badass1982 Anyone concerned about the new boards allegedly having all poscaps?
do they? the screen I posted is probably not acurate as 3987 does not have all of them and should not have it. that would violate NVIDIA design and even ASUS admited that it was NO GO. here is picture of 3987 (I do expect that 3982 should follow same spec)
This is what my rev2 (3982) card looks like. The new designation is internal for these RMAs. Once the card ships they'll flip the model over to the standard model number so there's no discernable difference. My new serial starts with 2114 and was a sealed new unit on arrival. I still have a hard time coaxing more than 450w out of it (500w bios) but my old one was stopping around 400 so it's an improvement and I'm no longer pulling 82-85w off my PCI-E slot (now around 67). I've heard people having good luck with the kingpin 520 bios on these revision cards but I haven't gotten around to loading it yet.

Those of you who received your replacements, what is the revision printed on the PCIe lock tab? I've seen rev 0.0, 0.1, and 1.0 online. Are these a later rev than 1.0?

Also, are there any external differences on the card that you can see? Did your version either on the box shipment information or elsewhere state the v2 part number? According to my RMA shipment my serial number also starts with 2114. Thanks for your help!

Look back a page or 2 at my posts. I posted the newest BIOS version I had on my v1 card and the one that shipped with my v2 card. They were different... I can hit 500w just with the switch on the oc position now without an overclock in time spy extreme

FYI I requested to upgrade my shipping from ground to something faster since I'm in the east coast and they said once they receive your old card that changes can't be made. So for anyone wanting to get it faster request to change shipping before your card gets to them.

Thank you for pointing me to that page. The information that I am seeing for my replacement card is: Serial Number: 2114133xxxxxxxxx
Part Number: 24G-P5-3987-KR Description: EVGA GeForce RTX 3090 FTW3 ULTRA GAMING, 24G-P5-3987-KR, 24GB GDDR6X, iCX3 Technology, ARGB LED, Metal Backplate
Place Purchased: EVGA RMA Purchase Date*: 10/15/2020 Date Registered: 10/22/2020 12:06:28 PM So there seems to be some inconsistencies with what people are seeing on their accounts. As I mentioned before, the EVGA Customer Support I spoke with stated that there is only 1 part number and it is the "3987-KR" and that the " 3982-B2" is an internal part number. This doesn't give me a lot of confidence. I will see if I can get a clear answer from EVGA on this. I am concerned that I am going to get the same version of the card with the load issues. Thank you all, Jason

B* suffixes are typically used on B-stock/RMA cards. Cards that are sent in for step up or rma get checked and if they pass they get a new serial number and are put into the B stock or rma stock. Step ups are different and follow the card your stepping ups warranty but are new cards and carry the KR, A1 etc... codes and will say step up in the product page. The 3982 may just be a generic number sequence they are using for tracking cards that are rmaed and they are tracking the complaints with certain numbers. So 398 would designate 3090 and the 2 may be for power issues, but im just guessing on that. The info im seeing on my new step up card is exactly the same as yours only mine says step up not rma.

Naw, your good. They arent going to rma your card and not send you the newer unit, which theyve even stated to others. EVGa are pretty good about doing the right thing and one of the few companys ive witnessed go over and beyond for customers.

So mine definitely said 3982-B2 previously. Now it has the old card number. Hopefully it's still rev 2.0 PCB. That's the whole point.

10 year warranty?! How? I could only buy a 3 year extended on top of the initial 2. Not that I plan on keeping a card for more than 5 years, even this one.

Thank you for the explanation, this is very helpful. I think most folks are just looking for a strait forward way to determine what version of the card that they have. I will test as soon as I get my new card and post back the results. I did send the 3090OC@evga.com an email, asking for some clarification. We shall see what they come back with. Thank you again! -Jason

No idea. It was offered when I registered and I had caught wind of this thread and the other thread of the 3090s dying so I decided to get an extended warranty just in case. Figured it was worth $60.

The KR parts have a 3 year warranty for an original purchase from EVGA directly. You can purchase an extra 7 years (to make it a 10 year one) for products that cost over 500$ for 60$ I think. I did it because its a good deal. They also offer options to extend it to 5 years and 7 years too I believe which cost less than the 60$ and its cheaper depending on the cost of the product you are buying for. Also If you RMA a card the warranty that shows on your original card (the one thats sent back to them broken) applies to any rma replacements you are given (thats what EVGA told me anyway) https://www.evga.com/support/warranty/extended.asp

I just received a B Stock with serial beginning 2114. I've been watercooling for over 10 years and have always used EK, but after reading the blood bath on another thread ordered the Alphacool. Hopeful to join the 500w party in about a week and will run it on air until the block arrives. Any tips?

$30 more for 5 years more is a really good deal. I'm 100% certain that wasn't an option when I went to purchase the extended. Oh well.

Was this RMA done via the 3090OC email or was it a standard RMA? I ask because my hybrid card functions ok, but it won't go beyond 420w on the XOC bios and pcie is pulling about 80w not including the ~8w used by the 3.3v rails. So I'm wanting to RMA via the 3090oc email but from my understanding they are only doing the air cooled cards ATM.

Was this RMA done via the 3090OC email or was it a standard RMA? I ask because my card functions ok, but it won't go behind 420w on the XOC bios and pcie is pulling about 80w not including the ~8w used by the 3.3v rails.
Standard, but my unit was also out of spec for pcie as well (thought I didn't mention it in the RMA until they had already shipped it - no, they haven't commented on the subject, just sent the replacement)

Ah ok, this is actually my 3rd card. First one clocked great and could push it beyond 2100mhz with a temp under 55C but it died while gaming with stock settings on day 1. Second card had a failing pump. From day 1 I noticed temps were much higher than on original card. It would get up to 75c on games with stock settings. I repasted it and it did improve temps but not by much. Then started getting random black screens with fans at 100%. With this 3rd card I'm able to game at 50C or so @2025mhz, but I can't seem to be able to push it further due to pcie out of spec. I have tried many different OC settings and none are able to go beyond 420w. So I'm just waiting for them to add the hybrid to the special rma.

Howdy.
I have been following the EVGA RTX 3090 FTW3 Bios Issues on the forum, and I was wondering how safe would I be if I bought the 24G-P5-3987-KR.
Pretty much I intend to buy one but kinda 100% unsure, also something is I wouldn't be able to buy extended warranty since it is not a verified reseller from the list EVGA gives which kinda sucks? :/
So tl&dr either get a RTX 3090 FTW3 for 2799€ but sadly no extended warranty or a Asus RTX 3090 OC Strix for 2999€.
I always liked EVGA and I owned a EVGA GTX 950 FTW some years ago and it was a solid GPU although 160€ vs almost 17,5 times more for a RTX 3090, but given the current market circunstances and the RMA spaghetti situation for the past months on EVGA related to 3090's, it kinda worries me given the fact it's a huge investment.
And at this point I am kinda unsure of what to go for although I feel like giving the extra 200€ to avoid the potential RMA's which could cost more in the end. :/
Any suggestion or advice would be great.

Well I am using EVGA GK for a long time and always it was great experience. 3090 is an exception but EVGA is doing their best to remediate any problem which may happen. That was the main reason why I have bought it. Although I am in the process of RMA (PCIE power exceeds 75W) I have faith that EVGA will do their best to help me out. Now just get that approval :-) kind regards Tomas EDIT: although I was bit angry that none publicly admitted that there is an issue, at least they started 3090OC program to replace faulty cards.
