Vince how the heck did you get four GTX 780 classifieds in SLI? I thought NVIDIA only allowed Titan to do that?

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

This motherboard is really crazy on LN2 overclocking, new PWM is solid. I hit 5820mhz on my 3930K through 3dmark cloud gate today with around 2500mhz on 16GB memory. I almost had a run pass at 5870mhz. This is the highest this cpu has EVER clocked for me on ANY X79 board, and I have tried many including the ASUS one :D. Oh yah and I'm using GTX CLASSIFIED 780 in QUAD SLI..

I assumed this board was a superior overclocker relative to little asus - thanks for the confirmation.  The Rightful Ruler Of Motherboards is about to make a return.  Let us hope asus doesn't steal the design team again.

Where are you seeing that? EVGA only has it listed as 3 way sli support.

I would have assumed that the pictures that he posted was of a 4-Way Titan setup but looking at the PCB and LED lights on them its the Classifieds.
And
"More to come including info about Ivybridge-E support, OC guide, and more overclocking with GTX 780 CLASSIFIED. Some TITAN records are about to fall "

Guess he either got new drivers that allow for 4-Way or Vince hacked the driver for 4-Way 780.

I know it has been mentioned a few times from Jacob.  I will need to search for where he said it.  I think my box also lists 4sli on it (I know that doesn't mean anything because when the 780s first released they had 4sli on the box)

True, but looking at that board with the four card setup that's defiantly not Titans.

How can it support 4 way sli if it is disabled in the drivers? Someone is giving bad info. Because if EVGA can enable it without custom drivers that means it is either hardware or bios limited.

Officially is the operative word..  just like certain CPU's that don't officially support PCIe3..

p.s. the photo from KingPin.. looks like Shanghai with smog lol.

Re:DARK 2013/08/02 05:19:52 (permalink)
I've been running a +5 Ghz overclock since November 2011 with my 3960X on the Asus RIVE.  With simple Koolance water cooling.

I see nothing new here except the possibility that EVGA might just now be able to do something similar....only 19 months late.  I respect Vince a lot, but we need to see more than a few 5Ghz screenies with serious sub ambient cooling before getting excited. A cherry picked board and chip, along with 4 780s to do the heavy lifting, is no surprise to make a run at a few records (especially in Vince's talented hands.)  Heck, even the geeks at maximum PC broke the top 10 on 3Dmark their very first try with their Dream Machine quad titans on simple water cooling.

The jury is out until the production boards make it into the hands of real users.

Even so, it's nice to see EVGA making an attempt to put out a solid X79 mobo.  I only wish it wasn't over a year and a half late to the party.

It's great that an employee of EVGA thinks the world of this board.....but I will await the reviews from a select few people on the EVGA forums before I get my panties in a bunch.

That's uncalled for.  My "Paper Weight" has  been running at 5 ghz for a year and half now - ZERO problems.  Real paper weights are made by Asus & MSI - I've had several go up in smoke.

Why all the Asus hate? They make some great X79 boards. No need to hate on somebody just because they were flat out better on X79 round 1. Would you rather them go away so EVGA's X79 offerings were the best we had to look forward to and they had no reason to step their game up?

We all love EVGA or we wouldn't be here, but the X79 mobos are one example of why I'm very glad there's competition.

I'm looking forward to seeing some user reviews of the Dark. If it turns out good i may buy a 4820K and put in my R4F and build a new main rig around the Dark and 4930K :)
