Still using a Modified SS Phase Change on the CPU and Chilled (possibly sub-zero later) Water Cooling on the Graphics. I've really not gone into LN2 Cooling, Although I have tried experimenting with DICE one or two times using one of Vince's LN2 Pots and managed to drop an X79 i7-4930K down to -62.5C, But then it takes a lot of "fine tuning" to maintain the right temps initially for the CPU to BOOT first, Followed by fairly constant re-filling of the Pot to maintain optimum temps to operate at the OC you want. I Think since I've gotten Older (and Lazier), it's easier for me to just flip a few switches on for the SS and Chiller and Sit Back and make Bios/software adjustments on my EVBot! LOL

Sorry, I should have been more specific :) I am only interesting in max, stable gaming OC. I currently have a Gigabyte G1 970 and I am sitting stable at 1560mhz core and 7900mhz mem in game with boost. My temps never go over 72C. That being said, I ordered a EVGA Classy 980 to get a tad more performance but haven't seen any air results on what I can hit stable for core and mem. I am not interested in liquid nitrogen and other crazy stuff to get a decent OC :)

I'm game-stable at 1493MHz which is a +63 OC. Temps on the top card are flirting with 70C. However, I'm running SLI, and if you'll be running a single card, your stable OC should be higher. Hope this helps. I haven't tried a memory OC yet, I don't have much time to mess around these days...

+107 clock, +500 memory, stock voltage, stock fan curve. This is super stable and I think could have been out of the box clock, Bios 2 with more aggressive fan curve perhaps the best if using these settings 24/7. (btw, the curve just mildly different from stock) +117 clock, + 500 memory, stock voltage, that's pushing things a bit as requires more aggressive fan curve. +130 clock, +500 memory, not very stable during benchmarking, card gets hot pretty quickly. For whatever reason with KBoost engaged just bumping clock to +130 causes white screen of death, w/o kboost it works and can even make through firestrike demo and test although may dial clock a bit during demo when heating up.

I ran a Fire Strike Bench on my Classifieds in 2-Way SLI on water cooling and got 1615MHz GPU/ 2008MHz Memory at 1.2430 Vcore. You stated your Gigabyte G1 970 is running at 1560MHz/7900MHz, But at what Vcore are you at with those readings while Gaming and have you done any Benching at those settings?

I'm terrible at OCing but Precision X says ~1.2V. My airflow sucks too, especially for SLI. I was just offering a baseline, minimum so to speak. My numbers are in no way indicative of the majority.

For the same price, two 970 G1s totally kill this card in temps, performance and value. I've tested over a dozen 970s and 980s in the past two months. G1s FTW.. sorry EVGA :(

I just installed one of my 980 Classies and played a little with OC's and Firestrike. I may not have won the silicone lottery on the chip but my memory isn't bad at all ;) My ASIC is 71.7 Scores are on Air for now -- waiting on EK Blocks. Stock Boost is 1430 out of the box with K-Boost Enabled. Max OC on Stock Voltage -- Core +120 = 1550 / Memory +890 = 4396 Max OC on +87mV (via MSI AB)-- Core +130 = 1585 / Memory +900 = 4406 Firestrike Run -- http://www.3dmark.com/fs/3241430 Firestrike Extreme Run -- http://www.3dmark.com/fs/3241524 I will test my second card soon and let you know the results :)

I can also report that ALL my settings above are Game Stable. I have been gaming for 6 hours straight without a problem :) I can tell a difference between the 980 and the 780 Ti as far as "feel" in the game - smoother but yet just as fast reaction times as well if not a bit faster in FPS. Very Happy I tried these 980 Classifieds

Great gains, is that on your Dimastech Bench Table or in PC case. At clock +130 what was your max temperature during Firestrike Demo (it's usually at the end).

Here are my results. +87 mV, power limit 125%, +135 Core, +550 Memory. ASIC 66.1 Couldn't get my memory to go up any higher. I tried using EVGA precision X and couldn't get anything stable above 105 on the core or memory. I don't know whats going on there especially since I prefer precision more, but it's stable in Afterburner. Our scores are almost 1000 points difference difference :(.

My rig is still on my Dimastech. I didn't run the Demo because I have the Advanced Edition. I did just run it for you though and my max temp with fans @100% was 61C with ambient temp @22C

I like the look of Precision X too but the newer versions have bugs. Here is a link to the some of the older versions you can download from. I would go with version 4.2.1 http://forums.evga.com/EVGA-PrecisionX-Older-Versions-Available-Here-m2227542.aspx I usually just use AB now to make sure the bugs don't bite me :)

WhiteDragon_ I just installed one of my 980 Classies and played a little with OC's and Firestrike. I may not have won the silicone lottery on the chip but my memory isn't bad at all ;) My ASIC is 71.7 Scores are on Air for now -- waiting on EK Blocks. Stock Boost is 1430 out of the box with K-Boost Enabled. Max OC on Stock Voltage -- Core +120 = 1550 / Memory +890 = 4396 Max OC on +87mV (via MSI AB)-- Core +130 = 1585 / Memory +900 = 4406 Firestrike Run -- http://www.3dmark.com/fs/3241430
Firestrike Extreme Run -- http://www.3dmark.com/fs/3241524
I will test my second card soon and let you know the results :)
That's excellent! I'm really curious to see what difference there will be once you throw in a second one.

Thanks a bunch, I've noticed that with +130 OC it becomes quite unstable when going over 65C and not every run passes, demo in free edition stresses/heats it up pretty well, so keeping it cool inside the case to pass that before the actual run can be a challenge, seems like with open air bench this is not a problem for you, 61C is the max temp mine is reaching at +117, +500 mem on stock voltage. At that level it is stable as a rock. My ASIC is 70.9%. BTW, do you have KBoost on while benching? My run at +117 http://www.3dmark.com/fs/3174467 does seems within a nose with yours (13970) but that's most likely because of CPU. Run at +130 http://www.3dmark.com/fs/3133593 (13999), seems like extra clock step is not worth it as far as performance concerned, but instability is much greater and some artifacts can pop up when it goes into 65C range.

In my infinite wisdom I forgot to change the BIOS setting from "Normal." I should be getting better OCs now...

Unless you flash it out of the box they are the same except slightly different fan profile. GTX 980 Classified Triple BIOS

Gotcha. I did notice the fan profile and it helps at idle. If I only plan on OCing on air and my goal is game-stable clocks, is it worth flashing the BIOS?
