You'll have to wait until the auto notify button is active again which doesn't sound like it will be till early December

Will the Hydro Copper cards be sold only on EVGA's website, or will retail stores get them, too? I live reasonably close enough to the only Micro Center in Michigan. My two aging EVGA GTX 780 Dual Classified Hydro Coppers are aching to be retired; I'll take whatever buying option I can get...

Can we get some clarification on the actual temperatures to expect with this block? "27% improvement" doesn't mean anything really. I understand they don't want to give exact numbers as conditions change, rads, ambients, fans etc..
What's the initial temperature they're referencing? What unit of measurement? It all has an effect on the actual temperature drop. Let's assume they're going with say 70c baseline.
Celcius: 70-27% ends up at 51.5c Fahrenheit: 158-27% is 115.34F (46.3c) 5.2c variations isn't anything to dismiss as margin of error.
Kelvin: The only that should be used to work with percentages as it's an absolute, is clearly wrong lol. 343.15-27% is 250.49 (-22.6c)

I agree; a 'x% improvement' or 'x% cooler' is a useless benchmark. As you said, the scale and unit of measurement are vague and make it meaningless.

eg1122 One the corsair 680x the corsair aios will reach the bottom. I agree with the filter issue. I for one will have the gpu vertically mounted, but I have tested with a 2080 Super XC Ultra mounted directly to motherboard and tubes still reached.

Perfect. Glad you got it figured out. Just need to figure out which rad air flow orientation you'll be using. Again, I prefer intake on rads for cooler air versus exhaust but I would try both if you're not sure what you want to do. Don't forget to post a system shot here if you'd like. PowerEagle I hope to get either the XC3 3090 or Kingpin, I just hope; I really do hope that I can get one, I get an email notification claiming I can purchase one, I will be extremely discouraged if it fails this time around after what happened with the Nvidia disaster. Typically email notifications go out, you go to the link, whether it's right away or a few hours later, and it just says; sold out. I typically like buying EVGA graphics cards, cause they always bundle goodies, I remember one year; they bundled the nicest mouse pad, I still own it, I wish I could get another one from EVGA; it's really nice, I could hug EVGA just for that nice goodie I got with that graphic card that time around.
It should not fail. As stated by EVGA, you have 8 hours from the time you get the notification before you lose your reserve. It has worked for everyone who's done it so far. akguthal Hey all, new to the forums here. Was lucky enough to get in queues for both the XC3 and FTW3 hybrid cards. I'm so excited to finally get my hands on a 3080.
With that being said, can someone ELI5 the differences between these two hybrid cards performance-wise? From what I've read, it seems like the air-cooled FTW3's overclocking headroom isn't massive, so it may not be worth the price difference from the XC3 based purely on real world performance. Will there be a bigger difference with the water cooling variants, perhaps after flashing an OC bios?
The GPU has a beefier VRM section (FTW3) while the other is a reference GPU (XC3). If you're looking for every inch of performance, FTW3 is the answer unless of course you'd like the Kingpin, the king of the mountain if you will. The bonus of being a HYBRID is it increases the overclock potential. another-user so im on the invite list for one of the hybrids, and ive never had one before. im mainly interested in it from a noise standpoint. do the hybrids have the fanstop like the air cooled ones do?
The HYBRIDs usually stay at a low RPM when it's cooling isn't needed too much. I would not recommend stopping the fans completely while powered on.

QueueCumber Can someone enlighten me as to why watercooling would matter for anything but noise control with the 3090 chips?
To simultaneously get a cold GPU and a silent one is all that matters to me. I’ve had people say “My rig is quiet”. Then they tell me “It’s 35db”. Which to my sensitive ears is a jet airplane.

Fair enough. I will be watching and hoping it yields real performance differences. I would love to inch my card up higher in performance if it is possible. It doesn't run hot at all, so not sure this will be the fix, but hoping it will...

You are not very likely to see any performance gain with liquid cooling unless you are switching for a card with very poor thermal performance. EVGA coolers have always been pretty good, so that's not very likely. Water cooling should keep the GPU cooler with less noise, but overclock limits are usually from power limitations rather than cooling (unless you do extreme modding).

I've been through 2 generational upgrades to Hybrids now. The reason I would prefer to never go back to air is anecdotal, but I trust my lyin' eyes: steady temperature states. Not faster frames in spurts. The FPS meter just never flinches or spikes no matter how long I've been at it with hybrids, but my much longer history with traditional coolers has always been marked by spiky behavior. Hybrids just do a better job holding the same temp all day. Especially when doing a marathon session like an MMO Raid, which can be a whole day affair, and there is no room for a sudden performance variance if you need to do something split-second when it gets hectic playing main healer.

If it´s not removed I´m going to have to spray paint it with plastidip as I did with the red shield on my gainward phoenix 1080 GLH. My newely modded case with a custom loop is awaiting a new watercooled GPU to be complete...

You missed the 5 minutes that the "notify me" button was up for the cards they will be shipping in December. What's coming to December for the rest of us is the ability to join a que to get notified when they make more.

Avenger411 After looking at the clearance by having a front rad + fans on it, it’s going to be quite tight. Couple millimeters might be 1cm at most not sure. I also, might have to my setup around gpu on the front part might be the easiest but won’t look aesthetictly perfect sadly. God damn 680x that doesn’t have a 240mm rear exhaust :)
Might even go the custom rad/pump (ekwb) route since i’m on HC FTW3u notify aswell. Decisions, decisions.
Quoting you since you have the same case as I do. So I went to my local hardware store and found some plastic spacers there that are the same diameter as the spacers on the top glass of the 680x. I bought 4 and got some rubber washers as well. The screws to hold down the glass are m4.70 screws and I found some that are significantly longer. I will be using these things to extend the glass top on the 680x in order to mount the gpu rad on top in a push-pull configuration. Still not sure if I will do intake or exhaust.
