How are some people getting WUs? Is there some kind of work-around or setting that we're missing? Looking at the stat pages, I find it hard to believe that these are random assignments.

Advanced or beta flags for me. occasionally pausing and restarting. It really is just down to the limits if the main assign servers. They can only handle so many connections per hour and you can see the assign1 gets upwards of 40k transfers per hour. The assign2 server picks up the slack. The WS servers actually send you the actual work units and those mostly top out at 28k for the main one and half that for the others. As the extra servers cone online, especially that linustechtips server, the capability of doling out more units will increase greatly.

My slots are staying pretty full lately. It seems like the servers are catching up. What's this about cpu slots. I run a cpu slot on 1 system. It has no problem maxing out 6 cores. So making 1 slot per 6 to 8 cores should get you solid work. I turn off hyperthreading and the like.

I only have one slot for the cpu When I first created a folding computer it didn't have a gpu in it and the FAH installer only gave it one slot. Should I create more slots, for the cpu? It now has 1 cpu, and 2 gpu slots. Oh I guess I should mention the 2 cpu's were for 2 different computers. 2 computers...2 cpu slots...4 gpu slots total I wasn't getting much gpu work (consistent) until I turned the beta flag back on...

I misunderstood then. I've been getting very consistent work now. You probably shouldn't worry about it too much.

OK I feel this may be kinda dumb but I have one 1080 that has been having trouble getting work. I've done the pause/fold a few times and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. But, (now for the dumb part) I have had success 5 times in a row now and figured I'd share and see if it works for anyone else. Right click on the "ready" card>pause wait about 5-10 seconds and left click finish at the top wait another 5-10 seconds and click fold Mine has picked up work at the next attempt all 5 times. Witchcraft lol

Cool GTX With a "National Emergency" declared yesterday ... by the President [No political replies - TOS ] Time for FaHd to have those severs Hosted by the Pros .... Get Google, Microsoft, Amazon ... to step up and run this Professionally It is beyond irksome - that I want to Help with some reasonably high end "home" equipment ... and I cant get a WU because Sanford is mismanaging their work edit: replace "Stanford" with FaH ... cause Servers are not at Stanford now
Actually, if you look at the " Server Status Page" several of them actually are hosted on Azure servers. Linus has even spun up an assignment server because he was made aware of the WU shortage with all the uptick of demand. He appears to be live and working now. I think we also need to keep in mind that most of the people managing this are grad students and volunteers.

The advanced flag is probably better for most folks. Most units work through the beta quickly and the chance of really bad units still exists in beta.

So to add a flag, open Advanced Control. Select Configure, click the expert tab. Add a flag with the little plus symbol. Name it Client-type Enter Advanced as the value.

Beta are usually first run units. They have been known to fail. So it is a risk to your production and points. Advanced gets you tested units that were checked in the limited beta run but can still sometimes fail.
