There is a thread about this, EVGA warranty and covering folding and crunching. This is one section from their warranty page. https://forums.evga.com/N...iolation-m2834021.aspx- Any damages to the components, hardware and/or assembly of the Products including but not limited to damages caused as a result of neglect, abuse, accidents, misuse, or unusual physical, electrical or electromechanical stress (including due to uninterrupted use of the Products, or use of the Products for blockchain processing, cryptocurrency mining, or similar purposes).

The way I look at it, at least for the folding, is they have been encouraging the use of their cards in that manner by their evga bucks program. To not honor a warranty for use that they actively encourage would be really bad press. I can't see them doing it.

My personal belief is that abused cards are the issue, not how they are used. EVGA has made changes and released a new warranty statement, it is not clear as it could be, to cover all possibilities https://www.evga.com/warranty/graphics-cards/ (excerpt) These Limited Warranty terms are valid for Products purchased ON or AFTER May 25, 2018 within the regions of the Continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and Canada. For prior versions of the limited warranty terms please click here: Limited warranty terms prior to May 25, 2018. see this post from EVGATech_JoseC https://forums.evga.com/FindPost/2834118 (seems to be damage from riser failures and the like that EVGA will not cover under warranty)

On a lighter note, does CPU crunching work better on linux than windows like folding does? Thinking about converting my current setup to linux mint when I do the new build. I read that mint it is the most user friendly for Linux newbies, not to mention that chocolate chip mint is the best ice cream flavor known to man or beast.

It really depends on each individual project and not on the BOINC platform itself. So some run better on Linux, others on Windows.

Any one up for a small challenge? I was thinking something different. Does not have to be right away, the Summer is flying by and before we know it...... Say we do PG find the most primes in a set time. 3-5 days Sophie German or GFN15, they would be the easiest to find. To make it a matter of pure luck, not brute force, since some of us have hundreds of cores or near a dozen GPUs, have a limit on hardware. Limit it to one or two GPUs or a half dozen to a dozen cores. Maybe eight cores, or 2 CPUs of your choice. We can come up with an amicable number Person who finds the first, and person that finds the most primes win an EVGA T-shirt of their choice or something. I'll put up a shirt or two. What does everyone think of this idea?

Got around to putting the E5-1650V3 in the Asus x99 board, put the Gskill mem in and hooked up everything, she fired right up. Installing win7Pro right now, I'll update it and get it crunching some primegrid to test it out, So far so good.
