Ocean, that's very promising. Maybe the newer 3090s won't have as much issues as the older models

Nisco3000 You have to look sharper, who is getting big sponsors and who is not getting them. Who is pulling-out the same brand video's out every month. Who did a Q&A with them, who is good friends with them on social media.
The red-line is clear as day.
It's sad because they call themselves "fair", "impartial", "independent" and it's all a bunch of BS, it's all about the money. But to be fair some are worst then others, one clearly come out to defend them, and the other loves to trash brands but apparently is unaware EVGA exists (gamers nexus) unless is to use their PSU as a good example.
The NZXT case was starting on fire... GN covered the EVGA 3090 failures. There was no need to do the same type of investigation, which GN is not really set up to do for GPU failures, as they did with the NZXT case. No one is in danger if their 3090 fails and EVGA will replace it. These two situations are not even sort of comparable.
Totally agreed. To me these problem will happen to every single card manufacturers... The question is not "IF" it is "WHEN". The follow up questions are, how frequently, but the most important one, what are they doing about it. I guess GN could have gone a bit further, but it is his editorial choice. I guess EVGA by making customer pay even a single cent when it is EVGA who are responsible to the problem is not right (I believe some report the shipping plus insurance). But at the very least they accept all RMA without a fight, and this is what should be looked at. I enjoy my KingPin, and I believe it was the right choice because of the few flaws the FTW had. But it is very easy to complain when 💩 hit the fan, it is hard to admit they might just do the right move.

GameArk I thought the issue was fixed, I tried to play the game. After 15 min my fans started going insane and blank screen. Every time I play this happen, I have to manually restart. please help us.
Just had the same thing happen to me. Killed the power as soon as it happened, rebooted and everything seems fine. Uninstalled and not touching this game again until we know what the hell is up.
Black screen / 100% fans indicates that the card entered overcurrent protection. I wouldn't blame the game, I would blame the video card design. Whether it is EVGA's fault or NVIDIA's fault, it is definitely not the game's fault. They could gimp the cards a bit to reduce/eliminate this problem, but then people would be annoyed by the drop in performance. EVGA: rock and hard place. Truth^

I get that, it's just interesting that this is the only game to have caused an issue in close to a year of running this card (which itself is actually an RMA replacement... my first one died within hours of installation.) My question is, is the "soldering defect" that killed the 3090s back in July at fault here-- assuming my card has that defect-- so I could just RMA it? (assuming they honor it, despite the card still working.) Or is it a deeper issue? Edit: OK so after watching Buildzoid's video, it seems like the OCP tripping is "supposed" to happen to protect the card, as he explains at 11:45. The soldering defect was what caused the cards to brick.

I would absolutely hammer the card while it's still under warranty, that way something doesn't kill it down the line leaving you SOL.

I know it's terrible advice in the current market, but it's a good idea to have a backup system with a backup card if you're a serious enthusiast or gamer. If you have to play this game play it on something else at reduced settings / resolution.

Does not reducing settings help at all? And is this specific to just the EVGA 3090 cards or does it affect other brands like Asus? I'm just concerned this may not be the first game that could do this going forward.

So I played New World in July with the closed beta on my EVGA 1060. I got my 3080 TI XC3 last week. I played New World Open Beta starting on Thursday. It was working fine however my nvidia overlay would not record video it would just say "ending recording" every time I tried to start a recording. I then re-installed the latest drivers as a clean install. I tested the video record on the desktop and it was now working. I launched New World and my card died on the load screen and my monitor said "no video signal". I rebooted, no video signal. I connected to the internal graphics card and got signal. I updated my bios no luck nothing from the 3080 ti. I opened the case and saw the red light next to the power connectors. I re-seated the card, no luck. I swapped power cables to the video card, no luck. I chose different power ports on my Corsair power supply, no luck. I put my EVGA 1060 back in, instant video. I used each the the power supply connectors (1060 only needs one) and they both feed the card. Bottom line, my card is now dead and I need to RMA. This was not a 3090 it was a 3080 ti XC3 with no over clocking etc. Watch out, glad I kept my old card while I wait for and RMA.

I don't trust the 3080 Ti's. Probably less than the 3090's.

My opinion is to play New World and everything else with your 3090 while it is under warranty, if you have a backup card. I would think most 3090 owners do. A 3090 isn't something most noobs would latch on to. And if it fails come here and post your card's serial number, and the serial number of the replacement card when it arrives. It might also be a good idea to pony up for the 10 year warranty extension.

Sounds like it affects most models not just the 3090's. I bet everyone's card would go bust if we all tried to play.

When I buy a new card, I just shuffle the whole chain down one and retire the oldest one.

In the 5 minutes of Youtube video I watched of it, seemed like WoW combined with ARK. Has major appeal to a certain gamer segment.

Bad soldering on the GPU boards like it was mentioned before. I really think it affects more than just 3090 cards as I have heard from at least 2 people with 3080Ti's that it has happened to their cards as well.

If your card was well designed it wont die , the game is a good test , seen some speculations that the voltage / power spiked on evga cards which killed them , the pci-e slot high power draw was a real thing , probably fixed now still you dont know what you are getting
