Yep, sooner you order, the higher up on the pre-order list you'll be, and of course the faster you'll get them :)

Lots of backorders coming in though, please be patient. We've been working around the clock to finish the Classy and ACX and tried to have plenty at launch but demand is a lot :)

Good stuff, just another question. Are the backplates going to be available in the next 24 hours? Just want to make it one order because the shipping is a fair bit due to being in Australia.

Oh lots more than 5 were made.

BPs will hopefully be available to order by the end of the week... want to make sure we have enough as some of you have pointed out ;)

Any idea if orders will be sent as stock comes in, or if any orders placed now will wait until Monday?

In any case I already ordered - more than happy to put the money down and walk away for a few days, but if you guys can make weekend magic happen... I wouldn't hate you for it.

Gorgeous block btw... I have always been anti nickle-plating right up until today when I ordered one.

Fingers crossed my order ships in time to get to Canada by Friday! I even removed the vardars for now to avoid delay.

I ordered 2 of the nickel ones while they weren't out of stock yet, and took 1-day shipping.
Do you guys think you'll get the orders processed quickly enough for the weekend?
I'm in Belgium, so the 1-day shipping is usually actually 1 day.

When I ordered my 680 block when they went EOL, I ordered it at 9pm my time and it was shipped at 9am the next morning. They seem excellent at getting orders out if stock is there.

Yeah, I've had excellent experiences with their processing times in the past, but I just figure they might be in a bit of a rush considering they just sold however many of the Classy blocks they made in a little under an hour.

Do you mean like a bigger order will be sent out sooner? If so that makes me wanna stick the fans back into my order!

Also, the 970 GTX ACX blocks just came back in stock. So it looks like they're crankin' em out as we speak!

Did I get the following correct?!
  • On the store page you claim them to be "In stock!"
  • People who want the blocks before upcoming weekend order them with express shipping
  • The truth is they will be shipped later and the order is basically equal to a pre-order (although marked as "In stock!")
  • -> People wont have those blocks before the upcoming weekend even though they were ordered for that purpose with express shipping
  • After some point and a lot of orders you maybe realized its too many orders and mark them as:No stock!
To sum it up: For us customers, everything remained the same. The only difference is that you have a lot of pre-orders (and money) now and can start the production but although they were ordered from "In stock!" today none of them got packed nor shipped...

Did anyone here who ordered one early today get a shipping confirmation yet?!

That sounds like a bit of a conspiracy theory, there.
You are really set on hating EK, aren't you? xD

Anyway, I ordered them as soon as they came up for sale today, but iirc it was already about 3pm in Slovenia by the time they went up on the website, so I honestly wouldn't expect a shipping confirmation yet.
I'll update when I do get a shipping confirmation, which I'd expect to be tomorrow or the day after.

Nobody will have shipping confirmations today. Our B2C department is small and by the time the blocks were launched, everyone had gone home :)

Despite the theories, blocks for the first people who got their orders in will be shipped tomorrow. If you're in Europe and got an order in before stock ran out, you may have your blocks by Friday.

I do believe they weren't made available until 3-4pm Slovenia, not leaving them much time to ship today. I also think Derick meant pre-order as in order now, and it'll be sent when it's available which it will be daily, meaning tomorrow.

We'll see tomorrow though for sure.

How about those of us that ordered 20 minutes after stock was gone? Any shot at them being sent tomorrow? I'm assuming yes since stock is being made now?

By Pre-Order I indeed mean "place an order" and it will be placed on backorder. The blocks are 100% designed, they have been manufactured and assembled for several days now to get a decent amount of stock for launch (I don't think some people realize how many people have already ordered and depleted our on hand stock) and all that is left now is to fill the backorders.

Blocks are still being produced and will be daily. Unofficially, I'll say that there's a good chance that if you placed an order 20min after they were gone that your order will be fulfilled; but officially, I do not have the production schedule in front of me nor do I know what place in line anyone is in so I cannot guarantee anything.

Backplates are also in the process of being packed, but may cause a slight delay for orders.

Re: EVGA GTX 980 Classified waterblocks 2015/02/18 11:26:02 (permalink)
Please don't get me wrong, I said it earlier, I think EK is a very talented company with products of high quality and reliability.

I just disagree with their way of doing public relations and treatment of customers.

Delays can happen and there might be good reasons for that, but its still possible in such situations to give clear and faithful instead of childish and vague statements.

For sure there are some fanboys that are happy with a picture of the block itself and which are also happy to F5 their page every 5 minutes. However there are also others that cannot do so all day long for multiple weeks.
And please also don't forget there are other companies which also suffer. They are rare but they also exist: local retail stores. Not everyone who wants to have water-cooling does realize it by himself. There are orders from people who ordered a water-cooled classified card for their PC at local retail stores and been waiting for a very long time now. What does the owner of that rare store tell them?! Should he print the FB-picture of the water-block and say: "look that is how it will look like in uhm... no idea when it will be done. They said 2014 initially then it was mid-January or late-January and now its still not clear when exactly.". Do you really think the customer of a local store owner does care about content of this forum or even a FB post?! I do know such a store owner who has these problems. His customers already pre-paid 50% of the hardware costs 2 months ago and can't make any use of their 980 Classy yet; that store owner now has problems, big problems since the customer is angry (very angry) AT HIM.
I am just thinking a little bit out of the box of this forum here...

I just hope someone at EK does care about such stuff and it will be better in future. Delays are alright but good communication is important and better than unrealistic statements. Better plan in more time than needed if issues occur, then people will be happy if its done earlier than they thought. Its a matter of psychology. One single time good news make happier than four times bad news in a row.

Please keep that in mind for the future!

Agreed with everything that you said. I was peeved this morning when the blocks sold out in like 10 minutes. EK should have anticipated this and prepared more blocks than what they offered.
