Some on is thinking of selling a Titan Z, looking for a price in the price check section.
It would make a good Milkyway GPU with its dual GPU and DP calculations

Getting ready to stuff an EVGA EATX X99 Classified into an EVGA D76 ATX case.
Would of been easy if they put the power connector facing up and not off to the side.
I could use the top SATA connectors but not the bottom. There is a partition plate in the way.
So out with the grinder and tin snips. It is not in the way any more.
Will use some automotive door edge guard to cover the edge.
Why make a glass plate for the door and color it so you can not see through it?
The object of a glass door is so you can see through it. The glass now just makes the case that much more heavy.
It was a naked rig anyway, I will just leave the door off for now.

I think it was a x79 sabertooth with a 4930k,  and an evga z370ftw with a 8600k finding my primes.
I have to get these boards in cases, laying around flat on boxes is taking up way too much room.

Re: Crunching Team general open ended discussions 2019/02/22 21:49:03 (permalink)
Well, I'm back on the crunchin side for a few days now. I moved my cards around to different rigs and wanted to have this web rig doing something when I'm not using it. So, its running WCG on 6 cores then yesterday I added two ol gtx 460's and started running project milkyway on them. I have 4 gtx 1060's fah on a 4x sli classy now and want to move that board to a nice watercooled case, have most parts but not all. So, while that rig is down for the change I was wondering how these 1060's would crunch on an open air mining board with usb risers. Built that awhile back but ended up nevermining ()
If that is not a good avenue I can put those cards into a couple of x58 3x sli boards that are full builds and collecting dust.
Any input would be greatly appreciated ty

They should do well. Try GPUgrid small tasks and see too. Just remember to join the team every project you start doing.
Milkyway does really well with AMD 280x, HD7970, 7990, and Nvidia titan, titan black, z and v GPUs with Double precision.
Although 1080ti and I guess the new RTX cards do well to. It is the double precision that makes the difference.
Can't wait to see what the new AMD7 does with milkyway.
CPU on WCG is always good, my favorite project for finding cures. They have real world results that have been put to use.
I think the riser cards are not an issue crunching BOINC

On anothetr  note, I still have not built the loop with that rad you brought over. My hand went numb on me and I have to get shots in the wrists. If that does not work, surgery.
I had to order a tankless coil plate for my boiler, it had a drip drip drip. Parts came today.
But I went down stairs and had a half inch of water on the floor. saifty relief valve went open and did not reseat.
So I had to drain it, change the valve and while I had it drained I removed the old coil and put the plate on.
I installed a side arm Wh a while back and do not use the coil. 2 Am and I just got done and my back is yelling at me loud and clear.
The fill valve seems to be working, pressure is ok, guess I wil take the expansion tank off and see if it is water logged, it is not that old though

Hopefully tomorrow I will get that x79 classified going with the radiator you brough over to the house. It is a water cooled chipset with a cpu heatsink and a titan 6gb with a water block. Going to be nice.  Replace the classy I have that never did work quite right.
I have another pump reservoir, tube and firring. Think that will go on my 8086k and I'll use a 1080Ti hybrid with it
Hope I can get my hand to work right with the small screws and all.

Sounds like a fun night, you can always give me a call, I'd be more than happy to help out with the boiler/wh or the build and little screws (I have a hard time with them always)

on another side note, I did a service call yesterday and the conversation with the homeowner went to cancer. He's an EMT who went on an overnight call to a person having trouble breathing. When he got there, he couldn't breathe either because the house was full of cigarette smoke. Naturally the talk shifted to cancer and then folding and crunching.
So, as I was leaving, he made a donation of 2 iMacs, 2 macbooks, a macbookpro, 3 dell inspiron laptops, all the chargers and a couple keyboards. He only asked that I get the pictures off of them before wiping the drives as he had forgotten the passwords to all. Did a live boot and transferred pics to a usb stick on one of the Dell's, installed mint, and it has been crunching all day. Transferring thousands of photos from one of the iMacs now.

I recently was given a Dell from a woman and the hdd went bad. Replaced with one lying around and installed Mint19 and it’s been pounding away at WEPM2 since. Like 3 weeks now. 4 cores.

Sitting here in early March waiting for another snow storm to hit today, 6-12 inches, there are signs of Spring.
Baseball is back on TV with Spring training. NHRA is racing again, they had the Winter nationals in Pomona, and raced in AZ.
NBA had the all-star brake and looking ahead to the playoffs. A flock of geese flew overhead yesterday day heading North.
Looked at my flowerbed and the Daffodils are sprouting up.
Won't be long there will be buds on the trees and the grass will be green, warm days and cool nights.
I like Spring, it's been a long time coming, been a long Winter and I sure am ready for it.
Can't wait to get the cover off the Mustang, change the oil and get some seat time. I miss that more than anything.

First winter for quite some time where it has actually rained more than just a couple days and temperatures were semi-cold.
Good crunching weather though!

Bill:
Way ahead of you!
Got in half a day a couple weeks ago.
Left the rigs crunching while I was gone...of course.

71F outside today, feels like Spring!

With all the systems running, it got quite warm in here. Had to turn the A/C on, at leats until it cools off outside below 60F.
Then I will open the windows. The sprint is over, then I will cut down for a while. I am sure we are not done with the cold weather.
