So the msi bios is a lot more stable on lower high end. But once u hit top, throttles card a lot lower to keep stability. All I can say is, I hope evga fixes the issue with load balancing and power management on this card. And it was called a beta bios for a reason. I really hope they improve it. Otherwise you have to shunt the card and pcie slot power. I was able to clock to 2205 to 2190 in port royal and timespy I got 2160 to 2145 then down to 2130 and even 2115.... But 20 watts more isn't getting u much on the evga bios

Pointless buying the evga ftw3, two pin cards are just as good. My first and last Evga product, It appears my card has degraded due to heat I can't get the scores that I used to on port royal, I'm about 1000 points down, my card sometimes hit 90c while gaming,

421w is the point where I get diminishing returns, 2160 is my Silicone lottery limit 2175 is usually crash point for this one.
FTW3 Hybrid, 12782 PR 12800 Is out of reach now matter how much power I try to give it it starts going in the other direction and the score is 12560 to 540
I do have a couple nice undervolts that are only 2 -3 Frames less than default power (380w) and only pulls 260W

I hit 13063 PR lol.... Consistently over 13000.... 2190 mhz and +1125 memory

I just want someone to get a 100% way to power mod this card, with out drawing a ton of power from pcie slot. Honestly 600 to 800 watts would be awesome on this thing.

I tried the suprim bios a bit, i noticed power probably werent reporting accurately? For example i tried mining, 96 mh/s reported 137watts (normally 220w)in the miner, and while running port royal, it was hovering around 300-350watts, cruising at 2190mhz. Its like its shuntmodding itself?

Not thermal throttling, power throttling -_-

If you're already hitting 447w and the voltage is staying at near max then it may not be much different.
This is more for those of us who can't get past 420ish watts without the card pulling core voltage pack and power limiting.

Go back like 3ish pages and look.

I don't see anything About a bios. I kinda have a baby in one hand just give me a link to the bios and I'll report back as soon as I put my daughter to bed in 10 mins

Be glad you can even hit that. Mine won't draw over 390w max on the 450w bios

For some reason the XOC bios doesn't even work for me. I switched to OC bios and installed it the way it says on the main page here, I checked GPU-Z, set power limit to max in MSI or X1 and run Unigine Heaven, the power is just stuck at 330 or so no matter what I do. Using Corsair HX1000i with 3 separate cables (not daisy chain)

Any idea what could be causing this? I hope the card isn't broken because it has 0 coil whine even at very high FPS.

You did reboot the pc after the bios flash right? Also, Heaven isn't a good bench for power, it doesn't pull that much (its good for stability tho). Try something else, like Timespy or port royal.

At least Jacob did aknowledged this issue right? I saw someone posted a screengrab of a tweet of his saying they're looking into it, and to "stay tuned"...

So, is the OC switch anything more than a Fan curve?

I don't think it's anything but a fan curve until you put the Beta Bios on the card.

@Scorpio

If you read my original post, I say one of the downsides is incorrect power reporting. Can't say for sure that's the only thing that's changed, but it's drastically reduced the frequency of me hitting power limit in regular gaming loads.

At some point I'd like to get a PCAT or external shunt to work out the actual current draw difference.

has anyone successfully shunt modded this card? i got some 5mohm resistors on the way. I am stuck in my overclocking adventure and need more  power to go further.

@EVGA_JacobF

Please advise, which version should i use if i've converted my 3080 FTW3 Ultra to full water loop (used EKWB waterblock).
Now i use the XOC 450W version (Normal\OC)

Thank you in advance,
Sergey

I would use this EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 HYBRID. If you want to control pump from card. But since you have custom loop. You are good with standard bios.

There is definitely a serious issue with this card. You really have to try to get it to draw 450w.... Evga screwed up something on this card. There is no way you are going to actually get 118% power draw... I get small spikes in 440w but that's it. I don't think it's real at all...

Same here. I sometimes get spikes to 440W but it's not stable at all. Mostly around 415 or so and then goes to 400 as well. No idea what's wrong with this card.

It's got to do with pcie slot and the way the power is balanced on this card. All ftw3 cards have this issue. They won't address it either. Why buy this card over the cheaper one with 2 8pins. Total marketing bs.

How can I control the pump? I don't see any options in PX1.

Lol try redownloading the px1 program and reinstall. It should do an update on ur card after u flash the new bios. Or u could just get a full cover waterblock and make ur own aio system... With a 360 rad and a ddc pump.... Liquid metal reallllly helps these cards clock higher on water. U can expect 5 to 7c difference... And that's enough for a boost bin or 2...

There's another dude who recommended the msi suprim x bios. It's 430w... But it's a lot more stable than the evga beta bios.

U need to get ur card colder or a waterblock. Otherwise u won't draw as much. I'm sitting at 36 to 44 max temps..... With my loop and block. 2130 to 2160 in games.... Port royal 2190 is max stable.... Timespy 2175 if I keep it under 33c.... Before I had under water max game clocks were 2085 to 2055 if I was lucky....under 60c

This only shows it's not really just about power draw, it's also about bin and silicon lottery, for example my card has power balance issues and is usually around 405w avg on 118% and I have stock air cooling, and I am boosting to 2130 sustained with +135 on gpu in Warzone, 3dmark and games etc.. The card in games is at 50 degrees.. and only drawing around 300+w.

How are you even flashing this BIOS and where do I get it. I got a problem with my card hitting 200% power on boot randomly and no solution from EVGA, MSI (my Z270 mobo for win 7 support is a joke), I'm about to RMA my 3090 FTW XC Ultra 24GB at this point. I checked my PSU, took all my other software off temporarily, removed anything with power I didn't need. Nothings working.

I think my first BIOS update failed since I didn't see it coming and I was using Windows 7 at the time. I have ran it on 10, same issue.

Someone mind pointing me in the right direction? Anyone ever hear or see anything like this?

If I don't get this issues while booting up, i can stress test it or benchmark it to hell and back fine...but when i do, if I don't shut down, windows will.
