thus keeping the system cool.
3. Can withstand high impact, shock, temperature much better than conventional drives. For example, using SSD in vibration prone projects like inside aircraft, or or high G-Force project for the military. Record multiple video surveillance feeds to a SSD without issues.
4. Faster start up because no spin-up time wasted.
5. Faster random access, no moving parts like head, providing high mechanical reliability.
6. Very light weight compare to conventional drives.

For work:
With SSD, I can run several VMWare images (XP, Vista, Windows7 and several versions of linux )simultaneously on a single i7 + EVGA-X58 motherboard without issues. It helps me develop websites and software for different platforms on a single computer without much performance degradations off just 1 computer and SSD.

For my side hobbies:
If anyone has worked with Video/Audio software, one should know it requires the a lot of IO for capturing/playback audio/video data. For ProTools 8 running at full tracks, I was using 4-6 conventional drives to record/playback live sessions. I can do it all with just 1 SSD. In fact, with an Magma PCIe expansion chassis, a laptop with a SSD drive allows me to do all the audio editing on my laptop, without using a desktop.

with FinalCut Pro, I' will able to capture/playing/edit HD off a couple of raid 0 SSD! Instead of having a 6-12 drives conventional disk array!

With 2 OCZ-P84 SSD @Raid 0, ATTO Benchmark gives approx 1GB/s, I have all my apps and games running off of it :) I can't wait to try out several EVGA's SSD!

The Kingston SSD showed in many tests a steady performance and sometimes even surprising for me. I work very much with computers, sometimes gaming, programming websites, design in Photoshop and Corel (as much as i can with my current system from home) and as you know i need speed and stability. I don`t have it for the moment as my home computer isn`t really new. But having a Kingston SSD will help me with my work a lot.

Kingston SSDNow drive has the power to bring me closer to reality. It has all that i need: faster boot times, less power consumption, less noise, a much better access time, reliability, longer lasting.
For sure it will help me a lot with my current work. I only have a classic HDD, I would definitely love to have this SSD as well, just perfect for my OS, for sure it will boost my computers`s overall performance.

I would use the SSD as system drive, but also for my favorit games so they load faster. My rig is pretty old byt still does the job i need it for. But a boost in loading times is more than welcome. And with long hours at the job and 3 kids, waiting for the machine to boot and TF2 to load is a waste of time. Rather use those extra seconds to frag :)

Every time I power up my computer I can feel the wait times increasing. I can hear the hard drive spin its little heart out as it struggles to load the system. Let alone the fact that it has even failed to start up on occasions making the restart/loading times increase. I am sure that a SSD will help get rid of this bottleneck in my system and put me on then path to greatness; a desperate need for speed!

I could use it to RAID 2 SSD's in my macbook. I'm all about computer modding so if I could put 2 SSD's in my macbook and RAID them, my overall performance would be alot better then it is now. I would load games, OS, programs much faster then i do now but the only problem is that SSD disks are very pricey and since I'm a student money is a problem.
If i win i will tear out my DVD drive and put in a SSD and then  post some pictures of my my "rig".

A PC found its way into my family room via the HTPC movement. Powered by a EVGA motherboard, EVGA graphic card and Blueray player too, it was a success. The only complaint from the boss (wife) was the clicking during Oprah and the View. Window decides to update during these times. I went through a lot of trouble making this box silent, only to forget about the hard drive. A SSD would make complete my goal of a silent PC and silent wife (at least about the PC).

An SSD would really help me - the current hard drive I'm using is a 2-3 year old 500GB Western Digital drive that is starting to click.  This would help me with loading times, and help my 3DMark scores.

I'm very much looking forward to going solid. The advancement from an age old magnetic disk, at the forefront of bottlenecks everywhere, is really exciting. I'll be loading game files with ease and hitting my Welcome Screen in seconds. I'm pretty pumped to say the least zomygooses.

At some point you have to ask "Do I need to push for this 100mhz?" The answer is yes, yes you do.

I hope to upgrade to an SSD for my OS drive as responsiveness, access time and read/copy/write speeds are very important for me. I tried to make it up by going for the Raptor/Velociraptor drivers in the past but SSD is the future!

Re:EVGA Mods Rigs "My SSD" promotion Wednesday, February 03, 2010 5:30 PM (permalink)
My computer i would define as a medium gaming computer, it is not full out, most expensive project that i could build, but it is fairly powerful. An AMD athlon 64 X2 5000+ Black Edition 2.6 GHz proccessor overclocked to 3.0 GHz, and a EVGA 260 core 216 overclocked about 30% are the heart of my computer, and give my win7 64bit OS scores of up to 7.2, and 6.1 for the processor, but my hard drive, a seagate barracuda, is the weakest part of my system. With a SSD, my computer might just be complete. i can run most games full out with no issues, but loading is still a large issue, and if i had a faster hard drive, i could get into battle a lot faster, without waiting at the load screen for an eon. I have always wanted a SSD, but the pricetag always scares me away. So for the time being, my sata 7200 drive works just fine, and ive got enough time to make a gaming snack while waiting for my game to get going. :P

"FALL BACK!!!"

You could hear the hysteria coming from the opposing team as it was being barked out over comms as M-COMM Bravo was already lost within the first two minutes of the match.

How could such a feat be pulled off so quickly leaving the opposing team full of questions?  With a brand new 64GB Kingston SSD!

SSD’s are the next big thing to hit the computing industry.  They represent a step towards no more bottlenecks in high end rigs allowing less waiting and enhanced productivity.  Being a full time student, I know how important time can be. Waiting for your computer to boot up and to load everything can take time away from your school work.  With the extra time saved with my SSD, I could even fit in a few fragging sessions to dominate the enemy EVGA style.

On top of the obvious performance gains, a more reliable, silent, and cooler PC is just an install away with a Kingston SSD.  Less power consumptions also means for a smaller electricity bill, along with a greener and more efficient computer towards the environment.

How can you go wrong with blazing speed, low power consumption, and consistent high performance from the industry leader?

SSD’s are the way to be!
