A SSD of that size would allow me to install more game and files on a faster Harddrive. The smaller ones only have room for the OS and a fire other programs, like Firefox and EVGA Percision of course. The speed you can get out of a single can be greater then classic harddrives set up in Raid 0, not to mentions much more reliable. This would help make my mod rig faster all around.

I am an electrical engineering and computer science student. The FPGA editors and other engineering programs would load up my files faster. Since my work requires me to be 100% correct all the time or nothing works, I often have to save A LOT in case of wrong changes or program crashes. Luckily with an SSD, save times would be a whole lot faster. Having an SSD would definitely help speed up my productivity.

A new SSD would certainly improve the way my computer is running drastically. A main purpose I'd use it for is to transfer files faster through Windows. And then finally make my game loading times and run times a beast.

Would love one for one simple reason. I go to a ton of lans with my team, I am sick of one of my teammate who always shows up with the best computer 12gb of ram, i7 Extreme, Raid 0 VelociRaptors, water cooled. 3way SLI with 280s THE WORKS! Anyways my system is just always a few steps behind him and it would be real cool to show up to a LAN, tell him "Hey, lets see who boots up after, or loads a map" and then get a picture of the look on his face and come back and paste it here for us all to enjoy (evil grins) >=)

If i get an SSD it would be awesome because the hard drive I'm using is dying, when i play cod mw2 it makes an annoying sound. Its louder than the M4A1..... Good thing about SSD is that there are no moving parts, therefore i won't face this problem ever again. I can always take advantage of fast booting window and better game performance.

I want one because I really don't want to watch my wallet give me the glare of "you don't really have that money" when I buy one in the future. I would love to be able to get my OS running faster, and be able to load games almost instantaneously. I would really love to see the boost an SSD gives and perhaps buy another in the future if it turns out good. I also do an incredible amount of file transferring for work, and believe this would incredibly lessen the load on my HDD.

Hi, I own 64GB SSD drive which acts as a system disk and caches my photoshop and premier work. I believe that the investment in SSD is really paid off. It so quiet and Win 7 on SSD loads extremely fast in comparison to Vista which is installed on regular disk. I'm using my rig mostly for development and graphics. The major goal in design my rig was gaining the maximum level of silence. Quiet fans, noise absorption case and ofcourse quiet DISK. It's almost noiseless and in comparison to regular disks which i heard from the other room. VIVA SSD

When I fire up my current game rig I have five basic problems. 1. It boots slowly. 2. It draws tons of power and dims the lights. 3. It is loud. 4. My wife hates it when I game for hours. 5. My wife hates it when I say I need TRIM. An SSD would solve the first 3 of my problems and also reduce the likelihood she would notice I have slipped off to fire it up in the first place. It could also satisfy my lustful need for TRIM so sending me an SSD to be used as a bootdrive in my windows 7 gaming rig could save my marriage. Please help.

An SSD would largely improve the performance of my Windows install, while also permitting me to utilize my larger RAID solely for large media and applications; granting me not only better disk organization but also all-around better task-oriented utilization. Setting each drive to their strengths to yield better results. The prospect of being able to boot in faster than it takes for me to POST is quite exciting, along with the possibility of opening certain files, libraries, and enhancing my over-all computer speed as result by any percentage is a gain I would absolutely love to have!

That depends on which SSD you are using generally speaking yes, but they do require some proper tweaking in order to achieve their maximum potential. Personally I have been using the 1st Generation G.Skill Falcons 64GB for about a year now, I went through firmware versions 1571 & 1819. My synopsis from using the same brand and size on both of my gaming systems has been quit enjoyable. But to get these things to move you need to do some minor tweaks in your registry most of tweaks are my own preferences, but out of my two drives they are going a year strong with no write or read deterioration. One last thing I would like to ad is learn the art of disc imaging if you're going to do some heavy benchmarking or registry editing. The Good 1. Loaded times are much faster than any SCSI drive or Velociraptor. 2. Mobile platforms can benefit from improved power configurations and run longer. 3. Reliability being shock-proof really a mobile benefit, but I feel it deserves mentions. The Bad 1. Smaller GB sizes when compared to platter drives. 2. Price to GB ratio. 3. Advanced configuration for basic users. Here is a list I made a while back on the G.Skill Forum http://gskill.us/forum/showthread.php?t=913 SSD Cheat Sheet Ver. 1.2: Laptop BIO's Reset: Remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter from the laptop then hold down the power button for at least 30 seconds. Enable Wiper/Trim for NVIDIA Nforce Boards: Go to \My Computer\\Properties\\Device Manager\\IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers\\NVIDIA nForce Serial ATA Controller\ go ahead and Update Driver Software. Then click on “Browse My Computer for Driver Software”, Choose “Let Me Pick from a List of Device Drivers on My Computer” and pick 'Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller' and hit ok. Hibernation disable: Start new search then type and then hit regedit.exe in the search results list. At the command prompt, type “powercfg.exe -h off”, and then press enter, then type exit and enter. Write-cache enabled: Right click on the SSD Properties in device manager, go to policies and enable “Write Caching on The Disk”. There is no need for the quick removal option as the SSD will never be removed from the computer checked and enable “Advanced Performance”. Temporary Internet Folder: Under Internet Explorer go to the “Tools”, then to which will bring up Internet Options, then go to Browser History and hit “Settings”, Go to Current Location and hit “Move Folder” then proceed to move the folder to your alternate location, IE secondary Drive or a None SSD or OS drive. Defrag disabled: Right click on the SSD drive \Properties\\Tools\\Defragment\ and un-check “Schedule Defragment This Drive”. Boot Defrag disable: Start add search entry under Run then type and then hit regedit.exe. Go to \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\ SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Dfrg\\BootOptimizeFunction\\E nable\ modify then type N and click OK. System Restore disabled: Right click \My Computer\\Properties\\Advanced System Settings\\System Protection Tab\ and un-check C drive and follow on screen instructions. Search Indexing disabled: \Start\\Control Panel\\Administrative Tools\\Services\ then scroll down to “Windows Search” and right click\ properties and change startup type to disabled. Drive Indexing disabled: For both “SSD and RAM Drives” My Computer then right-click on the SSD drive properties and un-check “Drive Indexing”. Follow the small wizard guide and wait for it to finish. Superfetch disabled: Start new search entry under Run, then type and then hit regedit.exe. Go to \Hkey_local_machine\\SYSTEM\\CurrentControlSet\\Co ntrol\\Session Manager\\Memory Management\\PrefetchParameters then right click EnableSuperfetch. Hit modify and change 3 to 0 and hit OK, Also this can be done through \Start\\Control Panel\\Administrative Tools\\Services, then scroll down to superfetch and make sure it’s "disabled" on startup. Prefetch disabled: Start new search entry under Run, then type and then hit regedit.exe. Go to Hkey_local_machine\\SYSTEM\\CurrentControlSet\\Con trol\\Session Manager\\Memory Management\\PrefetchParameters then right click Enableprefetcher then hit modify and change 3 to 0 and hit OK. Pagefile disabled: Right click \My Computer\\Properties\\Advanced System Settings\\Advanced Tab\\Performance\\Settings\\Advanced Tab\\Virtual Memory\ and then hit change, un-check "Automatically Manage Paging File for all Drives" then check "No Paging File" and hit set. Moving the Pagefile: Go to “System Properties”. Click “Advanced System Settings” there on settings under “Performance”. Hit the “Change” button under “Virtual Memory”. The Virtual Memory window opens and it will display all drive partitions on top and the size of their paging files. Select your Solid State Drive and check the “No Paging File” entry. Click the Set button to set the new preferences. Now select another hard drive and assign the pagefile to that drive if you have more than two drives Move the “Temp and Tmp” files: Go to \My Computer\\Properties\\Advanced\\Environment Variables\, then highlight the "temp or tmp" depending on which one you’re working on, pick the variable, click edit, and Change the path to another hard drive if they are located on the Solid State with the “Variable Value Field”. PIO Mode: Make sure the SSD is not running in PIO mode. To verify that go into the Device Manager, open IDE ATA / ATAPI controllers and double-click all Primary and Secondary IDE Channels. Verify that there are no signs of PIO Mode under the Current Transfer Mode entry in Advanced Settings. It should list Ultra DMA Mode 5 by default on there.

The SSD would surely help boost my system specs. Lower loading times for games and app would allow me to further invest in other areas of my config that are weak. My Raid 0 80GB HD's are also having many problems with temperature and may have problems in the future, trading for an SSD now would preserve my data... http://www.evga.com/commu...omment.asp?sysid=19639

A ssd would be used to allow for a better responsive system, with the ssd acting as a inter-storage solution where I can use it more as a very large and fast swap file (that holds my OS and games) and that would allow me for faster load times and a better way to handle the waterfall of data storage speeds without using large ram drives (and really expensive and high density ram). The cray supercomputers focused on getting as much data to the processor as possible and eliminating the bottlenecks that others simply ignored in their designs, and thus it was one of the faster commercial mainframe in it's time. I aim to do the same with this ssd.

I would use a SSD to get the faster load times on my windows 7 x64 machine. Currently I have my nice 320GB 16MB cache drive, which is not bad by any means, but it can be slow at times. I also use my 2 1TB 32mb cache drives for storage and its sad how at times they can be faster than my main OS drive. As for how the SSD's have changed, well we can all see that they have dropped in price since they first came out and are the leading HD in speed in the market. I mean of course you can get raptors @ 10k RPM's and raid them and it will almost the same. The major pro about the SSD is that there is no chance of getting that halt on a laptop when you toss it on your bed and also the wake up times from sleep are outstanding.

I notice after having 2 Velociraptors in RAID-0 32k Strip as a Primary OS partition that going to an X25-M G2 the boot-up time from a cold start on a 4.2ghz i7 with 6GB's at 1600 on an EVGA X58 SLI was nearly identical. The fact of having 798gbs of free partition vs only 74.4 with only 8.7gb's with only system files to make my pc operate with it's peripheral software is nearly not enough. This being said I did not install any games on the Primary OS drive and have everything on my storage HD which si 500GB of just games of 465GBs and only 89.7gbs left. Having music, videos, and other patches on that already made it overflow so I had to use my 300gb which is 298gb of use and that only has 121gbs left. This being only a 64gb contest would give the people recieving the HD a headache and find out it's not enough to install everything they want. The winners of the Kingston hard drive contest can only use this for special business software and/or offloading all their games off their main to it because using it as an OS drive for Windows 7 x64 Ultimate is not enough. I deserve to win because I know the reason what is should it only be used for.

As part of my job I provide off-hours tech support to a government operational science office. Due to the nature of the operational activities, I need to be able to respond to support requests very quickly. Right now I leave my computer on 24x7 so that I don't have to wait for it to boot up if I get called. With an SSD I can shut my system down or put it in hibernate and know it'll come up quickly - which would be better for the environment. I've also been using Windows 7 RC1, but with that about to expire I need to re-install windows 7 (with the version I just purchased last week). Having an SSD to load that fresh copy of the OS on would be ideal!

SSD hard drive are well worth the extra money if you are strictly interested in performance. I have read some awful stories about SSD hard drives and was weary when i purchased my OCZ Agility 60GB SSD. I have all my games installs on this drive and they load up super fast. I am actually in the market to purchase another one and put my OS on it. I would like to get all top ratings of 7's in windows 7 64 bit. I am a believer in the SSD hard drivers. The read and write speeds are unmatched.

The short and sweet of it is that I'm tired of my PC rating suffering because of the hard drive. Everything else in my case scores 7.1 or higer in the Windows Rating; except for the hard drive. It is a sad little 5.2 and needs to be retired as a system drive. Is this a petty reason? Probably, but has a PC gamer, we are proud of our babies, and want them to be the best they can be. And, sometimes, that's hard to do when you have to balance upgrades with a household budget.

i am curious about SSD's since it's introduction, but due to high price, i will probably have to wait for it to become mainstream. I've heard so many positive feedbacks on them especially performance way beyond what can mechanical drives do. if the timing is right with the kind of budget i have, i definitely want to own one those.

I've never owned an SSD before so it would be my first time ever. An SSD would help reducing my boot time greatly since my Hitachi 7200rpm is so slow and it always take a while to boot. I will install a fresh windows onto the SSD and move all personal stuffs to the hitachi. It would be a huge upgrade for me and i always dream of owning an SSD but the price is too high for me at the moment.

I just built a system for myself after gaming on a laptop for about 2 years. All of the parts are pretty high end but I saved a little when it came to hard drives and that is now my bottleneck. I toyed with the idea of setting up RAID but it has such mixed reviews that I didn't bother with the hassle. SSD's on the other hand are universally praised and envied so it is a no-brainer but didn't fit my budget at the time of build. I would use this drive for the OS (Windows 7) to get boot times maximized and to run my favorite sim (iRacing) so I can be the first out on track every time. That can make a major difference when qualifying to get in clean laps without dealing with traffic and to get in as many laps per session as possible. I would love to have an SSD but I could never justify $150+ for a hard drive. Vista takes what seems like forever to load. I really wanted to try one. I have also wondered if a faster drive would make VMWare folding a bit faster or is all the data stored in the RAM? I never get the best/fastest equipment and have never won a contest before. I was thinking about maybe getting a 32GB SSD with this years tax return but it seems that 2 years of folding 24/7 has taken it's toll and I need a new one. I would not mind seeing an improvement in OS speed and maybe some games as well. Thanks for the great giveaways and such, makes being an EVGA member even better than just great service.

I'd use an SSD to improve my all round system performance. Right now my quad core seems limited by IO choked on data to crunch. With Windows 7 Ultimate loaded I'd set it up as a boot drive and to run World Warcraft on it to get the best loading times possible. I use a Windows Home Server for my mass storage so an SSD would be a perfect upgrade to my mainstream system.
