The only thing i want to know. Does this high 75-78 Watts hovering damage my Mainboard over time or it is worth nothing and i can keep the card and thats it.

Ideally no, but not all motherboards are created equal. If you have supplemental PCIE power hooked into your motherboard you will likely be fine. If you have a cheaper motherboard without this supplemental power, then it could be an issue.

The one person that I know of (posted in this thread) who had a motherboard & 2080 Ti Black card fry due to high PCIE slot power draw (85W continuous) likely had a higher end motherboard (based on the fact that they bought a 2080 Ti) with supplemental power input, but I don't know that for sure.

> You can fix the trick. Set the memory to -502Mhz, it will lock the card to lowest gpu/ram freq value, and the card will idle like stock at 23°C for me in air.
I setuped AB to play my profil -502Mhz for 2D windows and 48% power draw for 3D.

Ya ok thanks, i got it but i think i cant keep this like that coz each time i need to change that setting each time i want do something need power, even watch movie lag and not work with 0 memory lol.

The thing is :  EVGA can provide a bios working for the rtx-3090 ftw3 ultra and why you think they not update the XOC bios since october last year ? Maybe they dont want you have the power of the Kingpin at lower cost and like this they keep selling the Kingpin.
Maybe later they will bring an update working as it should be for the ftw3 coz THEY CAN PROVIDE IT.
If they put a good bios for the ftw3 we wont need to change the memory or bios not made for the ftw3. Yup its kind of bad.

Had the 3090 Phantom GS but their aircooler sounds like a loud jet, besides that card works great and Software was ok also the powerbalancing, the 3090 FE but it had coilwhine as hell, a 3090 Suprim but dragon center to shut down only the rgb lights slows down the hole pc - powerbalancing was really good on these cards - only the FE has also great spikes up to 88 Watts on pcie. So all the cards where very similar on Port Royal and timespy and so on. I keep the FTW3 Ultra 3090 only because of 5 years warranty and it has the same fps in my games as all the other tested cards and needs "only" eg round 385 Watts instead of eg the msi which needs 420Watts for the same. I am at beginning a little bit scared about the pcie power draw "problem" but some spikes are normal and the 75 Watts are for each pcie Slot. So i think that doesnt matter too much. Another thing are the readouts of Hw info and gpu z. So i had a spike with 82.5 in gpuz and max in hwinfo was 80 Watt. Max Powerdraw was 457 Watt with normal oc bios while gaming testing in gpuz and max 430Watt in hw Info...i think the card is ok.

You are right. The 75 Watts are for each pcie slot. But that means, this particular slot gets overloaded. If it's fine for you, no problem. But for me, this is a no go. Especially when the 3rd 8 pin plug is only loaded with maximum 90 watts.

Again, I'm okay with you deciding to keep the card, but evga right now is in the process of RMA'ing my card for exactly this reason

Complete more tests.  XOC 400W avg, max peaks 430W.  PCIE problem max81W avg around 76W.  GPU Z have one big fat pwr perf limiter.  This is red lip version.

Seem like no way to solve pwr bottlenecks besides illegal 1000W bios.  Any more advice to try for better score?

You need to RMA it. You got the one with broken VRM. My first card had no issues hitting 500w but it died in 2 months. The one I got yesterday couldn't do more than 420  while pulling more power from slot than 3rd 8 pin. They approved the RMA in less than 24 hours no questions asked. There is nothing you can do about it without shunting this dud.

You got the one with broken VRM.

Do you have more detail about it?  I followed the thread but not remembering broken VRM problem.  Are you talking about power balancing problem?  PCIE drawing too much and force total power restriction?

For my 8 pin each is taking more than PCIE. 100W+ each.  But I see maybe 20W between high and low one.  EXAMPLE #1 120W #2 104W #3 125W PCIE 76W some thing like that.  I will gather information on all peaks soon for better detail.

Yeah I was talking about the power balance issues. Here is an example of bad card which must be returned https://forums.evga.com/FindPost/3214752

Thank you for linking.  Yes I remember this.  So it is a hard choice for me because the score not so bad (mid 14k so far from basic OC testing) even with power gimps.  If I reroll maybe the next one can reach 500W and solve pwr perf limit, but the score can still be worse.

Oh yeah if you are surpassing 14k it is a hard choice because many people I know can't even reach 14k

I have the ASRock X299 OC Formula with the Extra PCIe Power connected from the PSU to aid the PCIe, but my FTW3 Ultra is Stock with the Hybrid Kit, no mods no shunts nothing, still when it touches certain temp (60C+) benching clocks fluctuate with XC3 BIOS and same when it reaches certain Power draw. Still I saw people that even shunting have the same issue, I just hooked  that connector "just in case" nothing more.

Hi,
first time poster^^

I'm in a weird situation... My RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra has this power balance issue (Model 2014...).
When I use the stock OC BIOS the card will often pull up to 81 watt from the pcie connector.
My card really delivers, even when it's not exceeding 420 watts!
I was able to score 14180 in port royal with a custon voltage curve. The benchmark just flys through with 2040MHz and a memory offset of +720 at 0.956mv!!!
When I bench like that the card will never draw more than 430 watt in total and the pcie is at 77 watt max.

From all what I've read here that is kinda good - I'd love to see how this card would handle 500 watt but I'm scared to try the kingpin bios.

Before you try the Kingpin Bios, why don't you try the XOC Beta Bios first?

Looks like you got a good one. As far as I know all ftw3's pull over 75w from the slot. The main difference between the gimped and good ones is that bad cards are super power limited on 3rd 8pin. You should be doing very well with 500w bios.

Because that would't fix the power balance issue with my card. The XOC Bios would pull more than 75 watts from my pcie connector as well and I'm scared to blow up my system. Even the stock oc bios pulls 81 watt from the pcie slot if I oc without fixed voltage curve.

From my understanding it's the same deal with the KP Bios. Someone here mentioned 100w+ from the pcie slot😅

I wouldn't worry about anything below 100w. It won't blow up your 24 pin the majority of mobos are designed to handle 2 gpu's without aux power which is 100w+

But the slot itself and the traces to the slot are designed for 75w each. On my board I'm not worried about the 24 pin.

Well... I can be wrong but according to my observations and personal experience(2 difderent cards) every single ftw3 is like that. And yet I haven't seen a single report about blowing the slot while this forum is full of people complaining about cards being power limited for no reason or dying with red light of death and busted fuses.

The dying slot is probably something that occurs over month of (ab)use.

Testing 2 cards of course is not much compared to all the cards out there. It seems like, most of the cards are doing this, but I talked to a German guy on facebook that received one, that doesn't pull more than 70 watt. Downside is, he RMA'ed his card 3 times

I wonder if that's even legal in all countries.

I mean, we pay money for a product to get it replaced during warranty.

Well that card is a keeper👍👍👍👍

I hope you are planning on Watercooling. Looks like your gpu clock is limited by temp

Awesome EVGA support tells my RMA Question to basically f**** myself. I got told I should ask my Board manucaturer if its okay to draw more than 75W.
Sure. Producing a card thats out of spec and not getting to 500W and blaming no one.
On top of that: A friend bought a FTW3 and got a Chinese Version which has 73W Power draw and gets to 490W with the beta BIOS.
There is cleary something wrong here and EVGA refuses to do anything. The their policy is: Please give me 2000 bucks and f*** off.

My ftw3 ultra on the XOC 500w bios draw 83w on pcie when card pulling 485w when i watch a 4k movie.
On normal bios pcie  draw around 77w.
On 1000w bios at 52% slider pcie draw 91w when card draw 525w.
On 1000w bios at slider 100% card draw 688w and pcie was at 108w. This is the max i saw.

So more you give power to the card more the pcie go high. On my motherboard i have plug the 4pin molex to help pcie slot but i dont know if this really help in some way coz i cant check this.

The info of the pcie i write here is the max value recorded from gpuz.
