Looks good, but this is not the modular AiO wattercooling system from the CES, right? When we are going to see more about this modular stuff?

Update New Driver Version 2.0.2
EVGA Flow Control 2.0.2

Fixed Check Updates!
Still no change for Fan Curves!! Loud noise fans so I set to manual from auto and change low speed less quiet noise!!! That in the Fan Curve white dot set 100 speed/ 60c not move yet!! We don't need fast full speed at 100% for 60 c really annoying with noise!!!!

I am looking at getting the EVGA CLC 120 but the problem is i have only 1 USB 2.0 header and i also have a fan controller that uses the USB 2.0 header made by lamptron. What should i do?

If i use the EVGA CLC without the USB 2.0 what color is the led and will it still work ?

You have a few header options.

1. you can get a header USB hub - I did this as it adds more USB2 ports not just the 2 on the header.
https://www.nzxt.com/products/internal-usb-hub
got mine from Amazon

2. A micro USB cable to regular USB plug then just plug into any open USB socket

3. The docs say you can set up and disconnect the USB link to the pump ( you will lose the monitor option of speed.
(we need more feedback on this option and what happens with LED settings? )

4. you could build a half header at that will give you back one USB-2 and the other goes to the pump

new software:

1. Device name fix   -- now (CLC)  lol -- ok as an old school programmer - I'll give you that one.
( we called that type of fix - THE SOCK - ie the bilge alarm keeps going off -- well stuff a sock in it )

2. TBD still checking it out

note:
I do not get high speed 100 % fan as reported above  -it seems to follow the curve.
pump speed seems a bit slower than I remember setting it but i did delete old setting so still testing.
I had a problem before getting the MIDDLE LED light color to work was always the top or bottom one ?

I still do not like seeing a graph with the axis having no label
ie fan curve : one axis is fan speed in percent the other is temperature    ( TEMPERATURE of WHAT ) water or CPU
or does it switch depending on how we set the LED colors.

I have not used the EVGA software at all. LED color is white by default. I have pump and both fans plugged into motherboard - with motherboard I can set the fan curve for the fans (I replaced EVGA fans with PWM fans btw), and I plugged the pump into a always-100%-power plug. I believe the pump runs 100% by default? (see edit below). Everything is working great.

Alternatively, I believe you can install software, change the LED, pump and fan curves to how you like it, then uninstall the software and the USB plug - the pump pcb retains the settings in its own little bios I believe.

Either way, you free up the USB. :)

edit: from AIDA64 I can see pump speed - under full load it climbed up to 3050rpm with highest core at 56°C, then dropped to about 2750rpm when I turned stress test off - so the default without using software appears to have some sort of curve on the pump speed as well, but not sure if that is maximum rpm or not. The pump is plugged in to a motherboard port which supplies 100% power the whole time, so it is not a motherboard fan controller doing this.

I've been using the CLC 280 for a few weeks now and so far it's been pretty good, even though it seems like my 7700k chip runs hotter than average. I'm hitting as much as 93°c at 1.33v which is only giving me a stable 4.8Ghz. Hence in an effort to lower the temps a bit I want to try to replace the stock fans with some noctua NF-A14 iPPC fans. Question is would I be able to connect those fans directly to the pump and use the EVGA sofware to control them? Would it even lower the temps by any significant amount?

the EVGA software has a slider for pump manual control and fan manual control and when you put in AUTO position
only the fan speed is controlled by the fan curve.

early version of the software had a LINK connection of the slider controls but was removed in later software.
I guess as it was better to keep pump speed the same speed all the time. ?

The default curve is ok but some small software problem won't let me save my settings

flow control software
Work around for some problems.
--
1. do not click in general setting start with OS
2. do not click in general settings start minimized
3. after system boot and app is started click the BLUE AUTO off then click back on again .
this makes my fan speed go slower and seems to then follow the fan curve.
-
doing Number 1 : I do not get the sharing error on start and a later APP crash later if you right click on the top left of the screen.
The Software i think is leaving some invisiable modal box on the screen because of the error. Clicking there makes the cooling software crash and then restart.
All seems to work after the App crash and restart. (Windows event viewer will have a crash error log )
--
doing Number 2 : will let you fix the high speed fan at start up after doing number 3.
The fan may still go fast when you shut down for a few seconds.
--
Doing Number 3 : seems to kick the software out of a stuck default mode
--
With auto OFF  : set the manual pump speed to a value you like ( some say to just set 100% )
and the fan speed to some value you can just hear.
----------------------
A. I still can not get the middle LED color selection to ligh up even if CPU temperature is in that range.

Re: EVGA CLC 120/280 Liquid CPU Coolers 2017/04/18 05:18:24 (permalink)
Hi guys!

Just today I instal my new CLC 280, looks amazing but is my first AIO cooling kit and I have some doubts...

I have put it on the CPU1 connector which is set to bios as PWM, is this correct?
After install the Flow Control 2.02 I only lowered the pump rpm, since it was working to the maximum. I have put it to the minimum (1920 rpm), what is the correct configuration?

The iddle temp is 23ºC with fans in 1100 rpm, what do you think?

Thanks for the help!

Edit: Why the fans rpm change when with the flow control closed you open HWMonitor!?
I really do not understand this. With de CPU1 in DC mode, the flow control fan rpm indicator not working, and the pump min.-max. rpm  ratio are 1350-2100, but in PWM mode and with the Flow Control open the fans are noisier (min. 1000 rpm) and the pump allow a 1950-3000 rpm ratio.

Re: EVGA CLC 120/280 Liquid CPU Coolers 2017/04/18 22:42:49 (permalink)
I had mine in CPU-2 PWM when I first got the unit and it worked.
MB bios was using a curve to output PWM to CPU-2 header
and it SEEMS like the power supply in the pump was a happy with that.
----
I later changed to DC only using Power fan header. Unit still worked about the same.
As I posted above :  You can manual set either pump or fan if you turn off AUTO
I see the speeds posted in the graph for both change as I move the slider.
I put it back to AUTO and pump is set at a fixed RPM and fans follow the water temperature fan curve.

I see a bug if you auto start the app in windows 10 on system start
so test by starting cooling APP after you boot.

I still get 3 different FAN speed RPM
--
one speed after starting the APP
two after clicking AUTO off
and a third after clicking AUTO back one
-- This is not normal to have 3 states in a 2 state switch.

SO each time you boot the software CLICK auto off then on and things work better.
------------
I have to do almost the same thing with Precision XOC to get that software to read my setting file ?

The hardware is FIRST class and cools well - software ( has room for improvement )

Okay have the clc 280mm installed and there is no  CPU temp at all.
Tried uninstalling and reinstalling after removing all files x86 included.
Tried changing the cpu in bios to pwm nothing.
All so I have no number at all next too clc it is blank.
I can change fan speed and very little pump speed and change color of rgb.
I have noticed that the AMD Ryzen Master temp is about 13 degrees higher than the coolant temp flow control is showing.
PLZ help!

I have to say that I am not using the software, I have it installed and I used it to change the lights and adjust the speed of the pump, But I keep it closed. With it open, the fans are louder and I can not adjust them. I have it connected to cpu1 header with PWM profile "standard", and so will remain until it "FC" is more stable.

During a stress test of 25 minutes the stable and max temperature were 51ºC, whit very quiet fans and 2000 rpm in the pump. Otherwise playing a long time at Watch Dogs 2 the average and maximum temperature is the same as with my old EVO 212, (40-46º avg. 51º max.) But with much performance even without using.

I have a stock 6700k in a Maximus Hero VIII and was waiting to install the CLC to make it OC, but for the moment I will wait for the Flow Control work better.

My motherboard is an ASUS ROG Maximus XI Hero, it has headers for an AIO pump, a CPU main fan and a CPU optional fan. If I plug the fans into CPU main and optional, and the plug from the block into the AIO pump header, will the motherboard actually see the pump and control/monitor it?

Exactly what I do - same motherboard. Yes you can use the motherboard Q-fan controller to set fan curve (CPU fan and CPU opt share the same curve). The CPU pump header runs at 100% 24/7. The pump itself has its own BIOS though and does vary speed by itself based on temperature by default (if you run the CPU on full load and monitor pump speed with some software like AIDA64, you can see the pump speed increase as the temp increases). I have never used the EVGA software, but if you want to plug the pump into the USB header temporarily you can then use the EVGA software to set the pump speed to run at a different level speed if you wish, but I have not needed to do so - see my post a couple back on this thread

Insteresting... I have the same headers in the Hero VIII, pump, CPU1 and CPUOPT. Curiously whenever I tried to connect a 4 pin fan in CPU OPT this has worked at maximum rpm, as in dc mode not at the rate of CPU1. What I do not like about this option is always keep the pump at 100%...

If some one has a contact MIC place it against the pump and see if the speed holds after disconnecting the USB cable. ( At the same CPU and water temp)

This way setting via the software may give you the speed you want.

I have mine at 75 %

If the internal firmware is doing ANY pump speed adjusting based on water temp we really need to have that in the documentation if it is not the default or software curve which at this time seems to be fan speed only.

Regarding CPU and water temperature:
you are only water cooling the outside case of the CPU chip not inside the CPU where the sensor is located

I have never used the software either. Mine is always white (presumably that is the default color). I didn't notice it flash red momentarily at startup though... although it's kind of in a position where I can't see it easily. I'll try it.. brb..

..ok yes, did a restart and yes I did see it flicker to red for a split second. I'm going to guess that's normal. :)

This was why I had a problem getting the middle color to work as I cleared the date then put the higher temp at the top and I only just started using EVGA precision as Afterburner does not control the second fan as well on the new video cards and did not notice it uses the same stacking.
