I haven't found a prime in quite a while. Long over due.
I'll roll the dice, come on baby, give me seven or eleven!
Or something a million times bigger.

Good Idea, what CPU Project would you run?

I am running the PPSMEGA prime and GENFER17MEGA right now.
The best bet to find a prime would be the Sophie German, PPS and genfer15 I believe.

Just a heads up,

2018 Formula Boinc is up and running. There are no sprints for 2.5 months but the marathons are live. Take a look and start crunching your favorite projects when you can. We are currently in 11th place and our best bud's are in first.

Maybe we can combine some POTM's with marathon projects again.

We need to get through the grueling PG challenge.

Bill,
Posted this in the POTM sticky a week ago or so:
I have had a work trip come up for the middle 2 weeks of January and will not be able to run a POM but can remote into my machines to have them working
If someone would like to step in for January and I can shoot for February.

If we want to do a POTM on top of all the resources we are putting into PG this month I Could run the asteroids POTM the 24-28th.

The Dark is crafted from the ground up to be the performance apex with everything you need to make a record-breaking benching run or a 24/7 number cruncher, and nothing you don't – a board that is as reliable as it is fast.
Only About 6 Days away from have the The Crunchinator Completed, Maybe 7.

I seem to have terrible luck with projects, cant seem to get tasks for alot of the GPU projects.  Put a Linux laptop
on asteroids to see how it did on CPU tasks before going to bed last night and woke up to the initial tasks complete and
asteroids down so they wont upload.

But on the plus side the 2P finished some PG SOB tasks last night

Intel CPU kernel bug FAQ: Fix for massive security flaw could slow down PCs and Macs Link

Short answer: It is. There isn’t any concrete data yet, but speculation is that the bug affects all Intel x86 CPUs produced over the past 10 years, regardless of the OS you’re running or whether you have a desktop or laptop. There are some reports that say newer Intel CPUs are less impacted than older ones, but the full extent is unclear.

How much slower will my Intel PC become?
It’s complicated.
More recent Intel processors with PCID (Process-Context Identifiers) enabled are said to suffer less of a performance hit, and some applications—most notably virtualization tasks and data center/cloud workloads—are affected more than others. The Register says “we’re looking at a ballpark figure of five to 30 percent slow down, depending on the task and the processor model.”

Intel is most likely hoping that the fix gimps AMD also even though they don't suffer from this issue.
Definitely sucks having an issue like this creep up.

Don't they already have to have access to your computer to get to that memory leak?
I would think if you are not going to the shady web pages, how can they even get to your system?
Make a copy of old OS, isolate the folders and crunchers behind their own firewall and stay the course.
I am not willing to take a 30% hit, keep my everyday driver behind its own firewall and patch that system.
My personal stuff, banking and whatnot is only on one system that does not do DC work.
I keep my linux systems on their own router with different addresses anyway.

I think that Microsoft will treat this as all Windows Users are Stupid and Dumb and have to Control Every Piece of Hardware that has Their OS Installed on.
I wonder...Is this why Mobile Phones are Called Smart Phones because everyone is Stupid and Dumb.
