bcavnaugh I wonder how much of a gain from 2400 to 3200 will be? I will give this a Go in the AM, Thanks.
I think you have a 10 core CoffeeLake X series? Should make difference if that is the CPU I'm going to try for 3200, it is rated for 3000, 200 is not that much more. On another note, I was able to unlock win10pro from one MB and validate the key on my new MB combo. It was a win 7pro OEM key to begin with. I was happy about that. Although I am going back to 7pro or Mint Linux on most everything. Coffeelake CPUs I guess are made with w10 in mind and work best with it. I did have another upgrade/reboot during the PG challenge and I did not catch it. Lost over 3 days production, just a 4 core i5-3570k at stock, but still. 100 watts a hour doing nothing. grrrrrrr

Does SoB have an option to share the work between multiple cores like GIMPS has?
Now that vorsholk has stopped his abuse, I'm returning to folding. I no longer MOO due to abuses by certain "whales" in the Gridcoin community - so I now work the Distributed.net project directly again.

Bumped the 8600 up to 4.6 and it just did a PPS-MEGA in 8:46 It has an AVX offset where it bumps it down one multiplier, so it is really running 4.6 It would do WCG at 4.6 I believe. Not a bad little CPU for under 260$ new Intel. 1.26- 1.28V and cores are at or under 70c Just have a 90mm AIO on it, going to put a 240mm AIO on it as soon as it gets here.

I am doing PPS-MEGA in 675-700 seconds run time and 3000 CPU time with 6 cores MT @ 4.5ghz You are using 14 cores MT at 4.2ghz with 3200 ram PPS=MEGA and taking 8660 to 9000 seconds? Why are my times more than 10 times faster than yours? Where am I seeing something wrong? Are you putting the decimal point in the wrong spot?

On my Coffeelake CPY there is an AVX offset, does yours have it and what is it set for? What it does is change the multiplier in the BIOS it will subtract 1, 2 , 3 x when it has a heavy AVX load. Keeps the CPU from getting too warm. I believe the lowest setting is 1, I could not set it to zero. It was at Auto by default. Your app_config looks good to me 600 seconds vs 8,000 is a HUGE difference. I would think the extra cores would make up for a couple hundred mhz, i9 vs an i7...

I bet I know. Bill, did you delete the extra tasks PG sends to systems running MT or did you just leave them there waiting to be done? If a bunch of tasks were sitting there waiting for the CPU to finish one after the other the times are skewed...

Yeah, I always abort the extra tasks right away. If looking for a prime you do not want tasks sitting around waiting. Now I set it to use 10% of CPUs and they send just one. First prime turned in gets the credit at the prime finder. I think they should give both credit as finders, but it's not the way it is. If you want to do more than one, divide 100 by the number of cores and then multiply that by the number of tasks you want. dual 8 core CPU want to run 2 tasks 8 cores each. 100 divided by 16 is 6.25. So to get just 2 tasks set the BOINC mgr to use only 6.25 x 2 = 12.5 set to 15% you get 2 tasks with 16 cores.

I can also set mine to 0 but I will test with 1 first. So with the Cores set to 44 ADA64 now shows 43 as a low and peeks at 44 but never goes below 43. Changing to 0 now. This set and locks the CPU and shows in AIDA64, Thanks for this Tip Bill. Still have to update my ADA64 Page.....

I pushed it so far my UPS Overloaded (1050 was hitting 1120), running 2 CPU (10 Threads) and 2 GFN 20 so I had to set to run only One GPU Task. Maybe my 1200 Watt PSU is also not enough Power.

Nice, 4.4 at 1.176v too, I think that's pretty good. Not seen any other CPUs like that, looks good to me. I did get my ram to run at 3200 from 3000, no issues at all. But it is 15. 15. 15 .36 If I remember right. Maybe I'll shoot for a little more speed or tighten the timings up. The ram is 1.35v, not sure what is safe voltage to bump it to. I would think 1.4 if needed. Guess I better do some reading. This is the first DDR4 ram I have owned. Can't complain, it was a nice little bundle newegg had for sale. Got to file for the 20$ rebate before I forget. Get a 20$ card, maybe I will buy another AMD ramdrive software and run it on my server. I kind of like the ramdrive, crazy fast.

Bill, you are right about the dell monitors, I picked up a Dell S2417DG they are very sweet.
It is really nice, 24in, 2k resolution, 165mhz, G-Sync, the clearest screen I have ever used. 24 is the right size for my desk, all the room I have, it's enough. I got a good price on a used one, much cheaper than new one goes for and it is in new condition with warranty left on it. Can't find a thing to pick on it, well, I learned to turn off energy saver in the monitors menu, it can be a PITA, I found out. But heck yeah, I would never hesitate again to buy a Dell monitor

That's a good idea, nice mounting system. They do make nice monitors. I was afraid the print maybe too small 2k on a 24inch. Its not bad at all. The print is crisp and clean, much better than the 1080p BenQ it replaced. And I did like that one https://www.amazon.com/De...;keywords=Dell+S2417DG
