You have 3 years to get the warranty, if you plan on keeping the card for a long time, kill it asap under warranty if it has the defect. Other option, wait and kill it later, you will get a refreshed card (either same but not as old, or newer gen)
Edit: of course kill it under normal use, I don't recommend anything else 😂

What difference would that make? EVGA said that the ones which fail are caused by a manufacturing defect. If EVGA could find something wrong with the VBIOS and issue a VBIOS update, EVGA would have loved to have made that claim instead of admitting hardware manufacturing issues.

narbi5hnot sure how to flash the bios on GPUs, but my drivers were always up to date. Just install and run EVGA Precision X1. It will ask you to update the VBIOS.

I started crashing in World of Warcraft a few months back. About once or twice a day where the screen would go black or there was a hard freeze with repeating sound. I installed precision to check the temps and it asked me to update the VBIOS so I did. It also mentioned my motherboard bios so I updated that. I haven't had a problem since. So could the VBIOS be updated to prevent bricking the card?

Not true. You get another of the same cards with the same defect. Got mine RMA'd replacement just a few days ago and the new one does the same thing.

Not true. You get another of the same cards with the same defect. Got mine RMA'd replacement just a few days ago and the new one does the same thing.

They might use the same board but they should do some changes on it changing electrical parts , i think they know exactly what was the issue

FPS cap does nothing to prevent this. During the last open beta test, my 3090 crashed with an FPS cap on. I had been playing for around an hour, and I changed my graphics settings because my FPS was not even hitting 60 outside the starting town. A few seconds later my screen went black and GPU fans went to jet-engine mode. Skimming these forums and the New World subreddit, you can see other EVGA 3090 owners running into the same issue in the last beta and now the release version. I contacted EVGA customer support a month ago when it happened, and they just told me to "continue to monitor the situation." I didn't push my luck trying to brick it because I use this machine for work and couldn't afford to wait for an RMA. But now I'm considering just buying the game to use it as a warranty stress test.

What are the symptoms? I just had my 3080 crash playing New World and now fans turn on but no video, assuming same issue. Gets through bios screen the it happens.

10 seconds after pressing play on this game my EVGA 3090 Ultra FTW is dead. Monitors shut off. Cards fans went into a mode never heard before I immediately shut down the PC with the power button but was too late card is dead. tried in 2 other Pc's nothing none of the ports work all the pretty lights work.

It sucks... But especially because it is also for work you should make sure yours is not affected ... Find the best time I believe, would be worth if it is in the middle of a project and you loose some work in progress, or while in a meeting as well.

Just FYI i had an iGPU and hopped on, used DDU to clear drivers and got my pc to boot with the GPU in. Rushed and installed EVGA Precision X1 and installed firmware (3080 FTW3) going to try and install drivers again and report back.

well i updated the bios 2 times since i got the card. but i got a yellow "!" next to the graphics vbios under the resizable bar tab in precision x1. with the note: CSM Support hast to be disabled before flashing the VBIOS.

That indicates that there is a new VBIOS available, but also gives the necessary warning. You should be disabling csm before updating gpu VBIOS. Clicking that button should install the VBIOS by the way.

Just killed my second ftw ultra gaming. First was in beta and now this one at launch. Called support and asked for a supervisor. The guy I had spoken to had said to me that it's likely the faulty soldering that they claimed originally causing the problems although couldn't say 100 percent it was the fault as some other games are also doing the same thing. I then asked him about the 3090oc rma process and asked if this was the best route compared to original rma process and if I could get a rev 1.0 as both my others were 0.1 and he claimed that would be the best option and route. He also claimed he was getting multiple calls before me in short period of time with the same thing of new world instantly bricking. I contacted the 3090oc rma and they had gotten back to me in a few hours and said we can get you a 1.0 no problem but giving me a brand new one wasn't gurenteed depending on what they had. This time my 3090 was bricked almost instantly to about 30 seconds. Legit as soon as I hit create character at the main menu. Instantly crashed and red light of death with no video output. Anyone with a rev 1.0 bricked yet? I haven't been able to find anyone 100 percent confirming theirs has.

Happened to me today as well, was playing new world for about 30 mins before a black screen and could not alt + tab out or Ctrl + alt + del. Turned PC off and back on again with no video, could not get video using display port or hdmi port. Unplugged everything reseated the GPU and all 4 memory dims with the same results. Plugged into onboard graphics and got video. Got a day one step up 3090 (clown lips) by trading in my 2080 ti (got lucky and made the window by one day) Not sure if I want to blame new world or EVGA, but I am pretty freaking upset that a GPU I paid $2,000.00 dollars for didn't even last me a year. I purchased the extra 5 year warranty when I got my 2080 ti and the insanely high amount to step up to a 3090. Not to mention that I had to pay almost 4k to cross ship a new one (due to apparently to EVGA getting scammed by false warranty claims), I know I will get my 4k back but I don't have 4k lying around and just hope to complete the RMA process before I get charged interest. Last thing and and the only thing that P*** me off more than the card just taking a crap, I will end up getting a refurbished card back, instead of a brand new card. I have been in IT for 17 years, I treat all of my gear like porcelain glass, case is cleaned out once a month, nothing ever dropped bumped or scrapped, now I have to deal with a referbed card and who the heck knows how well it was taken care of. For two grand I expect a bit more upper class service and respect from EVGA, especially for how long I have been a customer, to say I am disappointed is an understatement and well consider very closely who I choose to do business with on my next build. Rant complete, just wanted to let others know this is still an issue and a major F up by EVGA..... Edit: FYI i also had FPS capped in game.

furmark is limited these days in the driver level they added it way back during the 500 or 600 series its been a while. but you can find lots of things that hit harder then furmark. super postion 4k comes to mind or even lots of really heavy gpu games can hit the gpu harder then furmark. furmark used to be the prime 95 of gpu stress tests but its been a while since it was
