Thumbs up, interesting I hit same timespy graphic score but it only draws 380 watts during the test..

For some reason or another these cards can't crash in gaming when you are overclocked..... They can't handle the power phase switching. I think it has something to do with the ****ty up9511 voltage controller.... Almost all other cards have up9512 which is wayyyyy better, has way higher frequency range. I'm really annoyed I have to downlock my card to 2115 to 2130 to stay stable in games. Keep in mind my max temps are 36 to 41c gaming on my water block

Again the voltage controller is not it. Otherwise other cards that don't feature it wouldn't have exactly the same symptoms. Same thing can happen on Kingpin or some strix cards, as well as handful of gigabyte. Probably the boost clocks are just the silicon lottery, however you want to turn it. I can have 2130+ stable in games without any issues, while somebody else can't, same goes for CPU's somebody can have much better bin and push much higher clocks on the same cpu..

Here's the bios to convert the card to a Hybrid card so the fans curve are correct and it shows up correct in X1. https://forums.evga.com/FindPost/3178112

I doubt the cards with up9512 are set to switch at a higher frequency, even if they are capable of it. edit: I mean i have a FTW3 too and im game stable at 2160-2175, as dude said before, its probably just your chip thats limiting you.

At 4K in RDR2, I'm stable at 2,085mhz 1.081V - 2,100mhz 1.1V, 400W-420W. That's a TOUGH load for non-RTX, so much that the prevailing opinion online is that you can't run RDR2 with an OC. Like +90 core, +600 mem usually at about 55C, hybrid.

Jaz11 Count yourself lucky. Mine won't draw over 390w on the 450w bios. It's ****ed
U need to get ur card colder or a waterblock. Otherwise u won't draw as much. I'm sitting at 36 to 44 max temps..... With my loop and block. 2130 to 2160 in games.... Port royal 2190 is max stable.... Timespy 2175 if I keep it under 33c.... Before I had under water max game clocks were 2085 to 2055 if I was lucky....under 60c
Umm, nope. My card is cold AF. 8-10 Celsius actually, 30-35 under full load and its not pulling more on Timespy than 398W with 1,1V and clocks set to 160 on the GPU and 1250 on the VRAM. BIOS is installed, tried both switch positions, rebooted etc. nothing works for me. What is wrong with this card ? What load do i have to put on it ? I think the BIOS is not giving me **** as the 398W are no matter if i push the Voltage to 1.1V or leave it at standard 1.063 or with the VRAM at 0 OC. Anyone have an idea what i could do ? Is it the Card ? Is it the BIOS ? EDIT: Forget what i said. I downloaded the BIOS again, reflashed, shut down the PC, flipped the switch twice and now its working. I don't know where i messed up...argh.

Hey. Since you say it's working are you now drawing full power limit?
I have flashed the bios twice and shut down to flip the of switch off. Booted up in non of. Shut down and flipped back to OC switch but still the same
Did you do anything different? What else should I try?

Hey, yes it seems to be working as intended, drawing447-449W from the Wall. I re-downloaded the file, unpacked it, ran it as administrator. I am unsure if i was in the Standard BIOS Switch position when i flashed the new OC BIOS to the OC Position or in which position it was. Maybe check that as well. Flash it to the one that is active or to the one that is inactive is the only thing that comes to my mind that you could try further. Jaz11 hmm just tried this twice and didnt fix for me. still hitting 380-390w and saying power limit :(
You're Watercooling as well ? I used Water with 8-10 degrees Celsius and TimeSpy as Benchmark. I am not sure if you can even pull that much if you're air cooling as with high heat load it might pull back on the Voltage ?

Hmmm I didnt run it as administrator but I made sure to extract it. Made sure nothing was running in background both times. Yeh I checked the switch is on the OC bios with it flicked closest to io ports .
Yeh under waterblock as well. GPU temps in the 40s. Still won't draw over 390w :(
Not sure what else I can do.
The bios has definitely applied because gpuz says my power limit is 450w...

Ah ok, my Card didn't apply the BIOS at first even though it said so, i couldn't set the Powerlimit in X1 to 118%. Can you set it to 118% ? Then it should be good to go. Also you might check your cabling if you are using piggybacked cables or do you have three dedicated power cables ?

Been talking to some guys with 3090 ftw3.... seems you can flash xc3 3090 bios on the 3090 ftw3....and it actually gives more power 370+150..... And they are scoring 5% higher performance because of it.... Does anyone have any thoughts on doing the xc3 bios on a 3080 ftw3??? I'm so willing to try it....

So I have a 3080 FTW3 Ultra Hybrid coming tomorrow and am looking for advice on what to do with this BIOS business. I'll be using my own fan curve so I'll probably just be downloading the "Normal" XOC BIOS and flashing the OC position on the card. (keeping the normal position as my fail safe stock/default option) I imagine I should install the card and let PX1 update the firmware. Then do some stock benchmarking (portal royal and time spy) for baseline data so I can see what kind of gains I'm actually getting. Then what would some of you recommend? Flash the Normal "EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 HYBRID" BIOS from OP? Or just the Normal "EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 ULTRA" BIOS? Or nothing and maybe just wait for the next BIOS revision? (maybe even the one that will include BAR support or higher power limit) Thanks in advance I appreciate any insight, I've thought about this and read soooooo many pages and still am not sure what is the "best". <3 EDIT: IT CAME AND SO DID I. I ended up flashing the XOC Hybrid BIOS to the OC position. I think it's running as expected and I am the happy. :D

It's not. You can see he's capped at 430w and 3rd pcie pin is not drawing much, same issue as the 3090s that has been posted before many times. Evga needs to address this already, they said update in "a few weeks" back in February.

Bcassiman Got 4th place out of 40k results in Timespy for the 5600x/3080 combo globally with this bios. I did convert to a hybrid though.
So you converted to Hybrid and use XOC Hybrid bios? I have FTW3 Ultra with XOC 450w bios but also capped at 400W still as many. I ran Kombustor for half an hour and see average 395W draw. PICE: 47W, 8-pin1: 129W, 8-pin2: 148W, 8-pin3: 70W. Constantly GPU-Z tells me powerlimit PerfCap reason. So is this low 8-pin3 power due to the card or due to the bios? Or is is possible PSU related? I have Fractal Design 860w platinum.

Since I am still toying with my hybrid card and seeing OC potential I spent some time today and was able to get over 118% TDP and the 450W. Probably somehow the perfect storm. I was just running MSI Kombustor using the (GL) msi-01 (burn-in mode) Stress test. It wasn't stable at these speeds but got the juice it needed. Made in Taiwan serial starting with 2114 using "EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 HYBRID - BIOS 1 (Normal)" from OP. Just put +699 on the mem and +180 on the core, voltage/power sliders maxed out. Oh and 100% fans.. not sure if that mattered somehow. (maybe could have turned off the lights for more juice?) Oh well ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ since the hardware looks capable hopefully more XOC bios tweaks can do something although this issue sounds more hardware related. Board Power Draw: 451.5W PCIe Slot Power: 58.5W 8-Pin #1 Power: 143.4W 8-Pin #2 Power: 154.0W 8-Pin #3 Power: 96.8W Power Consumption (%): 118.8 TDP

well this is my first EVGA card and most likely last. People here on the forum are excellent and helpful, but EVGA as a company lack a proper communication. There is no update for almost 6months now, I am happy that Jacob is playing DOOM Eternal but maybe provide an update here? Cards were NOT cheap and some update like: "We are working on it, ETA 3weeks" or anything like that would be nice.
