so looking at the recent activities, im going to change my prediction that i did. it goes like below

anyone who is in the queue for SKU 3888-KL, if the current rate ramined for the next years to come, out of the remaining people only 6 will get their respective card per year. which means i wil get my card in the year 2087.  in other words i will never get my card. meanwhile evga is dropping cards here and there in certain stores where you have to go to the store and do a physical transaction to get the card. each such card ignores the people who are waiting in the respestive queue (most of them are more than a year now). is that fair treatment?

Anyone ever get random red lights on their hybrid card?  Intermittently red lights will pop up above where the pcie cables plug into and the fans kick to 100% for like 5 sec, then it'll turn off and the fans go back to normal like nothing happened.  Card is still working fine and nothing seems to get interrupted.

anyone who got a 3080 hybrid none LED version in the last few months, what was the asking price from EVGA? it was 800$ when they initially listed but now i can see the same is going around the 2000$ in  on line stores ! (are they supporting the scalpers?)

So I got in on the diy 3080 XC3 hybrid 12gb... does anyone know if the ek vortex blocks for the 10gb will still fit the 12gb. I would think so but figured it's worth seeing if someone has already done it here.

how come the EVGA doing new product launches (12 GB versions of 3080) while they cant even meet the demand of 10 GB versions? are they going to piroratise 12GB over 10GB?

They make a lot more money from the 12gb version over the 10gb is the main reason I imagine.

NVIDIA launches the new products. EVGA is an AIB (add-in board) partner to NVIDIA. I have no idea the specifics of any contractual obligations EVGA might have to offer specific products, but I imagine it is possible that an agreement exists that EVGA will make products available for all varieties of 30 series GPUs. Even if it was not required it is obviously beneficial for EVGA to offer these products.

It is NVIDIA who sells the GPU chip and VRAM to EVGA. It is NVIDIA who decides how much of what GPU is produced based on their FAB allocation agreements with Samsung. It is very safe to assume that NVIDIA is going to heavily prioritize the 12GB version of the 3080 as their margin on that product is far greater than on the 10GB version. NVIDIA would like to make the money off these products vs providing that profit opportunity to scalpers and certain (cough cough newegg) retailers.

Hit EK up to confirm, but as the only difference is one 2gb vram chip, the kit would damn near have to work, esp considering the EK Sku handles the 3080 and the 3090 versions of the card.

Hi all

Is a hybrid / AIO card worth the additional cost assuming you had the choice with card availability?

Separately, is it only worth going for a hybrid if overclocking?

Thanks!

It really depends on you.

Even if you are not overclocking these cards have built-in boost features that are based on temps, so even without doing any manual overclocking you'll get a little more performance if your temps are lower.

But a hybrid is not automatically cooler than an air cooled card, it depends on how you setup your case and airflow.

so, as I predicted and most of you guys knew, EVGA will not deliver the people that are in the queue what they promised while dumping cards to the shops like micro center. mean while the next gen 4070 as of now leaked data shows that it owns any 3080 card by 30% more performances. so my plan is to get a 4070 and it will not of EVGA brand. fuk u trash company for constantly letting people in the queues  down and serving the scalpers by putting cards on to shops like micro center.
