I'd like to have one of those jewels myself. I promise i'll treat it right and tell it funny stories when it gets scared of the thunder. The thunder of course being my killer machine with a super fast SSD drive installed.

A brand new extremely fast SSD would feel superior to my four 300GB VelociRaptors in RAID 0!!!  System boot would increase and game loading would be fantastic. Thank you, EVGA, for this opportunity to win one of these bad boys!!

I have 4 Raptors in a RAID 0 configuration using a Supertrak EX4650 and it screams. I would like to throw 4 SSD's in my rig to see what happens.

In all I want to make this short and sweet, the reason why I'm doing this is because I need change in my life. I was diagnosed December '09 with Hodgkin's Disease and I'm currently going through Chemotherapy to hopefully get rid of it, but all in all the SSD Win would push my i7 Gaming Power House past 5.9 Windows Experience Score in Windows 7.

Truthfully a win like this would be absolutely amazing and take a dreary situation and make it better.

I have a pretty decent system set up as a file/application/print server for me and my friends here at college. We're experimenting with Windows Server and it would be awesome if I could replace my aging Seagate hard drive with an SSD. I'd definitely notice the improvement in speed, and since Kingston uses Intel technology, even better.

Awwwwwww yeaahhhh! check-check it!

RAP!

Need an SSD for my rig so I'm bustin these rhymes
Money's tight so I bought my pieces one at a time
Playin' games on my Opteron is almost a crime
So I've saved every penny, every nickle and dime.

First I bought a case and a power supply
They sat collecting dust as some time went by
My next paycheck dissapeared with the bills
So I did some research until my pockets refilled.

Knowledge is power and I'm glad that I read
Cuz I was goin AMD but went Intel instead
Placed the order for my parts online at the Egg
And got a Core i7 with enabled HyperTheads.

When my roomate sees my rig, that fool's gunna cry
Cuz it's rockin the EVGA P-Five-Five
Core i7 860 Intel Inside
All it's missin is a (free!) Kingston Solid State Drive!

EVGA I'm beggin you, please gimmie a hand
With an SSD my rig could be the best in the land
All these other forum posts are uncreative and bland
This rap is like a diamond on a beach fulla sand!

EVGA fo' life sukkas! PEACE!

-------------------------------------------------------------

To hoseman18:

Props to the other rapper
Wish I'd posted these lyrics faster
Good luck to you sir, much respect
May the best man win that Kingston Tech

I recently built a rig that is using the WD 1TB Green HDD as the hdd with Windows 7 (64bit) OS on it. The hdd uses less energy by having variable rotational speeds between 5400 RPM to 7200 RPM. With an SSD I will be able to use all of the components of the rig to their full potentials while using the green hdd as a backup drive conserving more energy and producing less heat. If I am able to test the performances of the EVGA mobo and the EVGA GTX 260 that I currently have in the rig, then I will be able to provide valuable feedback to help EVGA improve new products.

I have been a long time computer software enthusiast for 18 years and built my first computer 6 months ago. I was new to the hardware scene and researched for 3 months before finalizing the list of parts to purchase. On the list included four Western Digital drives intended for a RAID 0 configuration, as well as a fifth drive used for system image backups. Reviews and research artitcles raved the performance of RAID, so I got four drives. On paper, it was the perfect build. In reality, it was blown out of the water by a single SSD. Where my RAID config failed me, I know Kingston won't.

I would love an Ssd drive, it would provide the speed my system need's to fully harness all the uber goodness of my Evga products.

The drives I have now in Raid-0 only offer a glimpse of the performance available from a single one of these new Ssd's.

how would a ssd affect my computer experience?

Of course there would be some overall speed and benching gains. It would make me immensly happy to have that type technology to put to good use on all the games i play etc... but i think if i do get picked and i do win one id like mine given to Afterburner since he could def use it also and i kno it would put a smile on his face!!! So EVGA, if you pick me and i happen to win just send it straight to AB and let him kno it came from me, wmmills(massdeth) and wish him the best on my behalf!!! Just send me a email letting me know that you sent it thats all....   \m/

Having a Kingston SSD drive in my system would drastically reduce Windows boot times and make all of my daily computer activities much quicker.  Mechanical hard drives are the weakest link in any PC and I have had more than my fair share of failures. In fact I just had to reinstall yesterday after the main drive in my system suddenly conked out. I hate that dreaded click click sound

I would use my SSD as a operating system drive for faster boot times, opening programs, saving work, also video editing, and maybe a game or two just to see the difference in map load times. Ive read so much about how SSDs are faster and the fact that they dont have moving parts is a plus that means no ware on moving parts.

That’s what’s cool about working with computers. They don’t argue, they remember everything, and they don’t drink all your beer.

Since SSD's have no moving parts , they are then far superior to Hardrives. If i were to win a 64GB Kingston SSD , i would know without a doubt that performance would go up over my raptor drive. Response time is dramatically increased and the best part is no deframenting the ssd since it does not do anything. Making a ssd my OS boot drive would allow for smoother multitasking and quicker boots !

SSD will help my computer start up fast. With my regular hard drives it takes a while for Windows to post. With an SSD the improvement in boot time almost cut in half. Thats what SSD will do for me because I would install my Windows 7 to it.

Well as some of you already know I just started building my new rig actually consist of one SSD currently because I won't lie they are expensive so I could not afford to buy another since I am waiting for EVGA's Fermi cards I would like to win this SSD simply because I only have one in my system. It would be nice to actually do a RAID 0. I've never done one obviously since this is my first build.

An SSD would give me that last little push I need to get busy organising for a clean Windows7 install. I'd also love to see my mates faces when I restart my computer in 30 seconds

I have to say the specs of this SSD do look pretty good. A nice sized cache, fast access time and benchies show the read/write speed is actually about what the manufacturer claims (don't see that every day, lol).

While I'm clearly making this post to try and win an SSD, what I said above is sincere.

Hmm, how a SSD would change my computer...

First, SILENCE!!!
My raptor is loud as hell, I can hear it writing through a wall from in my bathroom.

And second, FAST!!!
nuff' said.

Its the only thing I don't have!

You wouldn't put hub caps on a Ferrari would you?

Please help me complete my monster!

In all honesty, I live in a 90 year old Seattle house. We don't have any cable outlets in any of our rooms, so my computer acts as the house DVR/Media Server for my roommates. While at the same time I use it for HTPC/Gaming/Folding. I do have plenty of storage(almost 5tb), but the problem is speed. I recently added 2 500gb HDD in raid0 thinking that would help, but the speed increase wasn't that great and I had issues running windows. So now I'm back to running this beast on a 1tb WD Caviar Black. Its a good hard drive, but not fast enough for what I need it to do. I really push my computer to the limits 24/7. I need that extra boost that mechanical drives can't give me. A SSD would let me run independently from my storage drives so I can game and fold while my roommates stream HD shows off my computer.

SSD would improve noise level, because there are no moving parts and the fact that Im really curious on how it performs against a good HDD. The faster loading and write speed should   help me in many different program/applications I run everyday when I work on my PC.

Like most of the people in this thread, I'm looking forward to quick boot times, and the general improvement in snappiness that is possible with an SSD. Just a couple of days ago I ordered a new setup for myself but did not include an SSD in the build solely because of the cost; I'm starting to rethink that decision because it would be a dramatic improvement over a standard mechanical harddrive. If I had an SSD it would be used as a boot/applications drive and then have a separate drive for storage. One way or another, I'm sure I will end up with an SSD, although I may have to wait for prices to drop a little and my bank account to recover from my recent system purchase.

Re:EVGA Mods Rigs "My SSD" promotion Saturday, February 06, 2010 3:42 AM (permalink)
I have bad luck with hard drives. My initial build had a 300gig Velociraptor 10k drive and was expensive and super fast. But they don't like liquid cooling when it's sprayed on it from a bad tube leak. Dead and out of warrenty :( so I upgraded a raid 0 setup with 2 Western digital 320 gig drives and it was fast again. Then one day system kept bogging down and I kept hearing a bad clicking noises. Apparently one of my drives had died so I lost my entire raid arrary. So now I've got a single 320 gig. It's ok, but lacking on space. and 2 pretty decent paper weights :P
A new SSD can give me more bragging rights to my build which I feel the only thing it's lacking. I would use it as my main OS drive and several of my most played games. then use my current for extra storage and other games. It give me much pleasure in how much faster they are compared to spindle drives. Heard they're better than the raptors.  Also I wouldn't feel so bad about crapping out my other 2.
