Hello, I bought an EVGA 2080ti from USA Best buy in July 2019. It was working good till yesterday. While working it suddenly stops giving display to my monitor and light of graphics card goes out. I turned off my PC re-install graphics card and it working fine again. Yesterday I turned - off my PC and when I turned on today the same issue. My graphic card FAN is running at full speed but no light on EVGA GEFORCE RTX 2080ti. Steps I follow to recover

  1. Re-install Graphics card into MB - No joy
  2. Different PCI Slot - No joy
  3. Change from DP port to HDMI - No Joy
I don't have another PC to test with different combinations. Any help, my GPU fans are running full speed, I attached video of error. The problem is I am preparing for the event from October 8 2019. It is on Monday. I will be disqualified if I don't appear in that event. Any way I can make that work till Monday for 2 hours. I was in the USA, Currently, I am living in INDIA.

PC Config :

RYZEN 3900xRAM 32 GB
MB: Asus Crosshair VII

Try powering the card with a different set of pci-e power cables.

I am using one PCIe Cables from the PSU cable. This is the link
I didn't understand what you mean with this " Still happens when you remove your Rigs OC ?"

PSU is September 2018. Model is Corsair SMPS HX850 - 850 Watt 80 Plus Platinum Certification Fully Modular PSU With Active PFC

I can't see any screen so can't debug until PC boots

It was short hand for Remove all system OC - CPU - RAM & GPU

You MUST use two separate PCIe power cords --> Even Corsair "recommends two cables"

I do not remember the details --> However several members have Reported issues using some Corsair PSU - google it

    @Coot GTX,
Thanks for all suggestion. But I am sorry to say till now no JOY I think I will miss this competition and inside I am crying nothing I can do neither you guys.

    So I tried changing cables.
I changed the slot &  try using 2 new cables, new HDMI cable. nothing works.
The only thing I can say is my FAN running full speed. which was without connecting cable to GPU, Only re-seating into MOBO.

Any suggestion, I did complete reassembly of my PC to check for loose cables .

My suggestions would be to test the card in another known good working system to see if the issue will follow the card. Having the card tested at a local pc shop will do. If the issue doesn't follow the card then I would try a different psu.

My graphic card FAN is running at full speed but no light on EVGA GEFORCE RTX 2080ti.

That is why. Usually points to bad card, or insufficient power to gpu.

I think hard truth I have to accept is my 2080ti is dead need RMA. I don't have the option to switch between parts, But one thing I did was ordered a new Asus 1650 which will arrive on Wednesday. In any case, I am missing the event. Best I do swap new card see if that works then, In my understanding problem lies with 2080ti.

Sorry to hear.  Your best bet and lesson learned is to have a backup GPU but actually have a backup PC for events like this that are very important to you.

Guys one thing I want to add someone shared to me that changing thermal can help. But I am seeing something like OIL on blackplate . It is something to do with this.  Does opening graphics void warranty. If that help I can give it try.

Those 'oil spots' are from the pads.  It's normal and we all get them.  Nothing to worry about on that end.

At this point I wouldnt. They will be looking the card over hard thinking you broke something since the card is now bad.

I doubt swapping TIM will do anything to revive the card.

What to say one side I am happy one side I am sad ...

I was upset I let my teammate down by not able to participate. I just woke up and thought why not give it a try. I just put my graphic card again and press the power-up button.
    Miracle it works.
I got a green light . I did basically nothing my card was out of motherboard for 2 days and it works automatically
But to be sure now I have light what I can do to make sure this problem doesn't appear again. Now I can do the test and all as I can go into windows.

Crazy! Noticed the card is not secured to the case.. sure it's just cause you were trying it out real quick.

Wondering if it's all a pcie connection issue. As in the case i/o cutout for the card causes it to pull out slightly over time and its losses a connection.

Anyways.. hope it works for a while this time.

Thanks yeah it was not secured as didn't have hope it will work. But I don't remember when I was happier when I got my card or today when this miracle happens. Now it is secured properly.
You mentioned about PCI-E connection I did try 10-15 times Reseating process but didn't help I am doing stress test till now it look good. I am only looking on the temp side which is 69% when FAN where normal, When putting to 100% it was 53% on furmark .

Rest finger cross Any other suggestion or steps to ensure that card is ok.

    Thanks community for all help.

I seriously don't know what went bad. Is it some forces that didn't want me to participate in the event. Maybe my wife

    Back to the point.
    • I am using 2 PCIe power cables to GPU to make sure proper power delivery
    • I did reseat earlier properly, but maybe something went wrong on my side
    • I did a Stress test using Furmark. It was for 4 hours temperature never went above 68 Degree Celcius.
    • Drivers are up to date
    • I am getting some PSU testing kit, Digital Multimeter, & Backup GPU in case this problem arrives in the future I can test eliminate what problem was.

One thing I wanted to ask this problem apparently start as I installed Air conditioning in my PC room, Something to do with that?
Any other suggestion you guys want to suggest

Maybe some power issue? Prob on the same circuit as the pc. Should get a Kill-A-Watt. Plug that in the outlet and plug your pc into that or power strip and see what's going on.

Just plugging it into the outlet alone it will take a voltage reading to see if it dips to low.. out of spec.

Do that while your ac is running.
